Let It Sing While You Read.

Video Assignment Week 4 – # 2 Lyric Video Snippet

http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/lyric-video-snippet/

You can find the lyric cards that I used here: https://www.canva.com/de_norm.

I decided to take Hasley’s Castle (Huntsman Version) and turn it into a music video. Firstly, I needed to acquire the song and converted the lyrical video available online into a mp3 using this website. After that, I reluctantly started up Windows MovieMaker and created my opening slides. It consisted of the assignment name and the name of the singer. After pressing “add music” and adding the music, I went to Canva.

Canva is where I make most of my graphics for most of my work. It is very fun to use, has a large range of graphics to choose from, and comes in many forms. I took to the presentation set up and decided to go with a black background while using clipart for certain words.

I’ve been planning for this for some time, actually, and already envisioned how I wanted the lyrics to go. I didn’t want much going on in the background, so I kept to a black background and white words. I clapped my hands a lot in beat to make sure that the images flowed. My process seems very explanatory in the video, with my reuse of slides in order to have the lyrics go along. It’s cute, I think.

Firstly, I opened up Windows MovieMaker and created the title card, naming both the assignment and song I chose. I made sure that they lasted about eleven seconds while the song began.

Afterwards, I worked on the slides in Canva. I made sure to position them in a way to show off the lyrics. I can’t really explain how I went about it, but it just felt right. Sometimes you just have to go along with that feeling and create around it. That’s kind of how I decided to go.

For most of the pictures, I decided to tell a certain story. A young woman who wants to be a revolution. The kingdom is locked up and the old king is cruel. A woman shouldn’t say this and a woman shouldn’t do that. It’s a tale as old as time. She’s got her pride, she’s got her life, and she’s ready to bloody her pretty mouth, even if the world tries to sew it shut.

A good story, I guess.

She gets the castle and the world receives a new queen.

I then added the credit music, which was Hey, Juliet by LMNT and a video in the background that I sped up to 1.5x. I’ll be using the video with my credits for my second video as well. I cut everything off at 5 minutes.

I then downloaded it as a video by clicking “Save Project As” which allows you to convert the file into a multitude of video viewing options.

After watching the video back several times to make sure the timing was right, I uploaded it to Youtube and embed it here.

I decided against doing a snippet, mainly because I couldn’t decide where to cut it, and since the song repeats, I just reused the same slides. It was a fun video to make, including the credits. The credits I have used before and decided to make it my signature this week. In the last video, I will be making this week, I plan to use that as my credits as well.

I hope you enjoy it.

Being Stubborn with Myself

I probably should’ve listened to myself. I stayed up all night watching stuff on Netflix and ended up oversleeping, so I missed out on some stuff I wanted to do. Oh well, now I know. For those that are reading this, I hope that you can learn my mistake.

For this assignment, I decided to be stubborn with myself. I figured the video would be a bit humorous for the viewer to see me arguing with myself, so I decided to go with that rather than anything else. I ended  up using the camera on my phone to record each shot because I didn’t have actually have a working camera with me even though I thought I did. Anyway, it didn’t take long for me to record everything. I just pressed the record button on my phone and began saying my lines with long pauses between each of them. I repeated the same method for the other shot as well and everything turn out better than expected.jsldhf

I inserted both clips into Sony Vegas and used the Split Tool to cut them up and rearrange them in the correct order. After adding the Credits and Title card, I exported the video as a 720p Portrait video and then uploaded it to YouTube.

I hope you all enjoyed this wacky video from me! I haven’t done anything like this before, but I might do it again just for fun.

Masked Rider Clash

The conclusion of a long battle is approaching. Each of the fighters only have a little bit of energy left in them before they can’t go on anymore. They both rise to their feet before leaping high into the air and screaming “Rider Kick” at the top of their lungs. Everything turns white as their powerful feet clash together one last time. Who comes out on top? We may never know because that is the last of the footage that was found of these two. Whoever won could now be living a quite life hidden among us.

Here I am bring you all some more Kamen Rider stuff for this four and a half star assignment. I’ve been collecting little figures of them off eBay, so I decided to use them for this assignment and I had tons of fun doing so. IT took awhile to get all of the photos I wanted. I ended up taking about 70+ pictures at the end of the photo session, but only ended up using about 30 of them. I inserted those photos in order in Sony Vegas and decided that this video needed some background music and sound effects. I went to freesound.org to get the BGM and the sound used for the explosion at the end. I still wasn’t satisfied, so I went to YouTube and found some audio of the respective characters used, Rider 3 on the left side and Agito on the right.asdhl

I then inserted those into the video as well and used the Fade Out  Through White Transition to help with replicating an explosion.  Once  everything in the video was the way I wanted it to be, I exported it as a Internet 720p video and began uploading it to YouTube.zc

Thanks for checking out my video!

Karate Bugmen Compilation

Rider Jump! Rider Kick! Watch as these guys with their fancy belts kick the butt of every bad guy in their path with their hands and feet. These buglike guys fight for justice to protect humanity from who the bad guy is. Each of them have their own unique powers like traveling at super speed, having the power of atom bombs in their feet, travel through time and even slow it down. They are called Kamen Riders.

To create this four star video assignment, I needed to download some clips from YouTube and put them together in a compilation. I decided to go with the Kamen Riders with their transformations and attacks called Rider Kicks. A Kamen, translates to mask, Rider is pretty famous the somewhat wacky poses and the constantly kicking things to defeat them, so I thought that would be great for a compilation.

