My Dream Vacay

For the Create Your Dream Vacation on Pinterest Assignment (3.5 stars), I had two main themes- both inspired by my semester abroad in Bath, England. The first of my dream vacations is to go to New Zealand and Australia. Some of my friends and I went on a bus tour for Spring Break with many Kiwis and Australians, and they definitely made me want to visit. Both countries are absolutely beautiful, and I think they would be locations where I could do the things I love to do the most while traveling- eating cool things, seeing beautiful nature, and doing adventurous things like zip lining and hiking. I pinned different beautiful locations around these places, as well as some cool and free things to do in New Zealand. I also found some posts about celebrating New Years in Sydney as well as seeing the Southern Lights in New Zealand and Australia. Luckily, they speak English, and I have friends I could stay with. I would have to get some plane tickets, though… and it is a long plane ride! I will just have to stay for a while!

The other place that would be a Dream Vacation of mine would be returning to Bath. I already miss it and the people I met there. Maybe not now, but eventually, I would love to go back- maybe with some of the people I met while there. I pinned different gorgeous places that reminded me of the place I called home for a semester. I have never actually looked Bath up on Pinterest, so this was a fun exercise. It was so cool seeing beautiful pictures of places I had been too! I also pinned a website that talks about the different coffee shops in Bath, many of which I had been to. I went to several coffee shops a week in Bath- they were my favorite place to go with friends or to do work!

This was a fun exercise that allowed me to reminisce about Bath and plan a future trip to New Zealand and Australia. Check out my Dream Vacay here!

????????????- Dream Vacation. I’ve been itching to visit Thailand for quite some time now. This past spring I studied in North Wales and visited 14 different countries across the United Kingdom and Europe over the four months I was abroad. Each was unique and intriguing in it’s own way, but most of it felt too familiar. I want to travel outside of my comfort zone. I’ve never been to Asia and think Thailand is the perfect place to start. Getting to Thailand requires some planning. Entering the country requires a visa. A Non-Immigrant Visa is good for 90 days. If I want to go for a shorter period of time, I can apply for a 60 day tourist visa or a standard tourist visa which is good for 30 days or less. The best time of year to visit is between November and March, right after monsoon season, where temperatures are much more comfortable for travelers. When traveling the thing I get most excited about is trying new food. Thailand street food is a big selling point to tourists and I cannot wait to try all their exotic cuisine.

Pinterest Dream Vacation

For the Pinterest Dream Vacation assignment, I decided to find a few places that I’ve always wanted to visit and treat the trip as if money was no object. My board includes locations in Italy, Croatia, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Russia. A lot of people talk about wanting to visit countries in western Europe like France or Britain or Spain, and I would love to visit there as well, but in addition to visiting Italy and Germany (which are also pretty typical dream destinations), I definitely want to see some places in Central and Eastern Europe that don’t get as many tourists but are just as amazing. None of the countries I pinned speak English as their primary language, but there are English speakers and translators all around, and I speak enough Italian and a little German to get by. Visas and shots will also be required. Most of the countries are Schengen Treaty countries, meaning it’s much easier to cross borders from one to the other, but countries like Russia have more closed borders. In addition, I’d definitely have to learn a lot of the social customs of the countries so as not to come off as rude and to avoid confusion. Overall, though, I think it would be a perfect vacation.

Wanderlust and Day Dreams

What is a vacation? I haven’t had a real one in so long! However, I’ve always wanted to travel to southern Europe and the Mediterranean coast and this assignment was the perfect excuse to do a little research/planning. I love all the things you can find on Pinterest and boy did I get a lot of ideas! Unfortunately….I’m pretty sure it would take me about a year to do everything I want to do there!

Ideally, I would start out in Moracco, hit Portugal and Spain, then travel along the coasts of France, Italy and Greece, then sailing across and spending some time in Egypt! I know Egypt wouldn’t generally fall into this type of tour but Ancient Egypt has always fascinated me and I would to explore the pyramids!

Not only would this trip be long, but it would cost a heck of a lot of money! I would probably be able to at least function in the Spanish speaking countries but there would be a huge language barrier in some of the other countries. My dream vacation is basically unobtainable unless I come into quite a large amount of money but its fun to dream! Plus, It could definitely be broken down into shorter trips if I could manage to prioritize and actually make decisions about the places/things that I want to see the most. Check out my Pinterest board and dream travel right along with me!

Let’s Take a Trip!

Dream Vacation..

I choose to do this assignment http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/create-your-dream-vacation-on-pinterest/  which was worth 3 ½ stars. This assignment was to Create a Pinterest Board of my Dream Vacation. I am always dreaming of the future especially places I want to go (once I get enough money of course.). It is my dream to go to Korea and hopefully soon I can go! For now, I will just settle with putting the pictures on Pinterest. I never really made a board before on Pinterest furthermore, I only just scroll through other pictures as an avid person on there. I was surprised on how easy it was to create one and all I had to do was search the pictures I wanted and pin it to the board I created. I added all the beautiful places I wanted to see in Korea especially go see some Kpop performances! Of course I added the food on the agenda since I need it to survive. I would need a passport to go overseas. Lastly, I would need to know some sort of their language to be able to get by but it would not be so hard because I already know some stuff from watching K-drama and reality shows.  Overall, I enjoyed this assignment and this would be a steeping stool for my future since I already made up my mind to go to Korea!

