Mash Up Animoji

For this assignment I had a blast! I love playing around with animojis and enjoy getting to have them mimic my facial expressions. This assignment was to use animoji to karaoke sing to a sing and upload it for 5 stars. I decided I was going to lip-sing to “What Happens in a Small Town” by Brantley Gilbert because I really like the song and the story it portrays is so true to anyone from a small town. This song is really about all the memories that are created in a small town and how the people may leave and go away but the memories stay and the sparks stay when everyone comes back to town. Like most small towns the really booming part was in the 80’s when it was still small mom and pop shops and good ole boys hunting for dinner. As well as that, Brantley Gilbert grew up in that time making fun with riding and target practice with his friends. The character also resembles me because I am weird like a monkey and will make funny faces when I can showing off my quirky attitude. The monkey is just a cute way to do that while still having fun with this assignment.

I had a lot of fun creating this karaoke assignment with my phone to post because it is a change of pace while still using elements from this class and exploring my creativity more and more. I think I did a good job on this assignment and made 2 videos because I couldn’t figure out where I wanted to take to video so I just did 2 to cover my bases. If I had the chance to do it again I would figure out a way to directly save if from my phone instead of emailing it to myself downloading it, then uploading it to youtube.

A Man on A Mission – Dragon Style

My first 5 star assignment of the week was to use an animoji and lip sync to a song. I chose A Man on A Mission from Lazy Town because i’m acting as Joe Moore, my secret agent. I sang his theme song for when he’s getting ready and about to go on a mission. I opened my animoji app and recorded myself as a dragon because he breathes fire and is coming for blood against the Russians. He is seeking revenge and he really wants Maria back so he will do all it takes… maybe even kill…. This animal fit, this song fit, and Joe is out for revenge and ready to defeat the Russians and do what the song says…. be super secretive and win… You can see my youtube video here. (the calibration on this thing sucks just FYI, I actually know the words because I used to watch this as a kid)

Did someone say karaoke?

For my final mashup assignment this week I decided to do another 5 star assignment. I believe partaking in two 5 star assignments, ultimately getting me to the overall assigned 10, makes it easier on myself. I rather challenge myself with higher star assignments because it helps build my creativity as well as allows myself to put enough effort into my blog posts.

With that being said I decided to partake in a mashup assignment called Animoji Karaoke. This 5 star assignment asked that…

Have an iPhone? Create yourself using Apple’s Animoji and sing or lip sing to your favorite song! Save the video and upload it to your blog. Make sure to include 1) Why do you think your character looks like you? 2) Why did you chose this song? This mashup includes elements from video, audio, and written work.

This seemed like such a fun assignment to partake in because I love the iPhones new feature of Animoji. I believe it’s a unique way to interact with others and also help build on individual design and creativity skills. Likewise I love karaoke and have no problem belting out any and every song.

That being said I wanted to also incorporate my character, princess/secret agent Juliet Stones in some way. With that in mind I decided to design an Animoji for her. I tried to sketch the Animoji as accurately as I could to my character. I attempted to give her strawberry blonde hair and blueish green eyes to match her description. Creating this Animoji was real simple, all I had to do was go into my phone and select the game pigeon app that is within the messages section of the phone. Once there I simply designed Juliet to my liking and ultimately just had to record myself lip singing a song as her.

The song I chose to lip sing was the perry the platypus theme song. This is in the television show Phineas and Ferb. The is used to introduce their platypus that secretly is a secret agent. I felt doing a song related to the spy genre would be fun, likewise I wanted to do my best to connect this assignment to our class theme and my character.

Ultimately I felt I did my best with this assignment and really enjoyed myself while doing it. It wasn’t too hard and certainly helped expand my creativity. I certainly recommend this assignment to anyone looking for some fun and a slight challenge.

Helga’s Animoji

For this assignment, I had to make an Animoji of my character on my iPhone, and then lip sing a song. I thought this sounded like a ton of fun, because I enjoyed making an Animoji that looked just like me, so I made one of Helga!

It was true, it really was a lot of fun. I gave Helga all the features I would imagine her to have, and then I just had to pick a song. I picked the Kim Possible theme song, because its the only spy-related song I know all the words to by heart, and I thought it would be funny if she was singing it because she is an (older) (seasoned) operative. ? Overall, it was a lot of fun, and I had to record it several times because I couldn’t contain my laughter.

Memoji Karaoke

My first mashup assignment this week was worth 5 stars. The name of the assignment says it all! It was a really fun assignment to do. The first thing I had to do was find an iPhone that had that capability. Luckily, my boyfriend’s phone does, and he let me use it. The assignment didn’t specify how long the video had to be, so I just did the length of the song. The song I chose was Hallelujah by Pentatonix. I chose this sing because I felt that it was slow enough for the camera to better pick up my mouth movements. Another thing that was a little difficult was that the phone only does 30 second recordings at a time. So, I had to keep pausing the song to start another recording. That’s why it sounds a little choppy. One thing that confused me about the assignment was that it said create yourself but then it had animoji in the title and a fox as the example picture. I decided to switch it up a little. This week is all about mashups and remixes anyway! Here is my video I uploaded to YouTube.

I did my best to make the character look like me. I really like how the hair moves too. The animation was really well done. I just wish the camera could pick up on some of the more tiny mouth movements.

To make this video, I used my boyfriend’s phone to record nine 30 second clips. I then sent them to myself and compiled them all in iMovie. I then uploaded the video to YouTube.

Animoji Karaoke

Stars: 5

This assignment was super easy! The hardest part was finding a phone to do it with. I don’t have a phone with Animoji, so I had to use my boyfriends phone. He agreed immediately, but I didn’t want him to see me make a fool of myself! I went into the bathroom and used my phone to play the music, while using his to record my animoji.

We had to fiddle around with the app, because it wasn’t working properly, but eventually got it to work. Then I sent it to myself and saved it from my laptop. Overall, this assignment was waaaaaay too cringe for my liking, but it was the first time I’ve used Animoji! I don’t know if ill ever use it again, its too creepy (especially when you stick out the tongue!).

What The Fox Say?

For this assignment, we had to record ourselves singing our favorite song using Apple’s Animoji.

To do this, I opened the messages app on my iPhone and recorded myself singing “The Fox” by Ylivs. I then saved the clip to my phone and uploaded it to YouTube. From there, I linked the clip to this blog post.

The assignment also called for explaining why we chose this character and song. I chose to use a fox because the song is about a fox, so I thought it would be a fun little twist. I chose this song because I saw there was fox under the different Animojis.

Here is my recording of “The Fox.”
