Every Sunday at noon, my friends and I go to Chipotle for burritos! To complete this assignment, I googled pictures of the Chipotle sign and a burrito and used Photoshop to put the two together. It was actually a pretty simple assignment!
For this Sports Mashup, I wanted to go with something a little different than normal highlights with cool moves and awesome catches. I made a mashup involving some of the gutsiest performances in sports history. One of the worst things about sports is the terrible injuries which can occur. Sometimes their stingers which simply need rest and others which can be career threatening. Though this video, I wanted to highlight people who played through pain to so great heart even if they didn’t win the game.
It took me a little while to figure out what I wanted to do for the theme. However, I think I came up with a good one and pretty quickly researched some great gutsy performances. I downloaded them off of Youtube using KeepVid and then organized them in Windows Movie Maker.
My second task was to figure how to explain the moments and what they mean. I made a few slides in Powerpoint that told who each player was and why it was a gutsy moment. I then imported the slides into Windows Movie Maker and adjusted the timing to ensure it could be read and fit into the video.
Lastly, I addressed the audio segments of the video. I used a dramatic song that I had on iTunes called Drive to Glory by Sam Spence and added it to the moments where the slides were shown and in between clips. I used the fade in and out to make it sound more cohesive and lowered the volume so it didn’t overpower the words and theme.
This assignment was a really great learning experience in trying to formulate a theme for a video and introduce audio that went along with it.

In this assignment we were suppose create a mashup or a highlight reel of what we thought were the greatest sports plays ever. The process to create this was fairly simple but very time consuming. It took me a while to find the videos I wanted but once I was able to find them, putting them together was easy. To edit the clips I used a software on my PC called Windows Live Movie Maker. This software allows me to split and remove parts form the clips. It also allows me to add background music. The sources I used to get my videos were from ESPN, NBA, and YouTube.
I love watching all types of sports and watching them. Before even starting the assignment, I knew the type of theme I wanted for this video. I wanted to go with the most clutch plays ever. I didn’t want them to be clutch moments in regular season games. I wanted the best sports plays that occurred in the biggest games. All of the clips in my video are from championship games or very big playoff games. I felt that anyone can be clutch in a regular game but the true stars come out in the biggest games when everyone is watching.
The thing I enjoy most about almost all of the clips is that I watched most of them live when they occurred, except for the Michael Jordan clip. For all of these clips, I remember where I was, who I was with, and especially the way I reacted when I saw them. Every time I watched this video now it reminds me of all the great memories I had with family and friends during these great sports moments.
Doing this as a first assignment really helped me learn a lot about the video process and the amount of time it takes to come up with it and create it as well. All the concepts I have used here, I will take as I continue to work on the rest of the assignments.
This assignment was wort (5 Stars) it required me to mash-up two distinct movie trailers. I choose to do Footloose and White Chicks because they both had funny & comedic dance sequences in it. I hope you all enjoy this and have a good laugh as I did.
I couldn’t help but mashup a trailer for two shows filmed in Baltimore. Clips that I downloaded from YouTube of Homicide: Life on the Street and The Wire were combined with the theme song of The Wire and pictures with text that I made with an app on my phone to make this trailer. My new favorite digital love iMovie helped me to combine everything together. It’s been years since I’ve watched Homicide: Life on the Street but after doing this 5 star assignment, I might just have to re-watch it once the semester is over.
I download scenes from The Wire and Homicide: Life on the Street and mashed them up in my iMovie app along with the song I downloaded from The Wire (“Way Down in the Hole” by The Blind Boys of Alabama) since both shows were filmed in Baltimore.
Original Assignment (3 stars)
For this assignment, I decided to browse Youtube in search of some kind of speech or debate. Originally, I thought about using clips of Bill O’Reilly getting “owned” on his own show (can’t stand that guy) but decided to pass. About five minutes later, I found a video from Piers Morgan’s show discussing gun control. His guest was radio host, Alex Jones. The two got into a heated debate (mainly Alex) about the issue. The discussion lasted about twenty minutes. I converted the video into mp3 format, and ended up using about three minutes of it. My final task was to find an instrumental to throw in the background. My iTunes library is full of instrumentals, so I just chose one from there. Both tracks were imported in Logic (production software), where my next step was to balance out the levels. I did not want the music to drain out the conversation that was taking place, so balancing the levels of each track is very important.
For a smooth start and finish, I applied fades at the beginning and end of both tracks. A noise gate (used to eliminate unwanted noise in audio) and a limiter (prevents audio from being too loud and distorted) were also applied to improve the overall sound. Here is the final product of my mashup.
For this assignment, I had the task of mashing up something along the lines of a public apology, a commercial, or a pandering political speech with an accompanying tune. I decided to go with a collection of pandering political speeches by good ole George Bush. Politics aside, he had his fair share of gaffes and humorous moments which I though would go well with a whimsical song. I eventually settled on a song called Westminster Cathedral by The New Vaudeville Band and I think it turned out alright.
As far as completing this assignment, I started off in Youtube trying to find both a good speech and song. Once I found them, I used YoutubeMp3.org to save them to my computer. I then upload both to Audacity and edited them to necessity. Since the Speech was longer than the song, quite a bit was trimmed off and it took out some laughing sequences to make the speech more apparent. Here’s a screenshot of what it looked like when done. The speech was on the top and the song on the bottom.

For this particular piece I wanted to bring something from our childhood and make it new and improved. I decided to pick something that we can dance to and that had a beat. I call this where London Bridge Meets Techno!
