I chose to make a compilation video from the assignment bank this week. The original assignment said to download videos from YouTube to make the video but I strayed away from that a little so the assignment would better fit for my final project. For my final project I have decided to make a TikTok account for college graduates called “lifeaftercollege2”. I will be making a bunch of videos ranging from interviews, book reviews and other helpful tips. I will be using this weeks assignments as a way to start making some of the videos.
For this video I used TikTok to make a compilation video of book recommendations for recent graduates! I included pictures of the books, summaries and some calming background music. I was also sure to add closing credits at the end that cited where I got all my information. After my video was finished I published it both, the TikTok account and Vimeo.
This assignment I did is called Compilation Video! where you must pick a theme and download videos from YouTube of items in that theme and make a compilation video of that. I chose the theme of airplanes taking off, so I found approximately 9 to 10 videos and downloaded them. Then, I added them together, removed the video audio, and added some background music using iMovie. Overall, this was a cool assignment that was fairly easy to do that I enjoyed, and I had never created a compilation video before, so that was fun as well. You can find my video below.
For this assignment, creating a compilation, I decided to take random clips from youtube of people jumping. I took all from tv shows (Friends, Doctor Who, Lost) except one of a couple jumping on a trampoline. I made the compilation escalate from jumping on land, to jumping into water, then all the way to jumping off/out of buildings! I think the Michael Jackson song “enjoy yourself” adds a comedic aspect as jumping off buildings is the opposite of enjoyment. I also timed the song to say “oo” when a person jumped out of a window.
For the 4-star “Compilation Video!” assignment, I chose the theme of space! I’ve been planning out what I wanted to use all week, and I didn’t realize until I went back and looked at the assignment sheet that they chose shuttle launches. Oh, well.
I included a full list of the videos I used and their links in the description, and mentioned them again at the end of the video. Thanks, people who uploaded those!
The song I used was “The Normandy Reborn” from the Mass Effect 2 soundtrack. I thought this was appropriate, since the launch of the Andromeda Initiative video for the new Mass Effect game is what has caused my recently renewed adoration for the galaxy.
(Sidenote: I am SO EXCITED “orientation” or whatever on the 7th! Honestly, when the game comes out in the spring, I’m just going to disappear for a week.)
I had a lot of fun with this, trying to get the music to match up to the animations and transitions on screen. Plus, I got to look at pictures of space. I do wish I’d chosen a longer song. Also, I just realized I forgot to include the two astronauts from the Discovery Channel’s Boom-de-yada videos. Dammit. I love those.
I’m getting used to MovieMaker! I think! I hope!
I downloaded the full videos from YouTube using the 4K Video Downloader, then pulled them up in MovieMaker and went to work! “The Normandy Reborn” I had on my phone (legally! I promise!). Then, I just uploaded my new video up to YouTube.
When my family began to talk about going on vacation this year, we had many places we wanted to visit but because of circumstances, going far away or to the beach (where we really wanted to go) was not possible this year. One evening I was sharing with my husband that growing up in Missouri, my family came to Colorado several times for vacation and saw many incredible sites. My husband and two children ages 10 and 13 currently reside in Littleton, CO and we had not taken the time to see many of the things that I had seen as a child visiting Colorado. I guess when you live here, it just becomes normal to see the amazing mountains right outside your window. My family decided that we would take a few weekends this summer to go explore “our very own backyard”. We live in a beautiful state that people come from all over the world to visit – we should visit too.
The following video shows a few of the places we would like to visit over the next few weekends.
This video was produced for an assignment in Digital Storytelling for the University of Colorado Denver. The project was chosen from the video bank assignments 1736 at DS106.us. For this assignment, we were required to gather clips from several videos and make a compilation video that goes with a theme. My theme was activities that you could do with your children over the summer close to home.
I downloaded several videos from Youtube to my Mac computer. I found that putting ss in front of the youtube link immediately converted the video and allowed you to download it to your computer. For example, if the link was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zl3mr5lM3o you would add ss before youtube and it would send the video to a converter: https://www.ssyoutube.com/watch?v=1zl3mr5lM3o. I uploaded the videos into iMovie and began editing the videos into small clips for my project. The tutorial found on ds106 Video Compilation project 1736 was extremely helpful in explaining the process from Youtube download to final product. I also found some great free music to add to my final production on Free Music Archives. Let me know if you are from Colorado and get to visit some of these fun places over the summer!
The NBA Season has just recently started and already its off to an amazing start! The first few weeks have been very intense and there has been some exciting games. I picked and chose my favorite highlights so far which was crazy difficult. I can tell that it is going to be an exciting year for the NBA and the sport of basketball. If you don’t watch it I recommend giving it a chance, it is much more entertaining the other sports. Always constant action going on!
Making this was easy, I have really gotten the hang of Windows Movie Maker and editing the short clips. (I will be getting a MacBook soon so hopefully I learn iMovie just as easy!) Converting the videos from YouTube using a website ‘clipconverter.cc’ is simple and then I am able to do whatever I want with the clips. I hope I start to get a lot of views with my highlight tapes and compilation videos, I might have a nice YouTube page going!
Rider Jump! Rider Kick! Watch as these guys with their fancy belts kick the butt of every bad guy in their path with their hands and feet. These buglike guys fight for justice to protect humanity from who the bad guy is. Each of them have their own unique powers like traveling at super speed, having the power of atom bombs in their feet, travel through time and even slow it down. They are called Kamen Riders.
To create this four star video assignment, I needed to download some clips from YouTube and put them together in a compilation. I decided to go with the Kamen Riders with their transformations and attacks called Rider Kicks. A Kamen, translates to mask, Rider is pretty famous the somewhat wacky poses and the constantly kicking things to defeat them, so I thought that would be great for a compilation.
It took a bit of work creating this video even though it was only a minute long. I had to find all of the different scenes to see which one worked for the video I had in mind. I then had to find some music for the video, so I went with one of the theme songs from the Japanese show called Let’s Go! Rider Kick! Once I found found everything, I used ClipConverter to download them to my computer before opening them up in Sony Vegas where I just edited everything together with the Split Tool.
I hope you all enjoyed the video about Karate Bugmen.(As I like to call them) See you on the next one.
“Pick a theme and download multiple videos from YouTube that fit the theme. Cut them up and create a compilation video by putting the clips to music.” – 4 stars
I’m not sure I really followed what the original intent of this assignment was going for, but hey, they weren’t super specific so all is fair! I know I mentioned at the very beginning of the semester that one of my favorite TV chefs is Gordon Ramsey, and he counts as a theme. I decided to do a kind of time lapse thing of how his shows have changed over the years by focusing on his biggest shows: Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmare, and both MasterChef and MasterChef Junior. I had a lot of fun looking through YouTube for clips to use in this video, all of which are linked at the bottom of this post. I went with a rock song overlay because Ramsay is so intense, the video of which is also linked below.
Once I had selected all my clips, I needed to download them. To do that, I used fastest YouTube down loader. After downloading the clips to my desktop, I imported them into movie maker and got started on trimming them down. All together, the clips totaled 18 minutes that I wanted to get down to 60 seconds.
To do this, I used to split tool to splice out bits of video that I didn’t want. This process took awhile because it was hard to cut at just the right spot so as not to make the video appear jumpy or weird.
Once I had the clips I wanted, I used to add music feature and put in my song. I lowered the volume on it so that it was noticeable but not so loud that it drowned out Ramsay. After all, he’s so great because he isn’t shy about speaking his mind! Once it was done, I exported the final movie, uploaded it to YouTube, and embedded it here!