It took a bit of work creating this video even though it was only a minute long. I had to find all of the different scenes to see which one worked for the video I had in mind. I then had to find some music for the video, so I went with one of the theme songs from the Japanese show called Let’s Go! Rider Kick! Once I found found everything, I used ClipConverter to download them to my computer before opening them up in Sony Vegas where I  just edited everything together with the Split Tool.jh

I hope you all enjoyed the video about Karate Bugmen.(As I like to call them) See you on the next one.

Shake It Off with Classic Music!

Have you seen the latest viral video of Taylor Swift? She’s dancing to some Classical music and it fits surprisingly well! Both her and the background dancer. I wonder why she decided to take up Classical music instead of continuing what she was doing before. Maybe she is onto something and wants to be the first to rake in all of the cash before someone else catches on? Oh well, it doesn’t matter as long as she enjoys doing what she likes.

This  four and half star assignment was really fun to make. I decided to use Taylor Swift’s Shake it off song because I wanted to create my own version like one of the many other parodies and mashups that I’ve seen on YouTube.  It sucks that as soon as I uploaded the video to YouTube, they took it down almost immediately. I had to upload it on Vimeo instead, so hopefully it doesn’t get removed by the time I finish this post or my other assignments. Getting the video itself was easy, but deciding on which song to use in the background that also matched up with the video gave me a bit of trouble.jh

For the creation of this video, I used ClipConverter to download the music video and the Classical music from YouTube. The site is fairly simple to use, you select what file type you want after you inserted a URL and then click the “Start” button that appears to begin downloading. The next step was to insert both the audio and video into Sony Vegas to begin editing. I deleted the audio that came with the music video and inserted the Classical Music before exporting the video.df

I  hope you guys enjoyed the video!

Cyclist

It’s 20XX. During the third World War, a nuclear bomb was dropped on Tokyo. The city was eventually rebuilt, but something strange happened to it. Biker gangs form different times appeared began to clash with each other over who had control over Neo Tokyo. One group of bikers had these machines that produced different colors of light trails that became solid objects and another group had bikes from years ago. The people with the fancy light bikes have to be from the future and if you ask me, I think they are one of the strongest contenders for taking over the city.

For this four star assignment, I needed to create an intro to a movie. I decided to combine some scenes form Akira and Tron: Legacy to create this introduction. I tried my best to create a biker gang battle setting and I actually surprised myself with how well it turned out. This took a bit more work than some of the other video assignments, but it wasn’t too difficult, so I believe not too many people will have trouble with it. Although, as soon as I uploaded it to YouTube it was blocked for people to watch in the U.S., so I had to upload it to Vimeo for the time being.

To create this video assignment, I used Sony Vegas to put the video together and Audacity to record the audio.f

Like my other video assignments, I mainly used the Split Tool to separate parts of each clip and sections of the audio, so I could insert my audio from Audacity. I also had to mess with the audio levels to make sure the music wasn’t louder than my voice or vice versa.

I hope you all enjoyed the video becauseI had a lot of fun creating it!

The Pie Caper is on the Loose!

If you are going out today, watch out for that for the guy who is throwing pies in peoples faces! The authorities still haven’t been able to catch him and the footage above is his 10th victim! What you can do to protect yourself is to make sure you are paying attention to all of your surroundings and make sure you are ready to catch him. As you can, see the victim in the video above almost caught him. Will you be able to catch him? IF you are able to, there is a nice reward that includes money and free dry cleaning for the rest of your life!

This four star video assignment was rather simple for me. I was required to take a clip and edit it so it would look like a replay. If you watched the video, you will notice that I did more than just that. I edited in a freeze frame and some rapid shots of the pie hitting the lady’s face to add some more humor to the video. It didn’t take that long to make, but it did take me a bit to think of some audio to add to the intro and on the freeze frame.

To create this video, I mainly used the Split Tool in Sony Vegas to separate all of the parts of the video that I wanted to. Untitled2

I then used the Time Stretch Tool to  add the slow motion effect. Surprisingly, this was my first time actually using that tool and I’m glad it came out well.

I hope you guys enjoyed my video!

Vine Remix

This assignment is worth 3 stars and it asked me to make different videos in vine and put them all together in one video clip. I use my cellphone to do the vine videos and then I went online to get the video download to my computer and them upload them to YouTube.  I used the vine of me doing my DS106 homework, then making coffee, cleaning the sink that it always appears full, and the GPS that was going crazy.

Jacob-Wolf

I want first of all give credit to the creator of Twilight saga (movie) because I do not own the clip that I am using.

This assignment which is worth 3 stars asked us to create a video clip of our favorite character. I like Jacob, is the only character that I can like, I am sorry Edwards fans I do not like him one bit, and I am not a super fan of the Jacob either but he wins.  So for this assignment I use iMovie and I used one clip that I found in YouTube and some photos that I download from google, and using iMovie I added some music in the photo so that the transition between video clip and photo is  not silence void.

Documentary

One of the assignment we have to do which was worth 0 star is to create a mini documentary. Because the professor suggest that we can link it to our host character I decide to conduct an interview with my host character. The lack of people to helps me made be do something pretty interesting, I used the OBS broadcasting software which I choose to share a twitter conversation (which it was me asking my host character question) and the other screen was the video camera of my laptop. I decided to do this because I did not have anyone else to help me to do this documentary and because I think it is similar as a webinars that are going around lately. I remember I had something similar for my anthropology class last semester. I uploaded the video to youtube where by my  surprise I notice I can add slide with letter either at the end or the beginning of the video which I did and as always I choose the music that youtube provide for the videoclips.
