Bad Guy: Not the Billie Eilish Song

Original DS 106 Assignment: Bad Guy Business Card (2 stars)

I was recruited by a local Chicago group known as the Kumbia Kingz to make business cards for them. They are a group of Chicano-Latino members of over 20. Upon meeting, they explained the business cards they needed was to “promote” their group for “music.” This is their group picture. I had a 30 minute meeting with them and gave them a 72 hour time frame to fulfill their request.

Have had news coverage done of them where this photo came from

Step 1: Going to trusty Canva. Open Canva at canva.com

Step 2: Type “business card” into the search and select a template you prefer or it gives you the options to start with a blank one. For this “group” we are going to use main colors from their photo being black, white, and the jorts blue.

Step 3: For this “group” to create a more friendly and less obvious theme, I am using part of the photo above, zooming in on the two front members and create some color blocking on the card.

Step 3: Add font. This is where key words are needed and contact information if possible. For this group, some Old English font fits the group. The typical “Old English” that is found in Microsoft Word is not available, so with a quick Google search, I found which similar ones are available in Canva Free.

Step 4: Creativity. Creativity. Creativity. Using information provided as well as external research allow for best results.

Step 5: Since these are going to be business cards, we can select the “Print Business Cards” button in the right corner and edit the type of paper, finish, and number of cards to fulfill the request.

Step 6: Print cards and send invoice! Whatever they may or may not be up to, as long as your paid is out of your control. Save the file and provide to them for an extra fee.

For the sake of being actually afraid of Chicage Gangs, I did a different group which is actually a music group, Kumbia Kingz, which is not (as far as I know) affiliated with the Lxxxn Kingz from Chicago. Enjoy their song! This one is about not having money, but only love to give.

Millsā€™ Business Card

When I saw this assignmentĀ for creating a business card for a bad guy, I knew that I had to create a business card for Shannon Mills, the villain of the Steadfast Sleuths and more specifically, Sasha Kellogg. The inspiration for this card came from our group’s radio show, because Sarah and Shelley are given a business card for Shannon Mills during the show and I used that as a template for the design, including name, occupation, and phone number. I found the perfect background imageĀ for the card off of a Google image search and created the rest of the card in Photoshop. I used this image because of the dark mood set by the text with words such as crime, horror, etc. I created the card using Photoshop and then uploaded it to Flickr. I found that white text on a black background popped out more than the opposite, since the background image is all newspaper, and I really like how the text and colors work well with one another in creating the card.

Lenny's-hitman-service

For my last assignment of the week, I chose to make a business card for Lenny, the master-mind of Lenny’s Hitman Service. I figured that he might need some help getting business to practice on before he comes after me. Johnny “Corner Pocket” apparently hired one of his men to take me out after I took his dream girl. Hey Johnny… Theres a reason I got her and you didn’t.

Photoshop was used. The background of the card is a generic “noir” google search. Then the text tool was put into use to add the information. Super easy.

Shadow Dealing with Business

Bad Guy Business Cards (2pts):

-The following is Shadow’s business card for his side job. Only cause he is a big shot doesn’t mean he doesn’t like to make a little money on the side being an entrepreneur. Give Shadow a call if you need help getting something back. He deals with stealing on a regular basis so trust me he won’t get caught meaning you get what you want.

Bad Guy Business Card

Do you have anything that you want to smuggle across the ocean? Do you want to do it cheaply and efficiently? Well then call Frank! Frank is great at bringing things over secretly so no one knows where you got it!

I saw this assignment that Paul created about Bad Guy business cards. I thought this would be great to make for someone within The Wire. I was deciding between the Greeks, Nick Sobotka, or Frank Sobotka. I decided to go with Frank because he was the head guy at the port but he can also keep things under wraps. He also knew when the group was watching him. He was great at helping people out.

Now on another note I thought this would be a great advertisement for Frank’s “business” he runs with the Greeks. Now This business card would be useful before the end of season 2, so now this wouldn’t help at all. But I did have a lot of fun making this assignment! I used photoshop (again) to create this business card. I just placed the text then I took the truck from my Minimalist TV Poster to create the “logo” for Frank’s business. Frank was very good at keeping things under wraps, while still making things look like they were completely normal.

Call Black Mamba today for efficient evil doing.

Before I started working on the Twilight Zone assignments, I had to do this one first. What isn’t cool about female super villains, right? Here is the calling card I made for Black Mamba, an evil doer from the Marvel Universe.

snakes copy

You wouldn’t surmise it from looking at her, but her powers are actually telepathy.Ā  I guess she just falls in the the whole “Snakes Are Sexy” trope. You know, evil woman seductress and what not. This was probably the easiest assignment so far to do, and it was easily done using layers in GIMP.

Bad “Broad” Business Card

Great idea for literature classes to tie in with novels. Simple using microsoft publisher. If I can do it, anyone can.

Call Me Maybe

Bad Guy Calling Card

This was the bad guy calling card (2 star) assignment, and frankly, bad guys have been a fascination of mine as of recent. (So, duh.) This calling card is obvious given the recent relevancy of Batman. This is a business card for one of my favorite superĀ villains–Poison Ivy–who uses her love potions and deadly kiss to seduce and (try to) kill Batman. What a bad bitch.Ā Ā Not only is she hot, but she clearly has brains too–the best kind of hot girl.

So, anyways, to achieve this look, I surfed the interwebs for the perfect picture of poison ivy (the plant) and found a drawing of it, which worked out perfectly. To give it the poisonous touch that I desired, I used Picasa (and all of its lovely features) and added the neon effect. Initially, that didn’t show up as much I liked, so I saturated the crap out of the picture until it looked like this. Anyways, hope you likeeee.

Bad Guy Business Cards

bad guy
For this assignment I chose to make a Bad Guy Business Card. This character is from the movie: No Country for Old Men.

I made this in Photoshop. First I opened it using a yellow color and imposed the picture of Anton on the left. Then I used the filter called note paper to give him that effect. Under image balance, I changed around the numbers for the graininess andĀ reliefĀ as well and gave it that orange color.

For the Font I picked a font calledĀ Plantagenet Cherokee. Also under layers, I used the effect Inner Shadow and changed the color to red.

Bad Guy Business Card-ā€The Situationā€

Bad Guy Cards Assignment is pretty simple, make a business card for a bad guy. I choose “The Situation” because I thought it will be fun to create.

First…find a great picture of Mike and crop him out using the Magnetic Lasso Tool thenĀ IĀ used the “Film Grain” filter. Then…I did the same with this photo expect I didn’t use any filters.

After I found the background picture and used the Hue/Saturation to change the color..

I added the two layers and a couple of text, changed the blending options and Boyah!!
