For this assignment, I decided to use the iMovie app as I thought it would be the best platform considering I have a ton of memories I wanted to share. I decided to use only memories from my senior year, as I realized I had too many videos and photos If I used all my 4 years from high school. I decided to insert photos from my camera roll, and simply inserted them into the platform, and used no transitions as I believed this looked best. I added a cover photo for my title, as well as downloading music from youtube and used a MP4 converter to convert this video. I decided to use the song, 8teen from Khalid, as it reminds me most of high school as my graduating year was 2018, and I played this song over and over on graduation day. It brings back such fond memories and I’m so happy to have relieved these moments through this assignment. I hope you all enjoy it!
For this assignment, we had to go through old videos and pictures from high school and create a video reflecting on that time. I really enjoyed this assignment because a lot of the pictures I used, I haven’t looked at in ages.
I first downloaded the pictures I wanted to use. I then put them into iMovie and in the order I wanted them. I then put text over all the images explaining what they were from and the year. Lastly, I added some fun music to the end and a little introduction page.
I am really happy with how it turned out and glad I took a trip down memory lane
PS: This is a 2.5 star assignment so I am done for the week!
This video shows many memories from high school. I put all the pictures in order from freshman year to senior year. I liked this assignment because it made me take a step back and look at many memories that I maybe forgot about.
Not much is known about when or where Victor attended high school, but it’s become apparently clear that he shares a striking resemblance to a man named James Rives. Is there any connection there?
That’s for you to decide.
I mashed the photos together in Windows Movie Maker and converted the song using a YouTube to MP3 converter, then added captions to my pictures.
My time in High School was the some of the best years of my life and I owe that all to being in band. I was a percussionist in my high schools band and I played anything from cymbals to bass drums and everything in between. This video is the story of my high school life. Enjoy!
This is a 4.5 star video assignment for Ds106 titled High School Memories. It was created by downloading some youtube videos my friend had of our schools drumline and then picked some pictures I took during my high school years. I then downloaded the mp3 from my bands 2009 performance and edited that in behind the slideshow to create what you see here.
Although I graduated from high school just last year, it seems like a long time ago! My years at Stafford High School were pretty great, despite the many, many hours that I spent on homework and studying for AP and Honors classes. Four years of varsity basketball, combined with awesome friends, provided an outlet for the … Continue reading A Walk Down Memory Lane!
For another one of my video assignments I decided to do a video montage of my memories. The original assignment was to do a video montage of your high school memories but I decided to go beyond that and include some of my college memories as well.
I loved this assignment because it made me realize how far I’ve come as an individual. High school was not the best time in my life but I overcame it and made my way to Mary Washington. I liked this assignment because it made me think of my past memories.
I knew right off what song I wanted to use. “Story of My Life” by One Direction was the perfect song to chose because it tells the story of going through life and the changes and obstacles we go through. I think it was an appropriate chose in a song.
To make this video I took photos from Instagram, Photobucket, and Facebook and dragged them on my desktop. From there I imported them into iMovie and put music to it. It was fairly simple. iMovie is a great tool to have when dealing video production.
This is the best video assignment idea ever! Memories are forever and they make you stop and think, which is exactly what I want my video to do. My high school life was all fun and great with the awesome football games, the best football team, the best of friends, the best family and neighbors I could’ve ever asked for, the best teacher, etc. then in August of 2011, during the second week of school, tragedy struck (or at least thats what it seemed like at the time) all of a sudden out of nowhere at about 1:04pm everything started shaking, turns out we had has a 5.8 earthquake. Everyone rushed out of the school (which happened to be at the epicenter) still in shock and panic, but the school handled it very well and we ended up in pods (trailers) which the students are still in. This all happened my senior year, we first took classes monday wednesday and fridays at the middle school which is literally right next to the high school with only a bus loop, parking lot, and football stadium in between. Then we moved into the pods which took a lot of getting used to. I could go on about this and what a life changer/eye opener it was, but I made the video to show the good, bad, and ugly for my memories emphasizing mostly on the good because this is what digital storytelling is about and I have come to really hone in on the definition. Hopefully you can tell my story by just watching it and understanding. As you can see this assignment was close to my heart and I am so glad I picked it instead of the music video one that I originally had picked. This tells so much more and is emotional. Oh! The colors I chose because out school colors are green and gold!
