Fake Radio Commercial

I had a little fun creating this radio commercial. I decided on the show Sleepy Hollow to create a product for because it is one of my all time favorites. I noticed how much the characters needed to know where the different horsemen were and how they always found them at the end of the episode. So, I created something that would make this encounter easier. So, I present to you, Horsemen 3.0.

“Where Will You Be When..?” Disaster Insurance Commercial

Fitting with the theme of our radio show “Where Were You When..?”, I created a commercial for disaster insurance titled “Where Will You Be When..?”.  The premise of our show is about our experiences surrounding various events, and this commercial fits into that theme by offering listeners a way to protect themselves from various events that could have an adverse effect on their lives.  In the commercial, I mention various disasters that the service insures for, such as fire, floods, and raging storms.  These are all real disasters that thousands of people around world deal with on a daily basis, and most people at least once at some point in their lives.  The sound clips that I used include a crackling fire, rushing water, howling winds, and a generic emergency alert sound.  The voice over was done by myself.

Shhh they’re listening

If this message has gotten out, then I’ve probably been captured by the powers that be. They had eyes and ears everywhere man. I thought I could avoid them forever, but they were too resourceful. They feared how much I knew. Well those big heads in the government probably didn’t bank on me keeping a secret digital cache with everything I had on them. I just hopes the fail-safe works and it releases before they dispose of me, or worse, brainwash me into their puppet.

Don’t make my mistake. These people can help. Save yourself, and don’t let them know what you know.

Radio Commercial – Seinfeld needed Mobile Phones!!!

This audio assignment is called “DS106 Radio Commercial” and the purpose is to create an audio file that emulates a commercial you may hear on the radio. However, the catch is that you need to advertise something that could be useful for characters in a TV show or movie. The first show I thought of was Seinfeld!! The premise for many of their episodes revolve around the 4 main characters communicating with each other and losing each other around the streets of New York. Imagine how different the show would  have been if mobile technology was as prevalent then as it is now.

I first looked up some situations in the show where the characters could have used a mobile phone, this site was very helpful. I then collected different audio clips and imported them into the tool, Audacity, where I layered the sound. The commercial is comprised of three sounds: A mobile phone ringing (downloaded here), my voice (using SoundCloud), and background music (Kaskake – LAX to JFK) that I had on my computer.

I thought it all came together nicely, I tried lowering my voice to make it more suspenseful and raised the volume of the music when fading out at the end.

Radio Commercial for LoDown

I created a commercial for the LoDown. I wanted it to seem kind of epic so I decided to use the song Wake Up by Rage Against the Machine. I took audio from LoDown-18 of Groom asserting his need for dominance and a superior cyber-race of ds106er’s and added it over the song at the point right before the drop in the song. SoundCloud kept removing the audio because I obviously don’t own the rights to the song, so I have just uploaded the file to my blog.

Create a commercial featuring an item that you have invented that would be extremely useful to your favorite movie or TV Show character. Try to be as creative and abstract as possible. Must include sound effects or background music and be at least 20 seconds in length.

This is my commercial for the DS106 Radio station. It is a travel commercial, trying to get people to come to the city “Homeland”. It is based on the episode “Walking Distance” from the Twilight Zone show. Come to Homewood, where the past comes alive!

Listen to the Reading Rainbow!

S/O to my girl Katy for making this a challenge!

This challenge was so much fun! All you have to do is create a commercial and include music that plays in the background! Now for this commercial I used Jim Groom’s studio! It was so cool! I used Audacity to record this commercial! I spoke into a mic that Jim had in his studio. I wrote up what I wanted to say! I used an episode from the Twilight Zone! Can you guess which one?

Really listen to what I say! But if you don’t know who I am, that is not my voice. Well I mean its me talking but I edited the voice! I made the voice a higher pitch to make it sound like a little kid saying the commercial. It was so funny changing the pitch! In Audacity go to effect on the top tab and then change pitch!I Its very easy! I added a song called Reading Rainbow for the background music! You should listen to it after you listen to my commercial! You will totally get it! We had the sound playing and put the pic to the computer and then recorded it in Audacity and had the two audio’s playing at once!

For this commercial I added a new invention that might have been useful for this one character! Good luck trying to figure out what invention I am hinting to and to what episode from the Twilight Zone that I used!

I worked with my radio group using Jim Groom’s awesome recording studio to tape this commercial. We got SUPER abstract with this one! We decided to create primitive contact lenses in a world where they did not exist. Can you guess that world?

Yep it is from the episode of Time Enough At Last. Imagine if Bemis had the chance to own contact lenses!!
