This is My Life….

Archives

The goal of this assignment was to take a short video of something I did on a daily basis. Daily life in general can be a little boring. I mean, most exciting things don’t actually happen every day right? But, instead of having you guys watch me brush my teeth or something like that, I decided to show off my walk from the parking lot to my office building every morning. Its quite a doozy! I used Snapchat to record the video because it allows you to use filters and things like to spice it up a bit. I actually couldn’t find anything fun in the filters so I basically just put a time stamp on it to show what time I’m making the walk every day. After I took the video, I uploaded it to my YouTube channel in order to share it on here.

Quite a walk right right? And its uphill from where the sidewalk starts all the way to the building door! It’s not too awful unless its windy or raining but I definitely feel like I’m getting my exercise every day!

What do you do?-Assignment

For this, the clear answer was to run. That’s what I’ve been doing for the past eight years. As a result, the video is a little shaky, but I like giving the viewer a perspective of what I do. I wanted to film while I was running so I was winded and such to add more effect of the activity.

On the Daily…

This assignment had me record a video highlighting one thing I do every day. I chose to film myself checking my email (while making sure no sensitive information was visible). I was going to film it all on my phone, but I realized that I can’t flip from the front to the back camera while I’m recording a video. So, I recorded myself using my webcam on my computer, then recorded my screen with my phone, then put the two together in Windows Movie Maker. Like browsing Tumblr, this is another thing involving the internet I do every day. The internet has become quite a necessity in our daily lives. Email is extremely important. Here’s my video:

What do you do daily?

I chose to complete the video assignment “What do you do?” for 4.5 stars. This was a little over-rated in my opinion because this was simple to create with minimal editing. The only “complicated” part was deciding what to do because there are a ton of things that get done every day. We had to create a short video showing something that we do on a daily. Because my life is relatively non-exciting(work, school, and animals are consuming), I chose to make a video on doing dishes. Why not do some homework AND get house chores done too, right?!

I have a mini-tripod that I used to position my phone next to the sink so that it was stationary and wouldn’t fall into my sink (could you imagine?!) and then pressed record. I wound up recording my whole entire dishwashing “session” because I didn’t want to get my phone wet and wanted quite a bit of time to choose what I thought was the “most interesting” part of the dishwashing experience. (haha.. -__-)

I went into the editing feature on my phone (iPhone 7) and cropped it down to the smallest portion that it would allow (11 seconds) and then saved my clip as a new video. After this, I uploaded it to my youtube app on my phone and attached the link below!

I hope you enjoy me washing my dishes! lol!

I do..what I do

Another great  Video Assignment this comes from the assignment  What Do You Do? this is worth (4 starts). My thinking is that it should be rated about 3 stars but that is just my personal opinion. I guess this is where I tell the story about what I do everyday, I actually think this is what every hopefully dose everyday, they take a shower !!

How did I make the video? well, I used my iphone to video record because it is portable .  I went into my bathroom and the first thing I did was see what 8 sec felt like. So I went into video mode on my phone then the I pressed the record button. I then restaged what I wanted in the video so it would actually look the way I wanted it to. Since I used my phone I was able to access the video through icloud. So I downloaded the video to my computer and I was able to uploaded it to youtube. To uploaded to youtube I had to open youtube in Google. Then I pressed the “upload”  button which is located in the right hand corner. Then I selected the video and dragged it to the open space that read ” Upload video”. I did reset some of the settings as I was saving it like for instance the category in which it was place into  or “What Kind” of video it is.

This is really my most favorite part of the day it either signifies the beginning of the day or a fresh start to a new one. I am so glad that I painted my nails before this one it makes the look like I have really nice feet.

What do we do? We swim!

This week’s video assignment asked: What do you do?  I was tasked with creating an at least 8 second video about something I do on a daily basis.  So, I decided to be a typical Floridian and make a video about going to the pool!

Some of you might be thinking, “Wait, there’s no way she goes to the pool every day.”  And of course, you’d be correct.  This is Florida, after all, and if you’ve ever been here, you know that means it rains A LOT in the summer.  But, the rains usually hold off until the afternoon, and as long as I’m not at a professional development, conference, camp, or some other obligation, you will find me in my pool.  No questions asked.

For this project, I used tools I had readily available without any extra downloads; I used the iMovie app on my iPhone.  This was my first time even opening the app.  I’m so happy that I did finally open it because it’s REALLY COOL.  I didn’t even do anything that fancy, but I felt really good about the steps I took to create my final video.

I first tried to make it into a movie trailer (they have really neat, pre-made templates that your videos can fit into using a storyboard), but I quickly discovered a few things:

  1. Videos need to be filmed horizontally.  Vertical videos can’t be flipped or readjusted, so all of the videos I tried to use were very cut off at the top and bottom (meaning you couldn’t see any heads of people I filmed).
  2. Videos can be slowed down, so there is no need to film in slow-mo.  In the future, I’m going to film in real-time then use the slow-motion feature in iMovie if I decide I want to later.
  3. Movie Trailer templates are very specific, and to make a really great one, you need a lot of different clips (of a variety of lengths).
  4. iCloud storage is a real pain.  This has been added to my list of things to learn more about so that I can stop being annoyed by them.

After simply dragging and dropping the clips I wanted to use, it was very easy to trim the clips and add transitions between them.  iMovie also had some free audio, so I picked a song and added it to the video.  Saving was a breeze, and I loved getting to export right to YouTube.

I’m now wondering if exporting straight from app to app made the video not fit to the full size of the screen, or if it had to do with my videos being filmed vertically, or if it was a setting that I can change for the next movie I export.

Also adding that to the list.

Saddle up!

This week we had to do 10 stars of video assignments with at least 4 being of our character. This assignment called what do you do? instructs you to make a video clip (no longer than 8 seconds) of a specific thing you do on a daily basis. It is worth 4 stars. After like an hour of looking through video assignments, I thought this one I could use my character for. For this I simply used my phone to take the video. I really wish I could go back in time and make a female character so I actually could do other assignments, but I am doing the best with what I have. So since Bob is a rancher, he has to put on his cowboy boots every morning before going out on the ranch. This is just a video of him (me) putting on his cowboy (cowgirl) boots before heading out to the ranch. Sorry it isn’t super creative. I literally could not think of anything else. I am not happy how it turned out. I really would have liked to of done something else.

What do you do? Video Assignment

For this video assignment, “What do you do?” I was to record myself doing something I do every day. As such, I decided to record a video of myself skating. I chose to video myself skating because I really like to skate (well most of the time…) and I spend a lot of my time at a rink. If I am not in class or at home, the rink is the place to find me. I strive to do each of my skating elements about seven times a day. So, below is a video clip of one of my jumping elements that is in my program. To complete this assignment I used my phone to video myself jumping, then I uploaded it to youtube so I could embed it here within this post.
This assignment was worth three stars adding to the fulfillment of this week’s ten star requirement.

DS106 AB: Video Assignment #ILT5340

The video assignment asked me to record something I do everyday.  I am typing on my computer everyday.

What do you do?

For this video assignment you are asked to record a short 8 second minimum of a specific thing you do on an everyday basis. For example, brushing your teeth, walking to class, playing a sport, etc. We want to see one of your daily routines! After the assignment is complete you will need to upload your video footage to either YouTube or Vimeo to create your blog post.
