Me: “I need to record you for a class project, just act natural”
Friends #1: “Ok!” *fart noise* “Emily why are you pooping with the door open?!”
Friend #2: *sex moans*
Friend #3: “JOIN MY NUDIST COLONY!”
This is how the majority of this project went for me…
Our goal with this assignment was to produce an audio track consisting of various sounds from our day. The directions stated, “Record different sounds throughout your day. It can be as long or as short as you’d like. When you finish, combine them into one long sound of your day! Upload it to SoundCloud.” If you have nothing better to do then you should take a listen:
[Worth 3 stars]
I did have to bend the rules just ever so slightly. By the time I got all my sounds uploaded at 11PM I realized I forgot to record my car sounds. Such as, the door opening and shutting, and the start of my car. Now I guess I could have dragged my lazy ass out of bed and down three flights of stairs to my car, but lets be serious…I’m not trying to get shanked for a class project. I maybe #4life but I’m not trying to #LoseMyLife. So I referred back to freesound.org and found the two sounds I was looking for. Other than that, everything is authentic and actually from my day.
I started this project by downloading the soundcloud app on my phone. This app makes it really easy to compile all your sounds. You simply hit the record button and once you press stop, it automatically uploads the sound file to the website for you. Once all of my sounds were uploaded I had difficulty figuring out how to download them onto my computer. After fiddling around for a while I finally got it figured out:
First you have to add tags. You can not make your song downloadable without tags. You do this by first clicking on the edit button under your audio file (see picture below).
Next, you add your tags (see picture below).
Lastly, you click on the “permissions” tab, and click the hollow circle next to “enable downloads” and once it turns orange save all your changes (see picture below). After you have followed those three steps, your audio file now becomes downloadable.
After I downloaded all of my audio that I collected throughout the day, I opened them all in my audacity application. I then arranged them in their proper order, did a little bit of trimming and amplifying. Once I had them arranged perfectly I exported the file to my desktop as an mp3 file, then proceeded to upload it to soundcloud.
This was a very and easy project to complete, except my friend purposefully trying to sabotage me! Believe me, the audio of them that I put in there is pg compared to some of the other audio they gave me.