Create a dream vacation

This assignment was called create a dream vacation on pinterest and is worth 3.5 stars.

http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/create-your-dream-vacation-on-pinterest/

I really enjoyed this assignment because I regularly use pinterest so it was fun to do. My dream vacation has always been to spend and extended vacation in London. I created a board to put all of my pins on and found some cool things to add to it.

https://www.pinterest.com/rmayers/dream-vacation/

I found cool pictures of Westminster Abbey, the London Eye, and Big Ben which are places I would love to see. I then added things like the Twinnings Tea Museum and the Harry Potter tour which is something I have always wanted to go on. Then I added some top places to go for food and things to see that aren’t very touristy. I also pinned some translations of the slang that they use over there that I could use. Overall I really enjoyed this assignment because this could be things that I use on a realistic trip across the pond to London.

Dream Trip on Pinterst

Stars: 3.5

I have always wanted to go to Greece and now that my honeymoon will be coming up next year, maybe this is the perfect time to plan my dream trip. I will need to get my fiance his passport. Then we will have to find a hotel that is within our budget. Then book the flight, then off we go! Also, we would get travel insurance just incase our plans need to change. The language there is obviously Greek and  you only need routine shots to travel there! I really hope I get to go in 2018!

Hannah’s Dream Europe Vacation

I decided to do this because I love Pinterest. My dream vacation includes going to Europe, and specifically France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. I have always wanted to go on this trip and I figured this was a good place to start!

Where in the world is Annabella Smith?

I chose this assignment because I love using Pinterest, and I want to travel to other countries and experience other places outside the country where I have lived my whole life. I even already had a board on Pinterest dedicated to different places where I want to travel. The UK has been at the top of my list of countries to go because of the beautiful landscape and history. I am also a photographer, and I want to take pictures like the ones that appear on Pinterest (and better ones). In fact, I want to go to graduate school in England to earn my master’s degree in photography. Coincidentally, the movie where I got my secret agent name The 39 Steps is set in the UK.

If I do end up travelling to the UK, I will probably need to spend 2-3 weeks there at minimum. There are more than enough picturesque views, natural sites (forests, cliffs, moors, mountains, rivers, even beaches), medieval-style villages, bed-and-breakfasts, castles, cathedrals, monuments, and Harry Potter filming locations to make for an eventful vacation. In the UK, you can see everything from Stonehenge to the Tower of London to the Isle of Skye. Check out my board to see just some of the places I hope to fit into my dream vacation:

This trip is definitely possible for me, because it is one of my top goals in life, and travel to the UK for US citizens is affordable and easy, especially because the countries share friendly relations and we speak their language. The only things preventing me from going soon would be time, getting time off work, getting a passport, and money for a plane ticket, accommodations, and a rental car. The UK only requires a valid passport and does not require shots or a visa for anyone staying less than 90 days. Doing this assignment wasn’t too much of a challenge since I was already familiar with Pinterest, but I found some really interesting places I had not heard of before, and it gave me a better idea of the cost and time that would have to go into my vacation. While I have wanted to visit some of the more popular places like Glen Coe or Dean Village for a long time, I found out about some more obscure places like library bars and abandoned abbey ruins. Off I go!

Dream Vacation: Peru, Jordan, Egypt, Antarctica

For the 3 1/2 star assignment “Create Your Dream Vacation on Pinterest!” I chose to create a board with what might be one of the most expensive vacations I could think of (hey, ideal not practical):

Petra. The Treasury.Jordan:

Ok, that picture should link to the Pinterest board.

First, I decided on where I would go. Well, I’ve always wanted to see Machu Pichu. I pinned some photos of the city, as well as some travel tips. I didn’t pin a hotel for this one, since what I can figure it’s mostly camping.

Next up, Petra! I pinned some photos like the one above, as well as a hotel in Aman, the capital of Jordan. Since I was in the Middle East, I decided to pin some photos of Red Sea scuba diving as well; I love scuba diving, and my dad (a prolific traveler and scuba-lover) has said in the past that the Red Sea is one of the best places in the world for it. I also decided that I wanted to visit the pyramids at Giza, as well; the hotel I pinned for Giza appears to have an awesome view of them from the pool.

Where to go from there? How about Antarctica? I’ve talked to someone who’s been, and it sounds really cool. Again, camping is the thing, so no hotels. Lots and lots of pretty scenery, though, especially at night when you can see the sky.

This was a lot of fun to do, and Pinterest is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it. I would love to go on this vacation; maybe if I win the lottery/ turn out to have a secret rich old relative who leaves me millions in their inheritance.
