Mashup (Will Smith)

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

In my completion of this assignment, I wanted to mash together video clips of my favorite TV character (personality). The character I chose was Will Smith, from the show “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”. I decided to take screen recordings of many of his funny moments on the show from YouTube. His character specifically was alway comical and consisted of him joking around on various occasions. Some of those occasions being, when it was actually supposed to be a serious moment and he took it as an opportunity to be funny. I also wanted to channel in on his reactions to Carlton (his cousin), as he was always giving him a hard time.

This process as I stated earlier, consisted of screen recording different clips of the show on my phone from YouTube. After that, I edited the screen recordings and made them a reasonable length for my mashup. I think just by viewing my mashup, one can observe the role he played in the show. I think that was the best part of watching the show, always knowing that something funny was bound to happen. Putting the clips together all came easy by using iMovie. After putting them together in iMovie, I uploaded it to YouTube and my mashup was complete.

Bob Ross Animal Mashup

Bob Ross loves his little animals friends, and he wants us to love them too. After watching a couple episodes of The Joy of Painting, I decided to have some fun with these moments between Bob and his pets. The original idea comes from the ds106 assignment bank. Using Adobe Premiere Rush, I was able to isolate my favorite parts of the episodes and pull them together to make my Bob Ross Animal Mashup! For the audio, I extracted the opening theme for The Joy of Painting and instead have it playing during the length of the mashup. The song wasn’t quite long enough, so I also had to clip out one of the looping parts of the song, duplicate it, and insert it about halfway through so the audio would make it to the end. I’m still very new to video and audio editing in any capacity, but find it very interesting. This was a lot of fun to put together, and I hope you enjoy!

80’s Movie Character

Who doesn’t love Molly Ringwald?!

I completed a 4 star Mashup Assignment to mix together video clips of Molly Ringwald in 80’s films.

I took several clips from the 3 movies; Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, and Breakfast Club.

I utilized Quicktime to capture and save the video clips on my photo folder. I also used iMovie to collaborate the video clips together and shorten the clips.

I added background music, toned down so it’s not overbearing.

Enjoy!

The Best of Creed

One of the assignments that I wanted to do this week was the one where you dub over your animals, but I can’t get my cats to meow on demand. Boo.

So, what I then decided to do was a video mash-up of your favorite TV character. I love watching TV, not just because it’s easy, but because I really enjoy the stories.

Anyways, one of my favorite shows is the Office. But not necessarily for the story. I just think it’s hilarious.

Although not my favorite character, I think Creed is one of the most underrated characters. He has the best moments and they always seem to be things you don’t notice the first time around.

I also didn’t want to do Michael or Dwight since they’re fan favorites and will probably be done with this assignment by someone in the future if it hasn’t been done already.

The Office has a popular YouTube page where they upload clips from episodes. I got my material from there since it would be the best quality.

The issue is that they already completed character mash-up videos. But, the video they made for Creed only had some things I wanted.

I took the Creed mash-up and took out the parts that I wanted. I also searched their other videos to find some of my favorite scenes. I did a lot of cropping and trimming.

I tried to use my video editor on my computer but started having issues right away so I put a stop to it. I didn’t want a repeat of a few weeks ago where I put a lot of effort into the video and then not have it export.

Even though it’s clunky, I decided to use Powerpoint again because it worked for me last week and got the job done.

I trimmed and clipped the videos within the program and got them to play automatically. Just like last week, my biggest issue was the transitions. I tried fading the videos in and out, using different types of transitions, reducing the time…but it’s still not smooth. It probably won’t ever be because it’s a Powerpoint.

I’m happy with it. It makes me laugh. Hopefully it will put a smile on your face amidst being stuck at home.

This one was 4 stars, finishing my week.

Mashup Assignment #2 (4 Stars)

This assignment required a mashup of a character and to show their development throughout the show that they are in. I decided to go with Bran Stark from the HBO show Game of Thrones. First, I looked up scenes that included him from all six seasons. I then uploaded them to Windows Movie Maker and began editing the videos to show the best parts as well as to not included too many spoilers. But most importantly, I wanted to capture moments that shows the progression of the character. I was considering muting the audio and including a song, but really liked some of the dialogue so I decided against it. This took lots of editing but I finally managed to make the video pretty short. I gave this assignment 4 stars because it was time consuming and I have now masted the trimming and splitting tool.