I used IMovie and Audio Cutter to make this as well as combing through all my pictures on my laptop and Facebook to choose the right ones, I know it is almost four minutes, but I love it! I hope you do to.
For my second video assignment, i was feeling nostalgic and went with the “High School Memories” assignment. Now, i know you’re all thinking “wow this one is really easy why not be creative.” Well, we did just have a week full of inspiration. I’m inspired by my past because i’ve grown so much! Sure, i’m only a sophomore in college, but high school was still a little while ago! It’s always nice to look back and see how far you’ve come. Now that i’m done being all mushy and sentimental, i’ll show you what i did and why i did it. Let’s go!
Pictures:
Believe it or not, i didn’t get a smartphone until college. Yeah, sad, i know. So i actually don’t have any videos from high school. All i contain are really embarrassing photos. But those are way better, right? RIGHT. As much as i love being vain, i didn’t just include pictures of myself. High school was about your friends! I’ve included embarrassing photos of my closest friends who are still my best friends today. Yeah, weird. High school friends.. The way i organized my slide was i went in chronological order. I started off with the earliest pictures of myself (i’m basically a baby) and then i went to my senior year. If i were to include all my pictures, you would be bored and it would take too long to upload to youtube. I’ve cut it down so don’t worry! Now, as we all like to believe High School was perfect, it wasn’t. I added some photos that aren’t necessarily bringing back GREAT memories, but hey, that’s life.
Music:
I enjoy being cliche. Who doesn’t? Other than my friends, music was a big part of my high school career. Since elementary school, Green Day was my favorite band. Yes, that means they were in High School also. By the time i went into high school, i learned to control myself and i wasn’t the same obsessive girl i was in middle school. But! i still loved them nonetheless. Actually, i always consider Green Day my favorite band just out of respect. You’re probably thinking “Wow Carmela, you’re being really creepy. Why are you talking so much about Green Day..” Well, i chose to add the song “Good Riddance” to my video montage. Yes, Good Riddance. Probably everyone’s favorite song by them. I mentioned i like to cliché, right? Don’t all video montages of the past play to that song? Ha! This makes me laugh because i really do love Green Day so i can use this song without being cheesy or unoriginal. Who cares. ENJOY THIS!
IMOVIE:
Again, i used Imovie. So far it has treated me pretty well. I also just love the fact that i can upload my songs from Itunes directly into my project. I’m not lazy, i swear. Either way, imovie rules. And no, i’m not getting paid by Apple to say that. Although…. i would accept any offers if they ever decided to. Point being, i’m going to be using imovie for a lot of things so DEAL WITH IT. I do hope you enjoy my pictures and take a moment to look at your past. Whether it brings back good memories or bad, they’re a part of you.
For my second video assignment for this week I did “High School Memories” (4.5 stars). I thought this would be a fun assignment to do, especially being able to reflect on my high school years. No, they weren’t the best four years of my life but I did have a lot of fun while they lasted. I also worked very hard during high school (and had the GPA to show for it) but that didn’t leave a whole lot of room for a social life. Luckily I was able to set aside enough time–especially junior and senior year–to have fun with my friends. I don’t regret it one bit.
How I did it:
Since I did not have this computer in high school, all of my pictures are at home and on Facebook. So I went on Facebook and went through the pictures that I am tagged in and saved the memorable ones. I then went through my pictures that I have posted. Unfortunately I couldn’t figure out how to save a video from Facebook (if someone can enlighten me I would be more than happy to re-make my video with some videos in it). When I was done going through Facebook, I opened all of the pictures in Windows Live Movie Maker. I then figured out how to group them so it would make the most sense. I rearranged the pictures so they would be in that order. I then added title slides to each section so people wouldn’t be confused and it also kind of breaks up the pictures rather than having just 78 pictures straight for three and a half minutes. I then went to “Animations” and clicked on “Automatic Pan and Zoom” which picks a pan or zoom type for each picture. I decided to do this because just looking at pictures stationary for three and a half minutes was boring. I also didn’t want to make it the same animation for each slide so I decided to do the random one. I then saved the video “For Computer” and went to zamzar.com to convert it to MP3 from WMV. This video took a lot longer to convert and download than my other one did, likely because the amount of files that are in it.
It also would not let me direct upload to here so I had to put it up on YouTube first. It was 2MB too big >:(
