This is a Video Assignment that is worth 5 stars. This video is to choose someone that is special to you and put clips or videos together to show what makes them so special to you. I decided my parents for this assignment. I went through all of the photos that I could of my dad and mom and ones that really represented them in the way that shows how much I love them. I then used iMovie to create the video by using the photo album effects and to make it really seem that the viewer was going through my family photos and to see how much they mean to me. I then added a simple sound in the background while I did voice over talking about them and how they have made me the person that I am today. If there was anything that I could have done to improve this assignment it would be to make it longer and try to find funny video clips of them to make it more memorable. I showed this to them and my dad made me put it on his Facebook and I think that was the most rewarding thing for me out of this week.
For this assignment (worth five stars), we were asked to create a montage for someone special in our lives.
While scrolling through the video assignment bank, I came across this assignment and I knew I had to do it. Originally, I was going to make a montage of my mom but I couldn’t find enough pictures of her to make a successful one. Instead, I created one of my best friend Emily. Her birthday is coming up in the fall and I think she would really love to see this.
To do this assignment, I opened Windows Movie Maker and added pictures and videos I had on my computer; by selecting the Add Videos and Photos button on the home tab. I adjusted the timing on each slide by clicking on the picture, selecting the Edit tab, and adjusting the duration to five seconds. I did that for all of the pictures individually.
For the title page, I selected my first picture and on the Home tab, there were AutoMovie Themes available. I clicked the one I liked; which happened to be the second one from the left. What’s nice about the AutoMovie Theme is that it automatically has different transitions for each picture and it changes the filter on them. I liked that it did that for me but there was an option to change that, in the top left corner of each picture. Before my video, I wanted to add a transition page. I did that by selecting the Title button on the Home tab and added my text. Then, to create a credits slide, I selected the downward arrow on the right of the Credits button. I then selected the Starring button. There, I added in Emily’s name and a little message to her below it.
Then it occurred to me, I have to add “You’ve Got a Friend In Me” from the Toy Story Soundtrack! I think it’s the best song to use when making a video for a friend. I went to YouTube and searched for it in the search bar. I selected this video and listened to the entire song. I downloaded the song using a YouTube Converter. I copied and pasted the URL to the video in the converter box on the website, and it automatically downloaded to my computer.
I added the song to my movie by selecting the Add Music button on the Home tab. It asked me where I wanted to get my music from and I clicked on the Add Music… under Add Music from my PC. Then, My Folder appeared in the downloaded file and all of music appeared. I scrolled through and found the “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.” The sound waves automatically appeared under all of my slides. I adjusted the start time and ending time of the song using the Start Point and End Point options under the Options tab.
To screen shot the picture of my Movie Maker page, I used Gyazo. I downloaded it earlier on in the course to make GIFs. Luckily, it comes with a screen shot option as well. I clicked on the screen shot button, found at the bottom of my screen, and my cursor became an x. I clicked on the top left corner of the screen to the bottom right, and my picture appeared.
This week I chose to commemorate my best friend, Evan. Evan has been there for me since the first time I tripped and busted my butt on college walk during freshman orientation. We are moving in together after graduation, and I couldn’t ask for a better best friend to be around me as graduation quickly moves toward us! Check it out!

This was 5 stars. I did the memorial photo video assignment here. I used photos from a shared album we had, plugged it in iPhoto and just followed the directions. I was pretty simple. I really like the result of it because it took no time at all but looks really really nice in my opinion.
This my number one, my one and only; the love of my life. She holds me down and keeps me straight. She does everything with me and always has my best interest at heart. My wife knows how to keep things on the low when it comes to matters of the mafia. When life hits us running, she starts sprinting. There is no holding her back. She’s the one, and we were meant to be.

This video was created for the Special Person Montage assignment (5 stars). I downloaded a bunch of pictures from my wife and I’s facebook pages, as well as took a couple new ones today, to use with the video. These pictures were uploaded into iMovie, where I blended them and added transitions, music, etc to come up with the finished piece!
This week, I took sometime to reflect on the special people in my life. I decided to take these memories and make a montage of them using iMovie. I couldn’t find pictures of me per say… But I found images of young girls who’s emotions reflect mine. The people who are important to me have shifted throughout my life. From my mom and dad, to just my dad and then finally the big change to my aunt and uncle who took me in in the United States.
