Marine Sky

Mashup assignment

Not sure if this was one of the mashup assignments….

So, I taught myself how to mask a picture/video. I’m not that good but I did something simple. It was actually fun to do and I did so many of them as practice. This technique wasn’t bad, I had trouble changing the video dimensions to fit the image dimensions and vice versa so that’s why there are black bars on the side. I think when I resized it, it lost it’s resolution. so sad. I went to gimp to the mask. It was a kind of long process trying to make the sky transparent. And even though it’s only 10 seconds, it took me 2 hours to finish. But overall I am happy with the results.

HOW IT WORKS:
1.) I took images and videos from pexels.com

2.) I then opened GIMP and added a transparent layer and foreground (black).
3.) On the transparent layer, I color whatever I want to hide (mask) with white.
4.) I then export it as a png transparent image into the transitions folder of openshot.
5.) I open openshot and export the images and videos that I need and add them to the timeline. I then add the image that I partially masked (which is a transition now) and layer it over the original image. (the videos are layered below the the image
6.) I remove the keyframe of the image (transition) and put it to 0.
7.) I then resize the video (only if I need to) by rightclicking the video in the timeline, to fit the image.
8.) I then add the music from freesound.org

emoji comparison

???? (I’m rating it a 2 personally)

Hey guys! So this assignment was very simple and easy to do. I just had to take a picture of a friend doing something in the moment that looks like one of the emojis on a phone. My sister was with me doing her homework when I found this assignment, and I asked for her help. She told me her favorite emoji was the one smirking with sunglasses on, so she found a pair and I took a picture of her! These are the results:

Since this assignment was very easy and done in two seconds, I chose to do a third assignment to do, so that will be my next post!

What is your favorite emoji?

Text Conversation: A Wild Ride

For my second and final mashup assignment this week, I chose to do the Storytelling Through Text Mashup Assignment.

In order to complete this assignment, I used my friend’s laptop that had Final Cut Pro installed on it and downloaded a plug-in that simulates text conversations. Entering my script I had written into each text bubble was time consuming but I think the end result came out really well. The bouncy, fun music was also a nice touch.

Stranger Things feat. E.T.

This Movie Mashup (4.5 stars) asks you to find a movie you like, find one that it is compared to, and then create a poster that includes the two. Well, Stranger Things isn’t a movie, but it does have so many 80s references, so I chose that. We know Stranger Things pays homage to lots … Continue reading “Stranger Things feat. E.T.”

Laugh Track Beetlejuice!

For my last regular mashup assignment of the week I decided to tackle the Inappropriate Laughter assignment. For this assignment I relied heavily on iMovie, FreeSound.org, and Movie Clips.

First, I had to choose a movie clip. I went with Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice, a film first released in 1988. It’s not really a horror movie, but more on the creepy comical side (my favorite scene is the Day-o dinner scene).

After choosing the clip, I went to FreeSound.org to find laughing sounds. I realized listening to different laughs over and over can get a little annoying after a while ?. I also added an “uh-oh” sound in clip.

After gathering all the materials I embedded everything into iMovie to put it all together. I had to adjust some of the noise levels on the audio clips, as I didn’t want the laughter to overpower the actual dialogue.

Lastly, I uploaded the finished product to Vimeo.

Emojis

The last mashup assignment that I did was Mashing Friends and Emojis. In this assignment, I had to take a picture of one of my friends recreating an emoji and then compare them to each other.

For this assignment, I tasked my roommate to be the person recreating the emoji. First we had to figure out what emoji we wanted to do. We tried a bunch of different emojis before we decided on the final one.

Once we had picked an emoji, I started taking photos of my roommate recreating it. It took a couple of tries but I am really happy on how the final product came out!

Did you just sneeze on me?

You mean I can include my dog? Done. I’ll take any opportunity that allows me to video or take pictures of my pups, so when I saw the Talking Dog Mashup (4 stars), I knew I had to do it. My frenchie, Frankie, doesn’t really bark, so I had to figure out a way to … Continue reading “Did you just sneeze on me?”

Where’s Waldo

Pokemon and Super Smash Bros Ultimate are two of my favorite games so I added them together in this mash-up. I wanted to try Super Smash and Dragon Quest but I couldn’t find a good picture to mash up. But then I found this and I decided to go with Pokemon. The figures Mii Brawlers which are fighters on SSBU. Their skins (clothes) are based on Team Rocket, an organization bent on exploiting Pokemon. So it’s a whole mash-up that fits perfectly. And for the Remix of this assignment see if you can find Waldo, you know the one. So see if you can find Waldo.

For this assignment, Video Game Cover Mashup, I downloaded the picture and uploaded it to Pixlr. Then I added the different titles to it. After that, I uploaded it here using the Image button.

Your very own Spubble

This assignment was really interesting. I was looking for many pictures to use and I finally found one that was based on a true story. I was hanging outside on a hotel with the heat baking my skin. After a while, I headed back to the beach with my family and I decided to take off the headband and…oh boy. There was a division like a pure division of color on my forehead. So I decided to talk about that in my thought bubble. Also, this was a Remix edition so I have a fake mustache on the picture. I downloaded my picture from Google photos, downloaded the mustache and bubble from Google Images, and then added them together using Pixlr.

Garbage Patch Kids!

My second assignment of the week was inspired by my first assignment, but this time follows the Logo Switch Up assignment rules.

While looking for inspiration for my first assignment, I stumbled upon the logos for Cabbage Patch Kids and Garbage Pail Kids. I knew it would be a fun mash-up. Cabbage Patch Kids were popular dolls in the 1980’s and Garbage Pail Kids were a play on baseball trading cards.

To start I needed to find a clear and editable Cabbage Patch logo. Similar to with my first assignment, to eliminate the unwanted logo letters, I “Quick Selected” the components I wanted to keep and painted over everything else with white to match with the pre-existing background.

The next step was to get the Garbage Pail Kids logo. I was able to locate a logo someone had already created.

Next, I knew I wanted to incorporate a Garbage Pail Kid to replace the Cabbage Patch baby on the logo. After a little searching I found one of the original kids.

I isolated the head, erased the rest, and put it all together for the finished product. Looking back, the hear is a little pixilated, I should have soothed out the edges and maybe manipulated the resolution to make it look less Photoshopped and more cohesive.
