Humming Away

I always get tunes stuck in my head. There have been many nights where I am winding down getting ready to go to sleep and boom a song gets stuck in my head and will not go away. After doing this assignment, I literally had this song playing on repeat the entire rest of the day.

Humming

The prompt

Like I said in my last post, I have had this song in me head for MONTHS. I love it, but it gets old. Anyway, here’s my version of Gene Autry’s take on the song. It’s only one verse and one chorus since they’re the same music and it gets repetitive without the words. I’m humming into my computer’s microphone, so it’s not a complicated process to make. This song is in a weird place in my range, so I know it isn’t great, but I did what was requested of me.

Guess the Song

Audio Assignment #2

For this assignment we had to choose one song that has been stuck in our head and hum it. I didn’t have any songs stuck in my head at the moment so I choose a pretty well know children’s song and hummed that instead! Can you guess what it is?

Beautiful Dreamer, Awake Unto Me

Humming my way downtown

As soon as I started you should know what this song is. It is a classic. From the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson. Billie Jean is the song. When I first found this assignment I was trying to think of a modern-day song that I enjoy listening to. But this song instantly came into my head and that’s what I used.

For the assignment, Humming Away, I used the voice memos app on my iPhone to record myself humming. After that, I save it to my iCloud and then on my laptop I download the file to my laptop. I then go to Zamzar to convert the m4a file into an mp3 file.

Just Hum It

Today, I settled on doing the Humming Away audio assignment and thought I’d connect it to our 80s theme by humming along to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It,” because it’s the first 80s song that initially comes to mind for me. Just hum it!

80’s THEME SONGS: Name that tune!

? hmm hm hm hmmm hm hm hm hmmm,
hm hm hm hm hm hm hmmmm ?

???

I was humming away this week with the assignment, Humming Away! (I’m so sorry to everyone listening; I’m not great at humming). The description for this assignment is as follows:

“I always have songs stuck in my head at the worst times and giving the song a little hum is always a good way to get it out of your head (or sometimes make it even more stuck!) For this assignment record yourself humming a song that is stuck in your head and upload it! For example I did FloRida’s Apple Bottom Jeans song because its been stuck in my head all week!”

Alright! Let’s get humming! Hm hm HmHmHMMHHH. Oh, this is harder than I thought. It turns out that producing a decent vocal range is challenging without words!

Hmm.

I gave it my best anyway, and I decided to tweak the assignment slightly. Instead of just humming one song, I hum a bunch, and they are all from 80’s TV shows! I started thinking about my group’s radio show topic, and I thought it would be fun to have a little ‘guess that tune’ post. You probably recognize all of these hit songs, as I picked theme songs that are well known. BUT, can you name the tune AND the show that they are from for all of them? I bet not!

Go ahead, guess that tune!

Hum Hum Hum

The wonderful song stuck in my head today

This felt like something super awkward to do, but I was totally okay with doing this. I felt like this was perfect for me to do because while picking and completing this assignment, I had one song stuck in my head. It was absolutely killing me how much I was thinking of this song. The same 2-4 lines from the chorus were just repeating over and over in my head. It was like it would never stop, but hey, at least I was able to do this as an assignment!

Since I only had a couple lines stuck in my head, that’s all I hummed. I recorded this off my phone and then sent it to my email. I then just immediately posted it on SoundCloud. I will say though, the deep breath I made is a LOT louder than I originally thought. I think it’s hilarious though. I hope you enjoy this little bit of awkwardness for me to you!

Humming Away for 2 stars!

For 2 stars I chose to hum a song that I enjoy listening too and see if you all could decipher it.

New Thing I’m Bad At

I learned today that humming skills seem to correlate with singing skills, which means that I am terrible at humming. For this audio assignment I had to take a song that gets stuck in my head and record myself humming it. To keep with the 80’s theme, I picked the 80’s song that gets stuck in my head by far the most (surprisingly often), which is Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics. I wanted to make sure to point out what is is before you get to listen to it, to trick you into thinking my humming is better than it really is, like a ruse. Otherwise, I think you would just be left confused afterwards.
