@IamTalkyTina Headswap Tutorial

The Mashup assignment for @Iam TalkyTina Headswap can be executed in several ways. The one which can be used through ease is with the use of the link FaceinHole.

After downloading a picture of the TalkyTina image that you prefer and the character that you will place her head on go to this link. Choose create your own scenario for a figure or character that you will be placing TalkyTina’s head upon, upload it here. For this tutorial I browsed the scenarios and chose this. Next you can upload the TalkyTina image of your choosing. For this tutorial I used the image search option powered by Google. Afterwards, I cropped her head to fit the hole which was saved in FaceinHole. I embedded the link in my blog post to acquire the creation below.

My Fair Abbey

As my final project character’s story is evolving, I needed to advance her progress to the next level where she becomes part of a television show loosely based on some of her life experiences.  So, that meant I needed to invent the television show and now you’re all caught up. I mashed up a movie […]

“These Ain’t Even Punchlines No More, I’m Abusing Tracks”

For my final mashup assignment I decided to do the Create Your Own SuperPAC assignment (3 stars). I found this assignment very interesting. It took so much effort to get all of this to come together. I used Skitch to crop the photos and an online Pixlr app to paste them on to the black streetlight background that I found. I thought that it would be much easier but it was truly a lot of work. I used the SuperPAC name generator to help me get started. Mine was “Recover Our Future.”

Immediately after seeing this I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Since there is so much hostility and tension in the US caused by several killings of teenage African American men I decided to use that as my theme. I thought of the three biggest names that everyone has heard of which are Mike Brown, Trayvon Martin, and Jordan Davis. I really wanted to send a message through this assignment and I feel that I was able to capture that. Let me know what you think.

Stringer Saw It First

For my last mashup assignment of the week, i went bold and chose the “Lip Read!” assignment worth 4.5 stars. I’ll be honest here, i chose it because it was worth 4 stars and i didn’t want to have to complete 2 more assignments worth 2 stars. BUT! I did enjoy making this. Since i have one more tutorial to do, i have decided to do it with this assignment.

Background

My last assignment had to be about The Wire so i had to sift through some good scenes. I was going to choose a different scene but i felt that the scene where Avon and Stringer fight was a good one. Every one has seen it and it’s a big moment in the show. After i chose the scene, i had to get a copy of it!

Tutorial

The Scene

The first step in the process was getting the scene. Since i had to dub over the voices, i decided to use my Quicktime Player and just record the screen. I didn’t feel the need to go through MPEG and cut the scene to what i needed because the audio would be lost anyways. If you have a mac, you need to go the launch pad and choose Quicktime Player. Once you have that, you want to click “file” and choose “New Screen Recording” like below. Once you open that up, QuickTime allows you the option of doing the whole screen or dragging a certain section of it. Do whichever works best!

IMovie

For this assignment, i used IMovie because it comes free with my Macbook. After i saved the screen recording, the next step was to open it in IMovie. Once you open IMovie, you need to also open your video screen recording so you can work with it! Now you have the video open and you can work with it! The next step is to dub over the voices!

Adding Audio

After you’ve open your video clip, you need to dub over the voices! With IMovie, it’s very easy. On the bar that divides IMovie into two different sections, there are some icons you can use for editing. One of them is a little microphone which will be used to adding in audio. Once you click on the microphone, IMovie tells you to click where you want to start recording the audio. It’s not too difficult! You choose where you want to begin and click, then once you’re done you click again and it will stop. Once you have all your recordings done, you’re new movie is ready for finalizing!

Finalizing and Uploading

Once you’re pleased with your work, your next and almost final step of the process is finishing up the video and uploading. This is the easiest step! You head over to the “File” tab and scroll down until you see “Finalize Project”. This should be in bold and will allow you to click on it. Since i already completed mine, it won’t let me do it again which is why it is grey.

Screen Shot Finalize

After you have finalized the project, you’re ALMOST done! If you have a YouTube channel you can upload directly from IMovie. What you must do is go under the “Share” tab and you have the option of sharing the video on various websites. Once you decide where you want to upload it, you will need to sign in to the website. Now you’re done and you can have all your friends see you work!

