I saw this option for assignments we could pick and I knew I HAD to do it. This is just some. I am always on TikTok so I always see workout videos like this. However, I never see them using Mini Bands though. So I knew it was my Time to shine.
This certain exercises I got from one of my favorite Orange Theory Coaches for her quarantine edition workout package. They are KILLER. I normally do them a lot with this exact set and reps so it was fun.
Again I used TikTok to make the video. I added the Title describing the workout and what you needed. Then had how long you were doing everything for. They showed all the certain exercises and how to do them.
It is a Mini Band workout.
4 Rounds
20 Reps
5 Different Exercises.
1st Donkey Kicks
2nd Squats
3rd In & Outs
4th Glutei Bridge
5th Glute Bridge In & Outs
I do this a lot and really love feeling the Burn of the Mini Band!
so one of my news resolutions this year was to exercise more! that did not work out (shocking, right?). So as scary and upsetting as this corona situation is, I figured maybe its a good time to start exercising. I knew it was fate when I saw the assignment in the bank, and even more so when I realized this assignment was created by fellow umw ds106-er emily! (in which you should totally check out her post & video, its AMAZING). So, heres my take on an exercise video!
So you may have noticed from the video… i am in now way qualified to be giving exercise advice. I know precious little! I definitely took this a more comedic route, and I think it was my favorite assignment that I created this week (although low key, thats not saying much). I had a lot of fun recording this and coming up with my fake exercises, but I ran into trouble when it came time to add audio to it. I was kind of unsure how to fill the blank time between me being done explaining and the exercise being done viewing, and i ended up just, not doing that. Redo me would love to plan this out better, and would probably include more segments so that I could speed everything up and then have a more appropriate timing for words, and also make it more interesting to watch (although I know a 40 second shot of my staircase is positively THRILLING).
Like I said earlier, i did have a lot of fun doing this one, and i really like the concept i had developed, i just think it could have used better execution. my favorite was walking my dogs and calling them out for being so slow and stopping every 10 seconds, but that bit was harder to record because i was holding two leashes and also my phone camera and it was just kind of a lot. Additionally, I liked my fridge scene and I think I’m hilarious, but the execution wasn’t as good as I would have liked it to be.
Overall, a really fun assignment and certainly would do again, just preferably in a less rushed and generally higher quality manner.
This week for one of my video assignments I decided to create a home work out video to share with you guys. Now I am not a fitness expert at all so I joined my roommate in her everyday routine. These few exercises are what she does to warm up and get her blood flowing. We filmed this in our basement which is our workout space so the lighting is not what I wanted it to be but we fixed it up a little by messing with the filters. This video is only 40 seconds however by the end of doing it your 5th time it will be a nice 5 minute warm up. I edited the video together using a Tik Tok feature that allows you to add text and mark it so it’s only up for a duration of time. Here is the finished product:
For this Video Assignment I was prompted to make a workout video and I thought this would be a good opportunity to put a fun Coronavirus take on the assignment. I love working out so I also used this project to make light of the fact that I miss the gym. I wanted to make a joke about all the workout videos floating around right now that are supposed to be “simple” workouts that use household objects. After filming the “workout” I began editing it to include an introduction and music when I discovered the video editing program had a template titled “The 80’s” so I used that feature to stick with the class them – a nice bonus!!

I saw this assignment in the assignment bank and knew I wanted to try it out. With the gyms being closed we have had to get creative with our workouts. I wanted to get my parents involved and they had fun making it with me. My dad wanted to give my mom and I a workout so it is his voice in the video. My dad recorded us on his phone then I used iMovie to edit the video. I then uploaded it to Youtube. One thing I learned is that I need to workout more because I am out of shape! I made the title “Ingraham CODIV-10 Workout.” Has anyone else made a workout video?!
I laughed at this idea because this is basically my everyday life. In this assignment, you record a workout and share it with the world. This is something I normally do multiple times a week to stay accountable with my Street Parking family. When my brother visits, we make it a point to do a team workout before he leaves. I recommend everyone to have a pair of dumbbells at home. There is SO MUCH you can do with that.
Most of us are stuck at home because of the coronavirus. It’s been advised to not go anywhere and a lot of businesses are taking things into their own hands and closing to help encourage social distancing.
This means that most gyms are closed too. So, what I decided to do this week was make my own video assignment where the purpose is to make a work-out video that other people can follow and do at home.
I have some weights, bars, and a bench at my house, but I wanted to show a routine that I normally do that doesn’t require any weights or special equipment. For me, this is leg day!
I didn’t want this video to be one of those 30 minute videos that you follow along with the instructor. I wanted it to be more of a “this is the routine, this is how you do each of the moves” thing.
What I decided to do was do a regular motion shot of the first few reps and then fast forward through the rest. Almost like a time lapse.
To make the video, I propped up my iPhone and recorded my different parts of the routine. The first 4 were filmed consecutively as well as the last 4, but there is a break in the middle.
I then uploaded the videos to my Video Editor app that comes on my Windows computer. It was relatively easy to use, but I ran into a lot of technical difficulties. My second video would turn black after I edited it and then it wouldn’t play after I edited it again. On top of that, it would not export. I tried so many times. I think I spent 6 hours on this project because it wouldn’t export. I tried a bunch of different programs to remake my video and they didn’t work. I finally got it to export by unclicking the fast export button. How does that make sense?
You can check out all of my frustration on my vlog that I’m going to post for this week.
I spliced the videos into different clips so that I could change the speed or add text. I also used a website that my sister recommended to me for non-copyrighted music, AShamaLuevMusic. I was able to play it over my video.
Since I had to make this assignment myself, I also had to give it a star rating. I really bounced back and forth between 3 and 4 stars, but decided to go with 4 because there is a lot of work that goes into the video.
Make a video that shows us how you workout! You can do an instructional video or a video similar to what you may see from a fitness expert on social media. Be creative!
