Mascot Mash-Up

Ever since I moved to Virginia, I fell in love with the hockey team, Washington Capitals, and the baseball team, Washington Nationals. I also kept some love for NY when I stick by the Buffalo Bills side. I still have to rep NY in VA. I used the Bills logo, and the two mascots for this mashup. The most fun part of this was to have the mascots ride the bull. I think it was a lot of fun.

Movie Mash-up

This was lots and lots of fun! I had to pick two movies that were similar and create one mashup poster. I thought that the perfect two movies would be Cop Out and The Other Guys. This was the perfect combo in my head because they were both movies that had to do with buddies that were cops that get along at the end and make everything work out. I think that it was hard to play with perspective but I wanted to make sure that it said “Cop Out Guys” and I think I achieved that well.

How to: Create a Movie Mash-Up

  1. First thing is first. You need to decide what movies are similar enough or have been compared to. For example the movies that I chose were Cop Out and Other Guys. They are both movies that are about cop buddies working together. Use this link to help you if you need it!
  2. Next, pick two images, if I was you I would pick movie posters. Here are mine.
  3. The next step is to open up paint. I know that all of us are not rich enough for some of the more high applications. I promise paint is not like it use to be and has a lot of helpful tools. You need to decide how you are going to mash the movies. I am going to take the word “Guys” and put that on the “Cop Out” poster so it will read “Cop Out Guys”. I am also going to put Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg in the image too.
  4. Now, duplicate the poster a few times to be able to use it over and over. First I will upload the Other Guys Poster delete everything that I do no want. So I will get rid of the clouds, the names of the actors and also “The Other”.  It should look like that on the left with all the layers. Save that as a .jpeg. This step will take a little while.
  5. After that, you want to open up the other movie poster on a separate paint document. Then also open up the other movie poster. Play around with it and adjust the images together however you want. Mine took some time to play around with to get it how I wanted it!
  6. Lastly, save this project as a .jpeg and upload it to your blog. Don’t forget to tag this assignment!

Movie poster mashup

http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/movie-mashup/

This assignment is called movie mashup and is worth 4.5 stars. For it I had to take a poster from a movie I like and mash it up with a movie it is often compared to. One of my favorite movies is Love Actually so I decided to go with that as the poster of the movie I like. It is often compared to the movie Notting Hill, so I used that one as well. I decided to use http://pixlr.com/editor/ to edit these posters together. I used a picture of some of the cast of Love Actually as the original layer and took the part of the Notting Hill poster with Julia Roberts in the background and layered it on top and made it a little opaque so it is easier to see the two. I decided to put the cut out of her head next to Hugh Grant because he is one of the reasons the two movies link together and are often compared to each other. Then I took the words Notting Hill from that poster and took the word actually from the other poster and layered those together on top so it looked like the title is now Notting Hill Actually. I think that it turned out pretty well and enjoyed making it.

Closeup mashup

The first assignment I did for the mashup category was called I’m ready for My Closeup and is worth four stars. For this assignment I had to layer two images over each other and one had to be a closeup of someone and the other had to be a landscape. I chose to use http://pixlr.com/editor/ to edit the pictures together because I had never used it before and wanted to try it. I found a picture of Ginny from Harry Potter that I thought was a funny close up and a nice landscape and layered them together to make a closeup. I think it turned out really well and I enjoyed learning how to use pixlr for the first time.

Melody Mash Up

For this assignment, I created my own. I took two songs that had the same chord progression and combined them together at a place where they would sound good overlapping.

For this particular arrangement, I chose TLC’s “Waterfalls” and Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”. I’ve been working on a mash up of this for a while and I thought I would test it it out to see how it sounds.

Movie poster mashup

Fitting the spy theme, I did a mashup of James Bonds for an assignment from the assignment bank. I used Photoshop and it was pretty simple. If you notice, I made a slight alteration to the text at the top.

Holiday Mashup

When I read this title something immediately came to my mind that I thought fit this perfectly. Now I may not have technically created this myself, but I truly can not think of a better example of a holiday mashup than that of the nightmare before Christmas and jack skellington. This is the perfect example of a mix between Halloween and Christmas and Ive been a big fan for quite a while!

Photo Mash

I thought this assignment would be an awesome one to do because there is so much room for creativity and some of the things you come up with can be hilarious. You can basically do whatever you want and the product of it is something awesome, like a spock rock.

Classical Mash Up

For the Classical Music Video Mashup, I used Blink 182’s video for “What’s My Age Again?” with Offenbach’s “Infernal Gallop” (often misnamed The Can Can). Even while reading the assignment description, I had the idea of putting these two together. I used iMovie to line up the music with the video, even though I had to trim the song a little here and there. Hopefully it’s as funny as it was to me.