This 5 star assignment was to put together a Montage of a person special to me. Isabelle’s favorite author is Agatha Christie so that is who I did the montage on. I used PowerPoint to put it together. I did research on Agatha Christie in order to make it work. Here is my video.
This is Lawrence, in case you were wondering. I am in fact NOT dead, I just wanted those little ladies to think I was so they would get off my back. I don’t need any women chasing me around anymore. I have my eyes set on one dame and I don’t think that will be changing anytime soon.
This first assignment was to create a Special Person Montage (5 stars). So to say, I had to make a video montage of a person that is special in my life and there was only one person in this world that I could’ve made it about.
I’ve just recently become tech savvy with making these videos and putting music to them and what not so I figured I’d try this bad boy out. I have to say it didn’t turn out half bad. I’m pretty satisfied with it. It definitely gets my point across.
I used iMovie on my computer to edit the pictures together and then used iTunes to import the backing-track. Also, I would just like you all to know that all of the pictures in this video are of myself and Victoire. And I must say, all of her pictures are stunning, but I could be a little biased.
Holy shit…what is happening to me? What kind of man have I turned into? I look in the mirror and don’t even recognize myself anymore. I’ve changed and she HAS to be the reason….
(for those of you who are a bit slow “The Reason” is the name of the song…by Hoobastank”…they really get me)
It is an exercise in my learning about video editing software. Not the plug and play stuff that has templates and you just upload and find out what it became – but the stuff that makes you have to decide keyframes, audio, titles, voiceovers, transitions!!!
This is my baseline video. I hope to improve with each new attempt. I will still use some of the consumer type programs because they are really cool and have a short turn around. Videos are worse than new cars – they are outdated before they finish playing, usually have a great initial surge and then become history. Once seen – everyone wants something new and different.
The more complex tools allow for more voice and direction. I will use them for learning and also for stretching my own story telling and documentation skills.
It has clearly identified that organization and quality of content is foremost. Then story. The editing pulls it all together and can go much smoother, deeper, and more meaningful if the rest is done well. That said, you can edit some bad stuff into to reasonable outcomes- but it is definitely work!
In my first draft – transitions were clumsy. I thought it was because I used too many and should have gone with just cuts. That was not it at all. I had linked clips and transitions like dominos when they should be layers. Going back in and smoothing that out helped a lot.
Having more forms of media will make it interesting as well. So many stills makes it seem more like a slideshow. Another way to change the slide show feel would be to do narration – which means story writing. That will be a must on the future creations.
All in all – because the subject is my Dad – I like the outcome. But it also makes me want to do it better!
For one of my assignments this week I chose to do the assignment, Special Person Montage, that was submitted by Travis Peed.
The assignment is to, ” to decide on who is special to you. It could be a relative, sibling, parent, friend, mentor, celebrity, or anyone. Then you are to make a video of images or video clips of them showing all the different things that they do that makes them special to you. Add music, animation, transition, anything to make the video. In your write-up be sure to explain why the person is special to you.” This assignment is worth 5 points.
I chose to do this assignment because I love honoring the special people in my life and it looked fun. It was a lot of fun! I went and searched through photos and then made them into a video using animato. Once I was done, I uploaded it to vimeo.
I chose my mother because she is not only my mother, but she is my best friend. She means so much to me and I am so thankful to have her. She is an incredible woman who I look up to and learn from each and everyday. My mom is so special to me. She is always there for me as well as so many other people. She puts everyone else before her and it truly makes me smile. She is an amazing, amazing woman.
I put lots of pictures of my mom and I together in here, but I also included some of my mom with other people or by herself which reflects other things that she likes to do such as my parents incredible cake business. Their cakes are phenomenal! My mom is also a nanny and she absolutely loves kids. The beach is my mom’s absolute favorite! She is such a happy and wonderful person and I am so lucky she is my mom.
The second video assignment I completed this week was called Special Person Montage. The instructions were to, “Decide on who is special to you. Then you are to make a video of images or video clips of them showing all the different things that they do that makes them special to you.”
This assignment was pretty much a no brainer. Since I no longer have a significant other…bitch…and Rita is my only friend, I decided to dedicated this video to my BFF Rita.
I downloaded all the videos I had of us off of my phone and computer and into iMovie. From there I edited them together to fit the song, which I “borrowed” from YouTube.
