This is an ad for “We <3 Oceans”. You may see the title and think that it would be a movie about how wonderful oceans are, and you’re not wrong. It is all about how great oceans are but unfortunately these oceans face a grim reality. Humans are huge polluters and are actively killing and ruining one of the largest resources that tons of organisms and people rely on. This ad at first looks like the beautiful blue sea with the sun shining like the opening scene of Nemo, but if you take a closer look you can see the plague we humans have subjected the ocean too.

I wanted to tweak this assignment so I would be able to use it for our final project! I was able to create a poster by finding an image of the ocean I wanted to use and placing images of plastic bottles over top.

The Assignment

For Is this the right movie? I needed to come up with a poster or ad for an upcoming movie that contradicted itself. Therefore for my poster, I decided to sell the upcoming Dr. Strange movie as a romance. It was worth 3 stars.

How I did this

First I found the trailer for the movie. I paused it and used my snipping tool to take a screenshot. I then took this picture into Canva. I used the Green Spring Sale Poster Template and then put the picture on it. I changed the text to the movie name. To help sell it as a romance film I looked up some famous lines from Rom-Coms. I then saw one from The Wedding Date and despite having never seen the movie I thought it was cheesy so I used it. I am happy with the end result and I’m happy to get back to a design-like assignment since I think those have been my favorite so far.

For this mashup assignment I had to make a movie poster that contradicts the title of the movie. I have had “We don’t talk about Bruno” stuck in my head this week so my title of the movie was inspired from that song. I contradicted the movie title “Never A Cloud In The Sky” by making the poster cover really eerie and depicting a scene of a cloudy, foggy forest. I used canva to make my poster!

Create a poster or ad for an upcoming movie. Let the ad’s theme and movie contradict themselves. For instance, you can have your movie be about kids playing on a Summer day, but your ad shows a spooky side to the plot. A good “everything is not what it seems” kicker. Your movie could be an action packed movie called “Fight It”, but in your ad you can show everyone laughing as if it is a comedy. There are many ways you can mashup this assignment. Make it your own!

I used Canva to complete this assignment. I chose to make a poster with this more light-hearted food background that contradicts the theme of the title of the movie: “The End of the World.”

For this assignment I had to create a movie poster that portrayed two different movie genres. I decided to make this poster with a brick wall background and neon lights to give a more night life Vegas romance scene while the image is more psychological or horror.

I chose this mashup assignment because I though tit was kinda funny. I had to pick an upcoming movie and then make a movie cover that is in a way the opposite. To start I looked up movies that were coming out in 2022 and then chose SCREAM. I have never seen this movie and don’t plan on ever seeing it because it is scary- and I don’t do scary. Since this is a scary movie I wanted to make this new movie poster that didn’t look scary. I added the title and the descriptions of the movie to my new poster. I used word to place text over the picture. This assignment made me laugh, but also if it were real life, I would be so mad at the movie producers if they made the poster look like it was a funny and kid-friendly movie.

My third mashup assignment this week is the “Is this the right movie?” assignment. My brother and I love the movie Alien, so I decided to create a poster with images an fonts that seem completely opposite of the movie plot itself. I used the collage maker app to do this. It was very easy!
