Take a trip to UMW

The full assignment is linked and listed in its entirety below:

Where is somewhere that you have always dreamed of going? I really like travelling, and I often think about where I would go if I had all the money in the world. Do a video montage of images and/or video of the places that you would like to go, and add music that is native to the that area or just something fun.

This assignment is worth 4 stars.

I created this assignment using iMovie. I opened the app on my computer and created a new project. I gathered the images and video clips for this project from Google, YouTube, and pictures I have taken on my iPhone. I saved all the pieces for this project onto my desktop so they were easy to find and upload to iMovie.

Credit for video of UMW can be found here

To cut clips of the video that I wanted to use, I used QuickTime Player to record the portion of my screen with the video playing. The clips were saved and uploaded to iMovie as well.

Once all of the pieces were uploaded into iMovie, I rearranged the images into the format I wanted for the video. I added a title and end slide using the title tab and dragging down into the storyboard. You can click the top right image to type desired title onto the slide directly.

When the title was added, you can adjust many features. Font, color, size, and background can all be changed for your design.

Screen Shot 2016-07-21 at 4.37.00 PM

When adding the pictures into the storyboard, transitions can be adjusted to each slide individually. This ensures that you are scanning to see the entire photo or fading in and out how you desire. Transitions are found in the top menu bar.

When adding the transitions and effects to a picture, you can change the start and end screen for the effect.

Screen Shot 2016-07-21 at 5.32.45 PM

Audio tab was clicked in the top menu bar and a song was chosen from iTunes. I dragged the song down from the list into the bottom of the storyboard. Song could fade in or out, be clipped shorter or longer, and cut certain sections out all by clicking or dragging over the green bar.

Video was uploaded directly to vimeo from iMovie by going to File, Share. Here is my final product!

Take a trip to Eurasia!

Where Do You Want To Go? – “Where is somewhere that you have always dreamed of going? I really like traveling, and I often think about where I would go if I had all the money in the world. 3. Add some audio that sounds fun and cheery
  4. Upload and save slideshow
  5. Upload show to Movie Maker (if you have Windows)

  8. Upload from Youtube onto your website!

So I have fairly recently already been to Europe, but I hope to return in the future! Italy and Japan are two places I would love to go to! I won’t exactly be descriptive in my story because I am not familiar with the cultures because I (obviously by the name of the assignment) have not been to either country. I apologize. Also, the first things I went over before my Europe trip were things to do, things to eat, and souvenirs. SO I will go over the first two, because the third one is just a bit excessive for this movie!

Let’s take a trip to Eurasia! First, we of course have to make the flight over, take a taxi to the hotel, and get acquainted with the new time zone. By now you hopefully have your whole stay mapped out, but most importantly, what to do and what to eat!

First we will go to Italy. So in the morning we will grab coffee and hike up to Mount Vesuvius where there is not only history but an amazing view. Then we will make the trek to Sistine Chapel to see all the beautiful artwork on the ceilings. When we leave we will be super hungry so we better find a place with some awesome pizza! On the way to the Leaning Tower of Pisa we will probably come across a gelato vendor and won’t be able to escape unscathed. Then that evening we will take a boat tour of the Grand Canal and all it’s beauty. Then for dinner we will get some great pasta and tiramisu for dessert! Then at night, when the stars are shining, we will head over to the Colosseum!

Next up we will go to Japan! Early in the morning we will go to a nearby Japanese tea room that smells of herbs and honey. Then we will go out to see the famous Itsukushima Shrine in all its glory. Then we will stumble upon a beautiful Japanese Zen garden that is 100 times the size of the small one you own at home! Then while souvenir shopping we will probably smell some delicious ramen and have to grab a bowl (or two). After shopping we will visit the sacred Rokuon- ji templ and bask in the glory of it. And I am sure there will be cute vendors around there selling rice balls or adorable bento boxes and we will just have to experience them! Next up we will buy some tickets to go see the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium and all the fish they have. (We will of course try to take some selfies in front of the whales.) Then we will hike up Mount Fuji and look down at the country side around it and just wait for the stars to come out. Afterwards, we will grab some sushi and japanese strawberry cake for dinner and dessert. Maybe if there is enough time in the day we can soak in some hot springs! But hey, this is all part of my dream, to travel to Italy and Japan.

Will you join me?

Travel the World

Where do You Want to Go? – 4 Stars

The prompt for this assignment is:

Where is somewhere that you have always dreamed of going? I really like travelling, and I often think about where I would go if I had all the money in the world. Do a video montage of images and/or video of the places that you would like to go, and add music that is native to the that area or just something fun.

The Work Itself

The Story Behind the Story

I was quite excited to do this assignment because traveling all around the world is on my bucket list (like most college students). That is partially why I am an International Affairs major. I know this major along with my career choice will give me the chance to travel many places and experience many different incredible cultures.

Narrating the Process

To begin this process, I needed photos. I chose to use photos from friends that have recently studied abroad because I thought those to be more personal than random ones found on Google. Next I uploaded and separated the photos according to country or continent using a title slides. I found music on YouTube that pertained to each country or continent and used a website to convert the videos into .mp3 files. Next I placed them with their corresponding country. Then I added my title and credit slides along with music from Free Music Archives.

