Sports Mashup Game Winners

The Work Itself

This video assignment is titled “Sports Mashup“, its instructions are to “submit a video mashup of what you think are some of the greatest sports plays ever. What is the story it tells? This needs to be more than just a montage of clips, find a way to make it present a theme, an arc of ambition, a message about the moments.” It is rated 4/5 stars in terms of difficulty. I created a YouTube compilation video of game winning plays from this past year in the NCAAF, MLB, NFL, and NBA. My video is titled “We Won!“.

The Story Behind The Story

Sports are fun to watch because no one knows what is going to happen at any point in time of a game. The results are unpredictable. I especially love game winning scores as time expires. It is very exciting, especially when the underdog team is on the winning side of it. I created this video of game winning plays to share with the public of everything they may have missed. Personally, I scored a game winning goal in my junior year in lacrosse. I remember the play and definitely the celebration like it was yesterday. It is one of my happiest memories, so I understand the emotions that these athletes feel when they win the game.

The Process, Narrated

I cut and pasted several clips from numerous YouTube videos.  I downloaded the videos using http://en.savefrom.net/. I then opened iMove and loaded the videos I had just previously downloaded. In iMovie, I trimmed and edited the video to use only the portions I want. I did this by dragging the yellow bar to the left and right in the timeline. Right after, I clicked “TRIM” to complete the editing. In the video editor, because the video is edited, I simply just dragged it into the “insert video” section, created a title slide and that was it.  I saved the video, and shared it to YouTube. I uploaded it to my channel and published it to the public.  Below are a few photos to document my process.

Mash Up 3

image1-3

For this assignment, two video game covers needed to be combined into one game. I chose to do Call of Duty and Destiny for the two games. I think this turned out pretty good! It was rather easy to make but I guess that is why it was only worth two and a half stars. I started off my gathering two pictures from each game, then I collaged them into one picture and found a way to write on the picture using an app.

Mash Up 2

This assignment was worth four stars in the assignment bank. The assignment was to combine two movie scenes or covers. The change couldn’t be obviously. I chose tow pretty common movies and I think it turned out pretty well. Especially for my first time doing something like this!

Mash Up 1

image1-2Heart-Eyes

This assignment was worth three and a half stars in the assignment bank. I thought this one was pretty easy and it actually turned out to give me a good laugh. I chose to do the heart eye emoji. I took a picture and then edited it while in snapchat to create the eyes.

Emoji Mash Up

2Q==

This was a mash up assignment and it was worth 3 and a half stars. This assignment was to match a friend with a facial expression that is similar and put them next to each other for comparison. I chose my good friend my host character the death whisperer since you can see she isn’t the one to smile at the camera. So I chose the emoji with no smile because her eyes are the only thing that have any expression in the photo so I thought it matched her perfectly. I found the emoji image on google images and then I took the images and put them through a collage maker on a website and above is the final product. I went through a few emojis before I came upon this one. The first one that I found was a purple evil emoji but even though that is her personality it doesn’t match her facial expression at all. I was trying to find another evil emoji but they all had a sinister emotion to them that didn’t go along with her expression at all. I hope people agree with this match!

Emoji/Friend Mashup of the Week!

I thought it’d be fun to do this assignment as one of my Mashup/Remixes! And, of course, I was right. The hardest part was actually trying to find a picture of my good friend Carter that would actually fit an emoji. Then inspiration struck me and I remembered some old pictures from sophomore year.

I used MS paint to combine the two images and found an emoji sheet on google. The picture of Carter’s from Facebook.

This assignment was worth 3.5 stars.

Game Of Spooksy (MashupAssignments544 3.5 Stars)

This assignment should be worth waaaay more than 3.5 stars!  It’s tough to get the words and mouth movements to sync up!  I thought about using a cartoon, because they use the same five or six generic mouth positions for everything to make it easier for people to talk over, but that seemed a little too safe.  Originally, I had attempted a two person portion of this conversation between Peter and Sansa, but that was a bit beyond my ability, so I scaled it back to just Peter talking.  It’s not perfect.  I’ll be the first to admit there are a couple rough spots, but trying to write a script based on mouth movements is a legitimately difficult task.  However, I learned a lot doing this assignment, and I went way out of my comfort zone.  This is the first time I’ve pulled a title card and music from an intro and re-purposed it, which I think came out well, and I did my best to overlay the ambiance of the scene with my own vocals, which seemed to go pretty well.  I can definitely see room for improvement, but I think this is a solid attempt at something I’ve never really done before, and I’m not unhappy with it.  That being said, I’ll probably look for similar assignments in the future to get some more practice in.

Movie Mashup

I did the movie mashup assignment worth 4 stars. I used google images and photoshop to cut out and merge these images to make The Divergent Games.15320

Mash Thyself, Before Ye Trash Thyself

This assignment in pretty simple, yet very powerful.  Mash-up your own work!  Take at least 3 things you’ve done this semester, and combine them together to make one cohesive thing.

Mashing Friends and Emojis

I got super excited when I saw this assignment (3.5 stars). I’m currently sitting at the ITCC with a few of my friends. I turned to my left, and I knew my friend Emily would be totally down to help! Basically, I had to take a picture of a friend reenacting an emoji, how fun is that? My favorite emoji is the one I used, which I thought was perfect because Emily kind of resembles it! Here’s the finished product!

emily

The making of this was super super simple! Basically, I google searched the emoji that I wanted to use, and saved it on my desktop. Next, I made Emily pose just like her and I took her picture. Then I put the two photos together in a collage from BeFunky! Hope you all like it! :)
