Give Me the Green Light**

To finish my 6 stars of mashup assignments, I completed the assignment, What Color is Your World? The point was to choose a colour to photograph throughout the day.

I chose green, because it’s literally EVERYWHERE I turn. Instead of photographing it, I took short videos of the things that were green. I didn’t realize before how much green stuff I have in my house!

Once I had all my videos, I opened them in MPEG Streamclip to convert them from mp4 to avi and opened them in Window Movie Maker.  I muted all of my short clips and fond the song Green Light by John Legend to play in the background.

6/6 stars.

Everyday Green

To complete my 6 stars of mashup assignments this week, I decided to do the 2 star assignment “What Color is your world?

In this assignment you had to take pictures of one specific color throughout your day. In addition, you needed to find a song with the word of the color you picked in it. There was already an example of blue and pink. Since those were my go to colors in everyday life, I decided I needed to go with something different. So I chose  the color green.

I snapped all the pictures using my iPhone and uploaded them into I movie. I then went to google and searched for a song with the world “Green” in it. There are actually a lot of songs, but I really couldn’t find a song that I loved. Then I found “Green Light” by John Legend. I really like the beat and his voice so I just went with it. The pictures you will see in this quick movie are:

  • Green Lanterns- I see these when I wake up in the morning
  • Green pen, bedspread, and wrapper- From work and breakfast this morning
  • Green Tree and Grass- Yay for spring time!
  • Green Bow- On my gear shifter thing in the car
  • Green Smoothie-I had a meeting off campus so I decided on a smoothie for lunch!
  • Green Wegman bag- After my meeting I had to do a little grocery shopping and picked up dinner.
  • Green beans- Yummy Dinner
  • Green Tea- Delicious end to the night

Here’s my work in iMovie:

Yellow

For one of my mashup assignments, I wanted to do the What Color is Your World {**}. I always feel like the color yellow is a color that is forever in my life. Also, yellow is proven to make people happier. I don’t know how it’s proven or where the evidence is. But I can buy that. I mean, I am a happy person. And you’ll be happy too once you watch this video/song mashup of how the color yellow is in my world.

I set Friday {4/19} aside to take pictures of my day and my encounters with the color yellow. Looking back at the pictures, I realized that Friday was not special. Everything that I encountered that was yellow is something that I encounter everyday. So, yellow truly is the color of my world.

I already had the song {link at the bottom of this post} that I wanted to have play in the background so I inserted it right in my Windows Movie Maker. I also inserted the pictures from my iPhone into my movie maker. Then, it was time to get editing! I ordered the pictures from the start of my day to the end of it. I thought that doing this would fully tell my whole day in a story.

Here is my yellow world:

I used effects like zoom in, zoom out, pan left, pan right, and tilt to intensify each picture. Each of the pictures special effects was purposefully chosen. For example, the Splenda picture tilts so you can better read the label on the sugar packet :)

So, are you happier now??

My World is Pink

I came across the assignment What Color is your World? and thought it could turn out interesting. At the beginning of the semester (well it actually started last year) came up with a specific color combination we wanted to decorate our apartment in. Our main colors are teal with accents of pink, green, and yellow. My first thought for this assignment was that I wanted to do blue and do the song Blue by Eifel 65, then I looked at the example. I decided to take a different route. Our main accent color is pink so that was my next best option. I first took picture of random pink accents in our apartment and uploaded them to my computer. The next step was trying to figure out the song. I couldn’t think of any off the top of my head so I googled it and came up with this list.  Most of them I was familiar with, but the one that really stuck out was Geek in the Pink by Jason Mraz. He is from Mechanicsville, Virginia so I am a bit biased towards him.

The next part was hard: actually putting everything together. I wanted to make it flow, but the song is a bit choppy. I added many effects including: pixelate, zoom, pan, brighten, and posterize. With these effects and some credits at the end I think the whole movie came together perfectly!

What Color is your world?

Everyday we see different colors throughout our day. Pick a single color to photograph throughout a typical day. How is this color part of your daily routine? Now the fun part. Find a song that is relevant to the color that you choose. Mash up these images to make a short film/clip while layering which ever song you choose on top.
