Shut Up and Dance With Me

for 3 stars I chose the Video Assignment Create a Lyric Video. I chose this because I have seen many of these videos on youtube and thought they were cool. They’re also very useful when trying to find out the lyrics to a song, or sing along with a song.

In order to make this video, I created a color scheme on powerpoint and set that as the background for this by putting it in iMovie. In iMovie, I added the song “Shut Up and Dance With Me” by Walk the Moon, which I downloaded from iTunes. I chose this song because it has been stuck in my head the last few days and I can’t get it out! Next, I added text to the clips in my iMovie. I looked up the lyrics on Google too, just to make sure I would get them right!

I used a bunch of different transitions and fonts, and in some parts I altered the background to go with the lyrics, to signify a part where there are no lyrics, or just to have something different.

Anyways, here it is!

Kings Of Leon Lyric Video

Oh my god this assignment took FOREVER. I wanted to just fall the hell over when I was done. It required us to create a lyric video for a song and my stupid self chose a 5 minute song. That 5 minute song turned into 3 hours of editing and frustration and I was just like pwnodnw. But, I got it done and I’m really happy with the result. I didn’t want to do the typical static image and changing lyrics because that would have been too boring. So, I decided on different videos that (kind of) went together. The video turned out a lot better than I thought it would and it’s really good for my first. :D Check it out.

Creation : A lyric video (3 stars)

I chose option 1 to do 8 stars of video assignments with 4 being attributed to my character and another character from the class.

So for my first video assignment for the week I chose to create a lyric video (3 stars).

I decided to sort of connect this with our radio show which airs tomorrow night at 9 because I felt that this assignment would make that possible. When Lawrence first met Victoria, she was singing at the diner that he was eating at and as soon as she started singing, Lawrence knew he wanted her. I chose “Say Something” because it’s a slow love song that, to me, would be sung in a little diner at night. The song (sung in this version by Ella Henderson) really shows off her voice and in our show it says Lawrence heard “the voice of an angel” which is just what you hear with this song. The lyrics are also very meaningful, especially if Victoria was singing them with experience (experience with pain in a relationship and wanting more, I mean).

I think this song is also how Lawrence leaves his women. He leaves and doesn’t speak another word to them while the women are falling for him and trying to get him back. The women are thinking, “say something, I’m giving up on you.” It’s a great song and i think it fits well with Lawrence and Victoria’s situation.

Bust A Move

So this post is dedicated to my creating of a video assignment and completing of that video assignment. The video assignment I created Create A Lyric Video. The goal of this is to take a song and create a video displaying the lyrics for it. That may sound easy but it should be creative, adding many transitions in small sets of lyrics, not just displaying long sets of lyrics. The song that I chose to do this assignment on was Bust A Move by Young MC. I chose this song, because I really like the lyrics. I think they’re very comical and this song is a good hip-hop/rap song that includes no cursing in it. Along with this, it is also a classic that I feel like many people know and can rap along with it.

To create this video, I simply used iMovie. I didn’t feel I needed any clips so I just used a bunch of backdrops and added text for the lyrics in the foreground. The hardest part of this assignment was finding out what lyrics to put where. I generally utilized having a line displayed at a time, followed by some sort of transition to the next line. Depending on the tempo and lyrics, I would make some changes from this to make it look better and more creative. So, if you would like to see my video you can find it here:

I think I did a really good job on this assignment. All the lyrics appear to be right, and I feel that the cuts, transitions, and timings are very precise having the lyrics be displayed at the same time they are announced in the song. I decided not to do the whole song, this was just because I didn’t want to violate any of YouTube’s copyright policies. I still believe the minute and a half that I did really captures the idea behind this assignment.

Til next time everyone. If you want to check out this assignment you can find it here. Til next time everyone!

Create A Lyric Video

Create a lyric video for a song. Try and be as creative as possible. Use multiple fonts, colors, backgrounds, and transitions. Try not to be super plain and try to deliver the lyrics clearly and correctly.
