Christmas in March?

So for this assignment, I kind of went a bit… well a lot off script. My issue was if I would’ve followed the strict 25 movie clip part, my video probably would’ve been like an hour long. So instead, I just grabbed 3 clips from my favorite Christmas movies (but don’t fret – I did leave out Elf, and that is my all time favorite one. Can literally say it word for word. I just couldn’t find any clips for it that I liked). But since I limited the number of clips, I was able to put a lot of focus on the sound, clipping, and my title/closing parts.

So, I started off by doing the usual 4K video downloader, and finding clips on YouTube that I liked. Once I uploading them into iMovie, I then went on the hunt for music. Now this was a struggle, I had a specific sound in mind that I wanted to use. After lots and lots and I mean LOTS of digging I found the perfect one. I think this sound goes really well the two movies that I put it with. I chose to not put it with the Polar Express, because I used that as sort of the introduction (there’s more of an excitement and uncertainty if that makes sense). During the Santa Claus clip, you’ll notice that the Jingle Bell Rock music cuts out when he says “Does this look like a little bit of weight to you?” and I fully did that on purpose. The guy I care give for is OBSESSED with Disney, and that saying in the Santa Claus is one of his favorites. It’s a really special clip for me, because now whenever I watch the movie I think about him. So making this video really brought me a lot of joy.

After cutting and moving clips around, I then worked on my title/closing credits portion. I decided to be ~different~ and put my title slide after the Polar Express clip. I did this, because well 1. when I had the title slide at the beginning, it cut into the Polar Express clip abruptly and I hated that there was no flow 2. Again the excitement and uncertainty. I think using the title part a little further in the video makes it feel more like a movie (I watched a movie the other day where the title was 30 minutes in the movie… honestly THAT was weird, but I think where mine is works). I wasn’t sure exactly how to format my credits. I know our resources said to give credits to basically everything, but I wasn’t sure what everything meant. Then when it got time to upload my video to YouTube… this is when things got tricky. Naturally I got copyrighted, had no clue what that meant for my video. Ended up reaching out to the professor while I waited for a response I started Googling some stuff (0/10 recommend doing that). That then led me to making a Vimeo. Once I got a response though, I was able to actually understand what the copyright thingy meant so I was okay to post it on YouTube. Which I’m glad because Vimeo completely destroyed the quality of my video for some reason.

Also since I didn’t fully uphold the requirements for the assignment (though we are able to do our own twist for things), I decided to create my own title part on Canva. I did a quick Google search for transparent images of my favorite Christmas movies, and just slapped them on there.

Overall this assignment was super fun to do. It really ties into our class theme, because though it may be March and we have many… many… MANY months until Christmas; thinking about Christmas brings me so much joy, and that joy helps me become more creative. Though I spent a lot of this time talking about the elements, the elements all tie back into the joy I had creating this. I had a vision for this assignment, and I’m really happy with the outcome!

This assignment was 4 stars

Countdown to Christmas

I hated this. Enjoy.

25 Movies of Christmas

This assignment was a lot of work but also fun because Christmas is coming up and its almost the end of the semester. It was to create a video with my top 25 Christmas movies for 4 stars. I loved this idea and spent a lot of time finding movies and even more editing them. I started with over an hour of video and got it down to about 10 minutes long. I picked important scenes where the viewer can figure out what movie it is from the few seconds. They were all short clip except for the last one, I couldn’t help myself I love the idea and story so much I thought they already shortened the clip enough that I really didn’t do anymore shortening to it.

I feel like I did a great time, I put a lot of time and effort into this project and hope it shows. I am proud of it and the way I edited the videos together. I used my photos app on my computer to import and trim the videos after I downloaded them as mp4 so I could have a visual to go with the sound. I was then able to export it as a video file to upload later to YouTube. I enjoyed the editing of the videos even though it took way more time to do than I originally thought it could. I liked all the clips I picked to put in the movie and spent plenty of time shortening the clips from the original 3 mins per 25 clips.

Countdown to Christmas!!

Happy November! It’s Christmas!

It’s the perfect week to do the Countdown to Christmas assignment, where I had to pick 25 of my favorite Christmas movies!! After doing all of the other assignments this week, this one wasn’t hard, just time consuming!

This is the Countdown to Christmas assignment worth four stars.

Countdown to Christmas

This assignment (4 stars) was a fun way to get into the Christmas Spirit! It required me to pick 25 Christmas movies and make a countdown using clips from these movies. Although it became harder and harder to think of more movies, I managed to pull together clips from 25 different movies and put them all together in this video.

How I Did It:

I found clips for all the movies on YouTube (links to the clips can be found in the list of movies used).  I then individually uploaded the clips to Windows Movie Maker and edited them down to short snippets of the movie clip. My goal was to have the entire video be 5 minutes or shorter, but I was unsuccessful and the final video was 6 minutes long, which isn’t too far off from my goal. Once I had the clips in order I went through and added the number and title of the movie in the upper left corner. The final step was to save the movie to my desktop and to upload it to YouTube.

Christmas in March

The first assignment that I decided to do was called Countdown To Christmas worth 3 stars. I am the type of person who looks forward to Christmas time and never thinks it is too early to listen to Christmas music. This assignment just made me so happy because I was able to think of all the lovely Christmas movies that I enjoy all the time. Hope you like the list.

Countdown to Christmas

Get in the spirit!! Create a “Countdown to Christmas” Movie Style. Pick 25 of you FAVORITE Christmas movies and countdown to Christmas using the movies. Be creative  and have fun with it!! Try and think of as many Christmas movie as you can without any outside help, you will be surprised how many movies you can think of.

25 Days till Christmas

25 Days till Christmas is a video assignment that I created. I thought of the idea on Thanksgiving day while my family was decorating for Christmas and watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas. One of my favorite things about Christmas is watching the Countdown to Christmas on ABC Family.

For this assignment I challenge everyone to try and think of as many Christmas movies without any outside assistance. See how many you can think of, I think you would be surprised how many Christmas movies you know.

For this assignment I saved my favorite two movies for last, and did my best to try and think of as many Christmas movies without any help. As well as tried to get a good variety of some childhood favorites.

I used iMovie to create the video, and got all the video clips from youtube. I used a youtube to MP4 converter, and then downloaded the video so I could import them into iMovie. The good thing about using iMovie is that I was able to trim the videos within iMovie instead of having to trim and then import.