Ron Swanson Compilation

For this assignment we had to make a compilation of one of our favorite characters from a movie or TV show. My favorite character has to be Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation. He’s a anti-government libertarian that happens to work for the government which is a big part of what makes his character so funny. An ongoing joke with him is that he works at the government so he can not do anything and make the government come to an end. When I was looking for clips of Ron Swanson I found a lot of other compilation videos on YouTube so it wasn’t hard to find a bunch of random clips of Ron Swanson and put them together. I went through a handful of different videos and found the ones I thought were funny and put them together using windows movie maker. It was hard narrowing down which clips I wanted to use since they were all so funny.

Chandler Mashup

For this assignment, I had to create a mashup of one of my favorite characters and some scenes they have been in. I chose to do Chandler from Friends because he’s awesome. I chose a bunch of my favorite scene’s of him. My all time favorite is when he gets stuck in an ATM vestibule with a Victoria’s Secret model and freaks out. I made a small title screen and used scene’s from our Friends DVDs in Windows Movie Maker.

Assignment #2

The second assignment I did was called Mashup and is worth three and a half stars. This assignment required me to put together either clips or photos of my favorite TV show character and show the characters personality. I picked a character from the show The 100, a show about children from the future who are sent back to earth to see if the earth is survivable because they space ship they live on is failing . The character I picked is one of the main female characters in the show and her name is Octavia. I picked her  because she made the biggest transformation personality wise in the show. Octavia went from a scared girl to a brave warrior. I wanted to do a montage of video clips showing her personality change but the show is so new that I couldn’t find many on YouTube. I believe the pictures do show her personality change very well though as she matures throughout the show.Octavia represents a strong female character while still being a devoted and loyal family member , friend, and girlfriend. I hope by looking at the character transformation of Octavia , you might be intrigued enough to watch the show.

Mashup Assignment 1520

For this assignment you are to mash together a video of clips or photos of your favorite TV character or personaility.

I decided to do this assignment on Dwight Schrute, because is there really anymore funnier than him? And who wants to watch a long video of boring TV characters?

4

First off WordPress changes their layout and it’s weird or maybe it’s been a new updates but I just got it since I had to wipe my whole computer clean. And since I had to do that I had to download Movie Maker again before I could start this assignment.

1

Then I went to the internet and started looking of videos of Dwight.

2

I converted them how I usually so with the video converter.

3

I then pasted all of the videos I downloaded into Movie Maker and then went through and just cropped all the different segments, since I was downloading videos that were already compilations. I decided to do categories of why Dwight is the best in order to spice up the assignment. So then I went through and made title pages that summed up multiple videos. I added a title and animation to the slides and then wahlah I had my finished products.

Sheldon Cooper Bazinga Moments

The first, and most important, step to complete this assignment is to download Windows Movie Maker, or another video editing software of your choice. Once you have downloaded this, or another, software you can start brainstorming the character you want to do your assignment on and what scenes from the show you want to use. Once you have downloaded Windows Movie Maker, or another editing software, you will want to open your program and familiarize yourself with what it looks like.

Mashup Tutorial Picture 1

I decided to do my assignment on the great Sheldon Cooper and I wanted to specifically use any scene where he makes a joke. He always says the word “bazinga” when he makes a joke so I wanted to focus on when he says bazinga. I then went on YouTube to find scenes where Sheldon uses bazinga to make a joke. You can use any other means to get the scenes you want to use but I used YouTube because it was easier for me. I then found the video clips I wanted to use and downloaded them to my computer. Once I had downloaded everything I wanted to use I imported them into Windows Movie Maker by clicking the add videos and photos button pictured below.

Mashup Tutorial Picture 2

Once you have imported all of your clips, they will be displayed in the section on the right of your screen, as shown below.

Mashup Tutorial Picture 3

You will then want to organize your clips into the right order. You can do this by clicking and dragging the clips where you want them. Once they are organized the way you want them to be you can be done with the assignment. However, I needed to cut some parts out of my clips so the movie flowed better. You can split clips by selecting where you want to split the clip and clicking the split button in the edit toolbar, as shown below.

You can then select the newly created clip and delete it. You can split your clips and reorganize them until your clips flow seamlessly. You can also add a theme which will let you put a title frame at the beginning of your movie. You can choose your theme from the AutoMovie themes section on the home toolbar, as shown below.

You should end up with a project that looks like the picture below. You will then want to save your project (in case you want to go back and change something later) and then save your movie. Both of these options can be found under the file menu pictured below.