Edward Wishes he was in Australia

Assignment (3 stars)

The follow short video showcases the scenery of Australia, which is somewhere Edward Creeper has always wanted to go.

To complete this assignment, I first found several images of Australia on Google, and downloaded them into iMovie. I then found the song ‘Down Under’ by Men at Work on YouTube, and used a Youtube converter to download it into iMovie as well. Finally, I found a video of different Australian landmarks to use in the middle of my own video. After all of these pieces were in iMovie, I edited them together and overlaid the music on top, before saving the project and beginning the slow process of uploading it to WordPress.

Ultimate Dream Destination

3 Stars – Dream Vacation

Obviously, every stylish, vivacious, and classy broad like me needs to go on crazy vacations every once in a blue moon. My personal dream destination would to be to get out of this crazy Chicago town and go West to somewhere warmer!

For this assignment, I used some pictures of LA through a google web engine search and used a youtube to mp3 converter to get the sound “California Gurls” by Katy Perry to overlap my pictures.

Oh, The Place I’d Go!

Even if I had all the money in the world, my dream travel destination would not change. And, it is not a common vacation spot either, trust me! However, it has sentimental attachment for me, which is exactly why I would want to visit Cambridge, Massachusetts. During my senior year of high school, I was … Continue reading Oh, The Place I’d Go!

Where Do You Want To Go?

All of this week video assignments, they are have to related to my noir character, also I have to complete about 15 points from Assignment Bank. First assignment I chose was Where Do You Want To Go?  (3 points). For this assignment, I was asked to create a video of place where I really want to traveling or often think about where I would go if I had all the money in the world. Since the assignment was related to John Brown, I thought on his point of view and realized that he does not like where there are crowed people and noisy place. From some research of states of America, I found a state called Idaho.

Idaho located in the northwestern region and it is the 14th largest state of United States. This state sometimes called as “Potato States” owing to its popular and widely distributed crop.

As I looked up the photos from google, I found out that they have really pretty natural environment and quiet village so it would be really great to relax and escape from busy daily life. So if I were John Brown, I definitely would like to travel to Idaho and get some fresh air from the nature.

To create this video, I found all the photos from google, and put those together by using iMovie. As I looked through these photos, Idaho became one of the places where I want to visit. It is now on my traveling places list! :)

If you’re from Africa, why are you white?

The first video assignment I completed this week was called, “Where Do You Want To Go?” The instructions were to, “Do a video montage of images and/or video of the places that you would like to go, and add music that is native to the that area or just something fun.” I was so excited when I saw this assignment because I have had the same dream vacation since I was 12!

Okay, backstory time: So I went to a private Lutheran school…I know, weird right? I was totally the only heathen. Anyway, every year my social studies teacher (yes, there was only one social studies teacher) took a trip to Tanzania to help this little tribe at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. They had no electricity, running water, or medicine, so she took a mission trip every year to help them out best she could. Well one year she thought it would be cool to teach the kids English, so she did this by having them write letters to us. So for about four years we had the same pen-pal from this tiny village. We wrote in Swahili and they wrote in English.

The girl I was pen-pals with would tell me the most amazing things about Tanzania. She would tell me about the wildlife, scenery, and how she lived her every day life. I knew since the moment I read her first letter, that was the place I wanted to travel to when I was older.

Well, thankfully, my parents are super into traveling and spend ridiculous amounts of money vacationing all over the world to places we can’t afford. One place we have never been is Africa. So because I was a trouble child and was always the disappointment of the family, my parents assumed I wasn’t going to college. Because of this, my mom came up with a plan. She promised me if I graduated from college, she would take me Tanzania to visit the tribe and have a safari vacation. Screw having a stable job, this is the REAL reason I work my ass off in school.

So in one more very short year, this is the vacation I will be taking.

Enjoy, and let the jealously flow through you.

[worth 3 stars]

Basically to create this video, I looked up African tourism videos on YouTube and clipped together my favorite pieces from each. These are the videos I used:

Then I added the music. I layered together two pieces:

I used iMovie to compile this film.

Dublin with Dad.

It has been nagging at me for going on 10 years! Though I am probably no more than about 2 percent Irish, my desire to travel there has been growing more and more fervent the further away I am.

My dad shared with me his love for music since the very day I was born, and one of our favorite kinds was Celtic music. We would tap our feet in unison on the living room carpet as Celtic Thunder’s lively music and intriguing Irish charm bounced off the walls via their annual PBS special. And I remember that day clearly as the day we decided to go there together.

Though we never quite got the chance, I still fully intend to, with my father right by my side through the form of his favorite tunes.

A while after his passing, I decided to one day randomly scroll through his left-behind iTunes playlist, and found this dear little ditty, a Glen’s gem of a jam, “Gentle on My Mind” (which I greatly wanted to use … DARN YOU COPYRIGHT!). It was then I realized that, though he is gone, he is never really that far away. And through the memory of his music and much, much more, I can always

“keep him on the backroads, by the rivers of my memory,

ever smiling, ever gentle on my mind <3.”
