(i had uploaded this to sound cloud and was immediately copyright claimed, i obtained all my audio from freesounds.org so i am disputing it, for now, here is the mp3

It had taken me a while to find audio assignments that i had wanted to do that i hadn’t already done. I am extremely busy this week with finals so i tried to choose some easy. After finally getting all of my audio assignments done i went to go back to our weekly assignment page to see if there were any specific tags i had to use, it was then i saw these should have been assignments that will help with our radio assignments. So due to my lack of time, i am just going to have to turn these in, so I am sorry.

I am happy with all of my audio assignments and how they turned out. I enjoyed doing the ones i chose this week as opposed to week 5’s assignments. I especially enjoyed the create a place assignment. I had wanted to add a phone ringing in my clip, but all of the ones coming up were from older phones, nothing like a newer digital ringtone. So i had to record my own. I had my girlfriend call me so i can record a small clip of the ring tone and stagger it. I also had to lower its sound because it was way too loud for my “coffee shop” setting

All the Relaxation

Hey there everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, to finish up my final 2.5 stars for the week, I went and tried my hand at creating a relaxing beat that could be ‘looped for ten hours’. I hope that when you hit play, you hear something that you think you’d be able to play for 10 hours.

I wanted to keep it as simple as possible. I thought that if I started with something very simple and built up, the beat would come together pretty quickly. I’m really happy with the end result.

The base of my beat was the rain that ran through the majority of the 0:34 second tune. I added in some steady metal-on-metal ‘chinging’ in the background to liven up the beat with a sound that the listener could subconsciously (or consciously) anticipate. After that, I added in the bongos to finish things off. I didn’t want to make the beat ‘too much’. If I added too many elements, I knew it would end up being distracting.

Thanks for reading!

All The Relaxation

For this assignment, we were to make a relaxing audio loop/ 10 hour video rip off. I chose to work on an old ambient loop that I made a few years ago and this is what came out! All of the sounds are made using synths, there are no audio samples.

Take Time to Relax

I chose to do the Relaxation Noises Assignments, and in addition to sharing my audio file with you, I wanted to share with you the sounds I chose and why they relax me:

Rain: Everyone loves the sound of rain, it’s soothing and is the perfect background noise that isn’t too distracting but still fills the silence nicely.

Waves: I’m from the Virginia Beach, so when I hear the waves it reminds me of home.

Thunder: I have always loved thunderstorms, and when I was little my mom would watch the lightening together. Now, I associate thunder with that pleasant memory.

Fire crackling: Winter is my favorite season- I absolutely love the cold. When fire is cracking, it makes me feel warm and safe and reminds me of all of the pleasant winter memories I have by the fire.

Purring: I have two cats who I love more than anything. When I hear purring, it makes me think of them.

Heartbeat: I’m a bit of a hopeless romantic and love the idea of love and being in love, so heartbeats make me very happy.

Laughing: Hearing the people I love laugh has to be the best feeling and sound ever. I love to make people laugh.

Now that you know why those noises relax me, here’s a compilation of them. I hope they relax you, too!

Calming Sounds

For the final star, I created a short audio clip of calming sounds. I included beach waves and birds, which is what I immediately think of when I think of calming sounds. I also added some different instruments, including one that I have never heard of and cannot identify.

I don’t have much to say about this assignment, but I did find it enjoyable. Thinking of sounds that might go well together and then experimenting with the various sounds was something that was quick to do, but fascinating to discover. It would be fun to edit this assignment to tell a story using only sounds. This would be a lot more challenging, but more rewarding.

All the Relaxation

I’m sure you’ve listened to those longs videos of relaxing sounds that can be played for 10+ hours. Now it’s your turn to give it a try! Create something relaxing, with layered sounds, and some spontaneous sounds! It doesn’t have to be 10+ hours long, but something that could be on repeat for that long. Put in all of your favorite relaxation sounds, even if they don’t match! Just have fun with it!
