This audio assignment was about ordering something at McDondalds but being picky! I ordered a big mac with no pickes and a sweet tea with no ice. Also, I used audacity and a sound effect (freesound.org).

I TRIED DOING AN ENGLISH ACCENT AND A COUNTRY ONE, LOL I TOTALLY SUCK BUT IT WAS FUN TRYING!!! SALAD OR BIG MAC!!!
The link for this crazy little assignment is right here! http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/may-i-take-your-order/
To start this assignment off, I found a clip of a woman saying “May I take your order?” from this website: http://soundbible.com/tags-drive-thru.html , which was a super helpful kickoff to help me make this sound realistic. I also took a white noise clip from this website: http://whitenoisemp3s.com/turbine-hall.html . I used the Turbine Hall clip, which was super helpful to layer under my voice.
I basically just recorded myself in Audacity using the most obnoxious Southern accent that I could muster, and just went off on this poor, fictional drive-thru attendant. I’ll take every opportunity to act like a fool and be difficult, so this was my chance to do it, and therefore, my inspiration
This is… just awful. Ok, I did the assignment “May I take your order” that was worth 2 stars. We were supposed to record an original conversation of us ordering from McDonalds with a faked accent. For mine, I chose a poorly performed southern/hick accent. It’s not quite Georgia, but it sounds a lot like my buddy Kenny’s voice does and I certainly consider him a redneck. Of course, it didn’t actually sound very good and I quickly learned that I can’t do accents. I recorded it using Easy Voice Recorder app on my android phone since the microphone on my computer is broken. From there, I edited out that poorly performed (or exceptionally bad) parts from my order using audacity. I wanted to seem difficult and ill-informed about what McDonald’s has (i.e. the cheeseburger-hamburger confusion).
10/10 Stars done. I should take this space to apologize for not having the Shining assignment done. I wanted to perform the 4 star “Dialogue Mashup” assignment with Jack Nicholson’s famous all work and no play makes jack a dull boy speech.
I had cut all of his parts and was going to have him converse with someone else… but I had the worse writer’s block and couldn’t think of a film that would have parts that would match well with his lines. I will be uploading my unfinished work to the phonar drop box though! If you do complete the assignment, please let me know. I’d love to hear it and I think it could be amazing.
Using your best accent (whether it be Australian, British or southern, etc), pretend you are at McDonald’s and order something off of their menu. Be picky! For example, a coke with no ice.
*shudder*
Yup. I pretty much sucked at this. I HATE listening to my own voice. Have I mentioned that before? And the only accent I can do at all decently is country. Cuz…well…I’m country. (Except that I sound nothing like this)
I went to Mcdonald’s website and started browsing their menu to get ideas. As I scrolled over some of the items, I stumbled on this nifty little button called the Meal Builder.
Heck. Yes.
Who in the world PLANS their McDonald’s meal. Isn’t the whole point that you’re in a hurry? Surely you wouldn’t CHOOSE McDonald’s, and consciously go there because, dangit, you EARNED that nasty slimy beef crud, right??
Inspired, I built the nastiest, most hypocritical order I could imagine. It’s designed to sound as though it’s for a van full of over-grown adults. But when I ask my honey what he wants in the end, we discover that all that awesomeness was for me, and me alone.
Enjoy.
This assignment was worth 2 Stars
This here assignment was worth 2 stars : weekly total at 9 stars.
I just wanted it to sound natural, so I recorded it on the spot, to help with the gathering of thoughts that often happens right at the drive thru. Everything is funnier when you start talking more southern, so I had a hard time being serious. I recorded this on my built in microphone on my laptop and then uploaded it to soundcloud. I had fun coming up with different requests and crazy things to ask, like how fresh is your frozen beef?.
This was the “May I take your Order?” Assignment, which I really enjoyed doing. This assignment required that you use your best accent and pretend like you are ordering something from McDonald’s. I was inspired by the Pronunciation Manual guy on YouTube because I just saw him for the first time last week. I seriously could not stop watching/laughing at his videos. So, he was the reason I used this accent. I just imagine a non-native English speaker trying to look up how to pronounce certain words, and stumbling upon the Pronunciation Manual, and using that in real life. WHAT A TROLL. I would love to witness that.
All I did for this assignment was record myself with my best “PM Accent” on audacity. Edited out any extra background sounds. Saved and exported it, and called it a day. Good shit. Leave me some love (or some hate) below.
This post is in response to the “May I take your order?” audio assignment. The assignment wants us to use our best accent to order something from McDonald’s. I switched this assignment a little…because what fun is doing the original assignment when you can do it however you want?!
First, I started by changing McDonald’s to Good Burger…Why? Because Ed, Kel Mitchell, is hilarious when he asks to take your order! I remember I used to watch this so much when it came out! So now that Ed is taking my order, I decide to order a sundae. But what accent to use? Well, it’s not really an accent(I don’t think) but I chose to talk like Stitch. My girlfriend encourages the use of this voice, and I like to put a smile on her face! I think it sounds better in person, but you’ll have to meet me in person if you ever want to hear that! Anyways, I put them together, and I came up with this silly little audio track:
And slowly, but surely, I will get over the fact that I hate working with audio and recording my voice!
4/10

One of the Audio Assignments I found this week was to record myself being a picky person with an accent ordering from Mcdonalds. The best accent that I can do is probably an Asian lady. This is because I am around my boyfriend’s family a lot and they are Korean, so I have grown used to the accent. I pre-wrote what I was planning on ordering from Mcdonalds and made sure to add in some “authentic comments,” such as wanting a tofu burger.
This was an easy assignment to do. All I had to do was record my accented voice (which I did do on soundcloud) ordering my yummy tofu Big Mac, drink, and 2 shakes. It was fun talking in that accent.
Beginning this assignment, I had a specific accent I wanted to emulate in mind.
I’m from the South of the U.S., including an eight year stint in Alabama, so I felt a Southern accent would be a bit too easy. I wanted to do a British accent. Anyone at all familiar with how the Brits speak knows how drastically different the accents are from town to town, particularly from those of the North to South. When I say drastically, I mean a Londoner may travel to Newcastle and have no idea what the hell these people are saying. For a little clarity, check out hilarious reality show such as Desperate Scousewives from Liverpool (or Livapewwl), the Geordie Shore from Newcastle, The Only Way Is Essex and Educating Essex, as well as posh town London’s Made in Chelsea.
Before moving to my current location this past January, I was living in Chelsea, so I am quite familiar with this bored accent with money dripping off the vowels. For this assignment, I wanted to do a funnier variation, and wanted to speak with in the Scouse accent. This is because last year, when Desperate Scousewives first came on the air, I was highly amused with the advert that frequently played while I was watching television. By highly amused, I mean I thought it was the funniest thing I’d seen in my entire life and would go to work every night and imitate the accent.
A humorous example of English accents.
So, to order from McDonalds like a Scouser.
I never said I was very good at it.
