For this assignment, I got a little lost, but maybe ended up found again? I was trying to create an audio recording of the character I created for one of this week’s assignments. I wanted it to be the one I took from the archetype bank because I had already spent some time thinking about Erin and what she did in a day-to-day setting. I recorded my voice using audacity, I started to edit it so that it sounded different. And then it went all downhill. I think.
See, it went from sounding a tiny bit different to like an alien language in about three minutes. I got very frustrated and walked away from my computer because I didn’t know how to fix it and everything I tried made it get worse and worse. Then I played it for my roommate and she said it sounded so much like the Porgs from the new Star Wars movie and my opinion turned around. While yes, this character I created wasn’t speaking in English the way I wanted her to be, she was speaking in some alien language. With that in my head, I kept playing around with things until I got it to a point that I liked and I ran with it. I know it is obviously really hard to understand, there is a story there. I had Erin talk about her kids and what she does every day. She talks about going to the gym and getting ready for her day. I don’t know if this actually fills this assignment, but I had a really good time playing around with all of the cool and crazy things you can do with Audacity. I know I am going to need some time to get better about learning how to use Audacity for real things, but for now I am having a great time making my own little laien lanugages.
