Good Times, Bad Times Song Story

This assignment prompted you to tell a story with a song that reminds you of it. I went through my itunes play list and came across this classic song by Led Zepplin Good times, Bad times, and I immediately began to reflect on time spent with a cousin of mine who introduced me to Led Zepplin. I used Audacity to record the story and change the volume on the song and my recording. I am not going to give much more about the particular story you have to listen. Enjoy!

A Summer with Drops of Jupiter

For this Audio Assignment I had to choose a song that triggers a memory for me and describe what the memory is. It took me awhile to figure out which song I wanted to use. So many of my memories are associated with either songs or smells. I went through my ipod playlist and happened upon the song “Drops of Jupiter” by Train. I listened to the song and just let my mind wonder. I ended up visualizing myself back on a military base swimming pool in California, reminiscing about my summer youth.

I chose to do my introduction by playing part of the song, pausing to describe my memory, and then resuming part of the song. I used Audacity and Youtube for this assignment. I had Audacity opened in one window and Youtube in another. I started playing the song on Youtube while recording in Audacity, then I paused the Youtube song to talk about my memory, and then continued playing the Youtube song.

SongStory — MISSION: DS106

My memories fade over time, but sometimes there is a song that can take me back to a place that revives the memories of my past. The song allows me to remember things I thought I had forgotten. So, for an assignment, pick a song that does that for you, and tell some stories about what you remember…  …In the assignment you might want to mix your voice over parts of the song, give an intro, tell the story first and play the song, break up the song with the story – lots of options. But nothing too long – my attention span is short. These would be great to post on ds106 radio.

About two minutes, hopefully not too long.

Song Story

Here is my “Song Story”. I illustrate the times my father and I spent driving listening to this song, “Resollution” by Eric Johnson, usually on our way to his studio in Long Island. It brings back great memories everytime I hear it.

Song Story- Back in the Days

For this assignment we had to choose a songs that reminded us of something:

I choose this song because when I listen to it I remeber the good old days when I was young and my family was more oriented. As always, when time goes on things start to change. We don’t do a lot things we used to do, like for instance I remeber going to Coney Island almost every weekend. I would remeber us going after the adults got back from work so the sun would be setting and once we got there it was so hard to find a parking. But the other kids and myself was just so exicted to be out the house for so long. There was 3 rides we always went on: bumer cars, (and I actually don’t remember the names of the others) a tea cup ride, and a disco party ride. And we always bought funnel cake, and played lots of games. By the time we were ready we had hundreds of teddy bears and the car was already packed! And finally when we got home we ran to our beds and fell fast asleep.

Mama Said Knock You Out

This will always be the song that take me back to my childhood. This was the first cd I ever had and the first video i seen on MTV. I would literally just listen to this song over and over again. It’s just classic and every time I hear it just gets better

When you believe(Song Story) 4points + 3 point Sound effect story

Can you guess what kind of movie it is?

My childhood was a pleasent one until my father passed away from bone cancer and there are certain moments in my life that i can remember him being around me and we are just having fun.The prince of egypt is one of those movies that brings me back to good times,I shared with him.I remember singing when you believe real late at night after watching that movie with my best friend at the time and him coming into the bedroom to tell us its bed time and that in the morning we can sing and dance too it al we want, and that song always stuck with me. There can be miracles when you believe. :)

The song allows me to remember things I thought I had forgotten. So, for an assignment, pick a song that does that for you, and tell some stories about what you remember. An example for me would be to pick a song off of the Journey "Escape" album, and talk about the summer job I had cutting the grass for my high school the summer before my senior year. The smells, the grease, the noise, the sunburn, the boredom, the friends. In the assignment you might want to mix your voice over parts of the song, give an intro, tell the story first and play the song, break up the song with the story - lots of options. Song Story ds106

Back in 2002.
I was in 4th grade.

It is 2011.
I am 19.

My greatest and darkest history.

Back then, my friends and I were really into this girls group.
called ??????? (morning musume, morning girls)

((Thinking about it now,
they were like AKB.
But a little bit different.))

I really liked them.
I don’t know why.

But we were little kids.
We envied these shiny girls.

Back then, we were always talking about them.

My mother knew how much I liked them.

One day, she brings me this letter
that says that I passed the paper screening of the audition
for kids group (called Hello Project) of MorningMusume.

One of my friends who sent her paper also passed.

So.

I went to the audition.

On the letter, it said that
there is going to be singing and dancing test.
And to wear something that is easy to move.

I knew what I wanted to sing.
It was one of the newest songs they released
and I liked it very much.

However, I didn’t know what to wear.

My mother told me to wear something good-looking and cute.

BUT
it said “wear something that is easy to move”.

For me,
good-looking (formal) + cute (skirt) = school uniform

My mother rejected my idea.

So, I decided to wear “something easy to move”
which was

my basketball uniform.

My mother rejected again.

But I was like “No no no!”
since I heard from my grandmother that audition = battle.

And there I was.
Among all other girls who are wearing
stage costumes of MorningMusume shrunken to their size,
really frilly skirts,
cool looking pants, …

I was there,

with my basketball uniform that says
“Jaguars 7″ on front and “Kino 7″ on the back.

My friends were like “…..haha”

This was the song I sang for the singing test.

I think this is a great song.
I think this song cheers you up.

However, when I listen to this song.
I remember the loneliness at the really crowded place.
I remember the cold smile on my friend’s face.

But I do not regret!

It was such a great experience.
I will never forget that day.

18 (ds106 assignment 2)

This assignment is called SongStory. Basically I am to choose a song that reminds me of certain memories from the past. :)

When I turned 18, I got on a plane to visit my home town Houston, Texas. I hadn’t visited the states for about 4 years and I was really out of touch with the music. I was just bewildered at the songs that everyone knew.

The song that reminds me of all the memories when I visited Houston, Texas is definitely this one:

When I first heard this song that year I was like, “He’s on a boat?….ok….” lol But anyway, it really reminds me of the time I went to Houston because EVERYONE knew this song. My birthday is in August so we went to Galveston, swam in the back yard pool, went to house parties and so much more. I love the summer and the warm sun hitting the back of my neck. And I also thought it was fun to hear all of my friends sing this song every time it came on. Such good memories :)
