Life As An Animal: Edna Rose

Life As An Animal: Create a day in the life as an animal. Pick from begining to end pictures or videos of a perfect day in the life of an animal and create a video out of them. Be creative! Include music to go with the feel of the pictures or videos used. (4 stars).

For this video assignment, the task was to create a video of the life of an animal! I chose my dog, Edna, to be the star of my video. She is so sweet and my family and I recently adopted her in May. Since then, she has been a big part of my life and I miss her so much while I’m not home! I take pictures of her left and right, so I knew I had enough to make a great video! (side note: she also just turned 8 months yesterday, so this was perfect!)

I decided to use my computer’s video editor, iMovie. This is a great application that is easy and ready to use! I had worked with it before, so I was excited to use it for this project.

On iMovie, there is a timeline where you create your movie. I added all the images and movie clips I wanted to use and clicked “Import Selected”. Then, I created a title page for the beginning by clicking on “Titles” on the left hand corner. Then, I added the pictures in the order I wanted. I told a story by putting her playful pictures first, then I went from there! I ended the movie with a funny picture with Edna wearing a birthday hat.

I also used “Transitions” in between my photos for special effects! I also inserted text into some of my images to tell a story. I clicked “Titles” and used different text boxes to insert the text I wanted. This is interesting because you can make it whatever length you want, and you are allowed to edit the text you type.

I then decided to use a song for my movie! I used Jack Johnson’s “Upside Down”. I got this from Youtube. There was an option on the left bottom sidebar to upload from my iTunes, so I added it and it immediately inserted it into my movie! I didn’t need to crop it or anything, it adjusts itself to the movie length.

Here is a clip of the work I did in iMovie. It looks a lot more complicated then it actually is! The time line is the line on the bottom. The right shows me what the video will look like. And the left hand corner shows where I clicked Transitions, Titles, and iTunes.

Life As An Animal (4 stars)

Rose King loves tea cup pigs! She fostered one when the tiny pig was abandoned by her mother. Rose took great care of them and takes pictures of them from time to time. She had a day off from her performance and took pictures of them. They start their day off eating icecream. These little … Continue reading Life As An Animal (4 stars)

Attention: Noir Cat Sightings

Good evening everyone of noir106. My undercover photographer came through with several photos he had had taken of Noir Cat and it appears she is still on the run. He found her in Belize, Finland, and the Golden Coast, but what is peculiar about this situation is that she tried to hide her tracks by using a group of black cats that resembled her. Just by this action, it seems apparent that she does not want to be found. She refused to disclose any information about who she was running from and why. We offered her refuge, but she declined it. It is imperative that more tips come in as well as more sighting photos since we have lost her trail since she was in the Golden Coast; she threw off her trail as she jumped from rooftop to rooftop. If anyone can provide us with any information regrading this noir escape, please tweet us with the tag #wheresnoircat @HoN_Getaways so we can bring her safely home ASAP.

Sincerly yours,

Sebastian Crane

Strap a go-pro on your bitch

The third video assignment I completed this week was called, “Life As An Animal.” The instructions were to, “Create a day in the life as an animal. Pick from beginning to end pictures or videos of a perfect day in the life of an animal and create a video out of them.”

I decided to film the day as if I were my dog Daisy. I seriously spent about two hours total today crawling around on my hands and knees and crouching down like an idiot running around my apartment complex. Not only did I feel like an idiot, but several of my neighbors decided they would help boost my self confidence by pointing out the fact I looked like one as well.

I tried strapping my go-pro to her head at one point, because I was tired of crawling around, but that didn’t go to well. Lets just say I now have a dented camera and an angry puppy. Apparently having bulky filming equipment strapped to your head is not “fun.” Who knew?

I used my phone to film, and iMovie to compile.

Life as a dog

This is a 4 Star assignment that I just loved doing.  It took me a long time because I’m not very good with video yet.   I started with Powerpoint and put in pictures of my dog Dixie.  Then I made a few video’s of her “fetching” and put them on Movie Maker so I could add titles.  Then I found the perfect song and used

to convert the song to an MP3 so I could use it on my video.  I added everything to PowerPoint and then had to “optimize the Video” so I could save it as a WMV.  Then I posted it on YouTube.  Here is my final video.

Tis Hard To Be A Dog

For this assignment, I took pictures of my dog from earlier this winter and put them in black and white, and tried to do a noir version…. kinda like Henri the Existentialist Cat. Pretty sure I’m not on that level yet, but hey. I’m trying.

I used imovie to string the photos together then used voice over to voice in a quick story.

A Little one

I am a five months puppi and I love playing. Here I am trying to play whith my sister Xena but she does not seem to be in the mood.

Lily waits for snow

4 stars

For my final video project I decided to revisit the first video I ever tried to make. I saw the Life as An Animal assignment, and inspiration struck me.

Last year my sister and I filmed a bunch of clips of my dog Lily and had planned on compiling them into a Christmas video for my family. Needless to say, this never happened. I decided to do the Life as an Animal assignment with a small tweak and make it Christmas themed.

I had a lot of clips to go through, and weeding them down was a bit of a challenge, but finally I pieced them together into a bit of a narrative. The idea I had was that my dog was walking around, looking for snow- that’s why I chose White Christmas by Bright Eyes as the background song. Screen Shot 2014-11-16 at 5.07.08 PM

At the end though, I wasn’t happy with the conclusion of the video because I really wanted snow in there, but I have no videos of snow. Luckily, after frantically texting my sister, she was able to dig up some snow videos for me!

This video was very easy to do, and I won’t lie- it feels pretty good to finally have completed something I set out to do a year ago. And right in time for Christmas too!

Life as a Dog

I decided to create my own assignment, so I was thinking of something that would be fun to do. I thought about what it would be life if I spent a day as an animal. Of course, I did a day in the life of a Niepokoj dog.

I thought about what I would like to do as a dog. First, it would be to wake up my owner, and then cuddle in bed.  After that I would take a bath, then get dressed. Once that was done, I would like to go out and play in the snow since it is winter. Then I’d want to go take a car ride around town. After going for a drive, I’d be too excited I would need to play. Then I’d get nice and tired and it is time for bed.

Process:

This took a little bit longer. I went through all my pictures and videos to find the perfect ones to fit it. Once I picked the pictures or videos, I ordered them in the outline I talked about above in my thought process. This took a little while because I didn’t know how to drag the clips, it kept trimming them. I found this website extremely helpful.

Now, I picked the theme ‘filmstirp‘ in iMovie and had to add some music. I downloaded ‘Let’s Go’ for when the pictures were about going in the car. I used the other theme music from the preloaded sound effects on iMovie.
