Wedding Day

My sound effect story portrays a wedding day. I started with the wedding bells and fading it out but midway through the wedding bells a church door opens where the bride enters and that sound fades out. She then walks down the aisle and there is a short pause. After, the sound effect of kissing occurs, then the WEDDING CROWD CLAPS AND CHEERS FOR THE NEWLYWEDS!!! The cheering sound fades out at the end.

Sound Effects Story

This assignment at first seemed daunting as I began to play with audacity. After having to restart from scratch several time I started to get a hang of the software. I came up for doing my story when I began watching the videos early in this week outlining storytelling. My favorite part of this assignment was by far going on the free sounds website and sifting through all of the options there I could use for my story. Granted my sound effects story I didn’t use the most complex technique I imagine were possible I was able to gain a relative foundation for future audio projects.

DS106 raido bumperrrr

Here is my Radio bumper!! At first the audacity program was overwhelming but I started just trying stuff out and figured how things work. I used a sound clip from sound cloud called THIS LOVE by Julia Stone! I liked the beats in the song and it was mellow so that is why I chose that song. Then I recorded my voice into audacity saying “You are now listening to Ds106 radio. I  then click on effects and made my voice recording echo. Lastly I blended the song and the voice recording and moved the voice recording to where I wanted it to play during the music.

Bumpin with DS106Radio!

This assignment for making a bumper for ds106 radio turned out to be really fun. I found a remix I liked from soundcloud, called Skrillex & Damian Marley – Make It Bun Dem (Feature Cuts Remix) and downloaded into Audacity. After which I recorded my voice saying “Bump it up with DS106 Radio”. I fixed the effects on my voice by amplifying it and faded out the music towards the end. Then I exported the file and uploaded it onto Soundcloud. Take a listen and enjoy!

Coffee Shop Sound Effects

This was an interesting assignment! While trying to find some tunes for my bumper, I tried a couple keywords related to “coffee,” I was looking for some smooth jazz or acoustic performance, but I realized that there was a wealth of clips related to the drink itself, so I hobbled together a handful (these: 1, 2, 3 and 4) and here’s what we have. It was kind of cool trying to “place” these activities by playing with the volume levels, what’s happening close to the audience and whats far. I kind of played it as if the listener was the person purchasing and drinking the coffee, I hope that comes through.

Bumper Time

I hope this is up to snuff, I enjoyed being able to break out the ol’ microphone, my buddy and I had delusions of grandeur and bought a set over the some to start podcasting, haven’t quite found the time yet but I’m glad it came of use. I used an acoustic sample from freesound and my smooth voice to transition to build this bumper, took a little fiddling to cut out the “white noise” (see the tutorial I used here), everything is was pretty straight forward, I’ve used audacity in a limited fashion in the past, so it wasn’t too foreign to me.

Flexin’ My Butt

Here it is, my radio bumper. That was way easier to do than I thought. Audacity works wonders. Also, I love me some MJ. So should you. He is a genius. That’s why I picked this song. Kind of a spur of the moment thing. This might be a bit long for a bumper, but I went with my instincts on this one. Sounded like a bumper that you could hear on the radio. Anywayssssss, I hope you like eet.

Selective Hearing

This is a sound effect story, created by yours truly. These are the various sounds I hear throughout my house because our house is old, and the walls are paper thin. Good thing I’m a heavy sleeper. I used sound effects from freesound, and audacity to layer them all together. It was a fairly simple process once I figured out all the tools. I really like the way it turned out. It has a selective hearing feel to it as it shifts from the noises that I can hear inside to the noises I prefer to hear outside (the crickets, and the cars passing by). I used five different sounds: floor creaking, people chattering, dishes being done, cars passing by, and a symphony of crickets. The floor creaking is my roommate that lives above me, she walks on her heels, which means the floor is always creaking. The people chattering/the dishes being washed is the sound of my other roommate and her boyfriend making a midnight snack in the kitchen. They do this all the time. And the crickets and the car passing are the sounds I can hear coming from the outside. (Yes, I can hear ALL of the things.)

DS106 Radio Bumper!

A bumper is that segment on the radio that tells you what you are listening. Example: “You’re listening to Z101.5″. In this case, DS106 had a radio station (learn more)  I hope you enjoy my version of a bumper for SC106 radio.

This was created through audacity which is an awesome free download audio editor. I go my sound effects from FreeSound. I did some fade-in/fade-out, overlapping, bass and amplification editing, among other thing. I really took this time to play with the features of audacity. I can’t wait to make something more complicated.

Five Sound Story

My five sounds: rain, thunder, birds, children playing, puddles splashing

It’s a raining day- no just any rainy day… its pouring and there is thunder! You are a child..disappointed, upset, dying for the rain to stop so you can play outside. Then, the thunder gets quieter, bird start chirping, and the sun comes out. You and your sibling rush outside to play, ignoring the fact that your shoes are soaked from the puddles.