This Doesn’t Belong Here

For this asignment you need to mash up two different iconic movie scenes. However, you should aim to be as subtle as possible. Perhaps a famous prop that simply doesn’t belong or a character that looks a little out of place.

“Tryna Get A Buzz, Tryna Pollinate”

For my second mashup assignment I decided to do the Twittr assignment (2 stars). I used a couple of applications to create this photo. First I found the symbols on Google images and then saved them to my computer. I opened up a Pixlr app online and uploaded the Google picture for the background. Then I open Microsoft office word and shrunk the size of the two Stumbleupon logos and took a screenshot using Skitch. Then I added the two logos as new layers on the Google background where the o’s would go and saved the final image to my computer. I uploded it to flickr that was the end of that assignment.

The hardest part of this assignment was finding the logos that I wanted to use. I thought about a lot of sites and it was difficult to settle on any two in particular. I then remembered that I never got to create a Google logo in high school so I thought I would take this opportunity to do so. After I thought about what logos are the most round I settled on Stumbleupon as the second website logo. I hope you guys like it.

“Got Em P.E. Nuts Like They Elephants”

For my first mash-up assignment I decided to do the 10 Second Song Mash-Up (3 Stars). I really struggled trying to find an artist to make this assignment with. I had to go through all of my music and think about how different I am and incorporate that into my decision. I finally decided on an artist that I think everyone would know. Then I had to think about how much of their music I had on my computer and that made it even harder. I only had a limited amount of music so I went with what I had.

The artist is really popular so I had to change up the songs. The problem with that is everybody knows the songs off of the album that I used. I chose songs at random and cut them down to 2 to 3 seconds and put them together using Audacity. Let me know who it is.

Shadow of Mordor: Omar’s Revenge!

Middle Earth needed a hero…and they got one! From the inner city streets of Baltimore to the Hills of the Shire, comes Omar Little! Lone wolf and epic fantasy warrior extraordinaire. My video game cover mash up incorporates a cult classic LOTR & the Wire !

The Frozen Dead

Hiya! So another mashup down! I decided to do the trailer mashup because it really stuck out to me when I was brainstorming ideas for the mashups. So I was thinking of different movies/tv shows that I could mash up and Frozen was the first thing that I came up with. Then I was thinking of something else that I could pair it with. Walking Dead came up as well and I thought I would give those two a try. I grabbed the trailer for Frozen and converted the YouTube file to an MP4 file to import to iMovie. Then the hard part was deciding which Walking Dead trailer to use. There are 5 seasons of the Walking Dead so to find which one fit the best I decided to try each season trailer. So I grabbed all 5 season trailers, converted them to the MP4 file then I went to iMovie and put each file as the background music to the Frozen trailer. For some reason I wanted to try the season 5 trailer first. So I added it to my storyboard in iMovie. I think this was the best one! Its not perfect but it matches up the most. There is time where there is talking and there isn’t a character there or there is a character “talking” but there isn’t any speaking. I decided to use the season 5 trailer because it matched well with a lot of the transitions in the Frozen trailer. So here is the final product! This was a fun assignment to do and it makes me think of other movies that could be mashed up.

Epigraph Movtivational Poster

Hiya! So for a mashup I decided to make a motivational poster but I wanted to incorporate the Wire as well. So I thought back through some of the assignments that I completed and I found the alternative epigraphs assignment. I knew that this would be perfect! So I found a picture that I took over the weekend, and tried to find a good epigraph that would go with the theme of the picture. And the epigraph from season 4 episode 8 “Corner Boys” fit the bill perfectly!

We got our thing, but it’s just part of the big thing ~Zenobia

The columns on the bridge might just have the one part but they all work together to keep the entire bridge up. Just like what Zenobia said. Now she didn’t literally mean the bridge but the picture gives the epigraph a whole new meaning.

I used PicMonkey again, just because it was easy access since I was at home. I uploaded the photo then I added the text. I used the font “Shadows Into Light Two” because I think the handwritten feel balances out the picture very well. I picked blue for the font color instead of the traditional black because it kept with the blue theme of the rest of the picture. I think it turned out well!

Here is the final product!
