5 Second Film

On Shark Tank PeePeePooPoo, an extraordinary product called “Potty Pals” made its debut. The innovative invention was designed to make potty training an adventure for children. With adorable animal-shaped potty seats and interactive games, it transformed a mundane task into a thrilling experience. As the nervous entrepreneur stepped onto the famous Shark Tank stage, the sharks were immediately intrigued by the idea. They couldn’t resist the charm of Potty Pals, and a bidding war erupted among them to secure a deal. In the end, the entrepreneur emerged victorious, with the Sharks excitedly investing in the magical world of PeePeePooPoo. As

ds 106: 5 second film (5 stars)

I’ll preface this assignment by saying that this week was insanely unorganized for me as I started working a second job as well as some family stuff going on, so I’m frustrated to say that this assignment didn’t go as I wanted. I hate to use excuses but my end product is so underwhelming in comparison to what I could’ve done with more time.

I wanted to have a calm scene with some nice backing sound effects as my quick story. A bird flits about looking for its nest as the trees rustle gently in the wind. My original goal was going to have live video instead, but I kept running into issues transferring the videos from my phone to my computer so I ended up switching to drawing instead.

This video was made with a combination of different programs. I used Grafx2 to draw, Beepbox to create the wind and bird sound effects, and lastly Adobe Animate to stitch everything together and adjust the colors and timing. I took an animation course a few years ago and sadly all my knowledge of the program has long left my bones, so I had to struggle with it for a while before finally getting my end result. I can safely say that I’m not pleased with the work I have here and in the future I’ll have my process figured out prior to beginning the task.

5 Seconds of Your Time

More like 8 seconds

Video bank assignments – 4 stars is to create a 5 second video.

I used iMovie to put together a video of a lacrosse game of players coming in and out of the field during a game. I uploaded the video to iMovie, shortened it then added the intro of Top Gun’s theme song for our 80s class theme.

Enjoy!

5 Second Film

Watch this video! Its only 5 seconds of your life wasted! ?

I LIED! IT’S 8 SECONDS! HAHAHA!

Well, now that I have sparked your interest, please watch this video of my dog, Puchi and the extent of her tricks! She knows how to sit, lay down, spin, bark on command, high five, and pray for her food! I did not capture ALL of the listed tricks, but I did include some, such as her cute bark!

I feel like because she doesn’t know so many tricks, this 5-second video helps to sadly resemble how little she knows! LOL! I hope you enjoy the extent of Puchi’s tricks! HAHAHA!

I wasnt able to find an embedable link to my video. But here is a timelapse out of my window at eagle. it was to show off the clouds. But apparently there were firefighters that showed up and stole the show.

Video Joke

This assignment bank assignment was pretty quick and easy. It was actually 4 stars! All we had to do was make a quick 5 second clip and change the story in some sort of way, or make some sort of parody of it. I immediately went to the famous movie Titanic.

There is a HUGE issue related around the issue that Jack should have been able to fit onto the door. I wanted to use that in order to make a joke regarding the situation.

I found the youtube clip of Jack and Rose on the door. Then I downloaded it onto the 4k video downloader. I then looked up on google memes for the Titanic door scene.  Then I opened the iMovie app on my MacBook and spliced the two together. It didn’t take me very long at all to do!

I used youtube.com

And I used google.com

Week 10 Video Assignments

Video Assignments    12 Stars                                           4 Stars

The assignment: You probably have watched at least one arts and crafts video in your life. Now is your chance to make your own! Record yourself making a fun arts and crafts project tutorial.

I did a tutorial on English Paper Piecing, it is my portable hand sewing project. It is easy to carry around with me because I keep it in a pencil box. This is just a small way for me to stay creative and it helps me to relax. Unfortunately , my school work keeps me from sewing as much as I would like to.

#SixSecondArt (Bead Art)                            2 Stars

The assignment:ix word stories, six word quotes, and six word poetry are all the rage. So why not six second art? Using any method of video, stop motion, or other visual medium, produce a six second video of you creating art. It could be digital art, physical art, or performance art, just create a six second video of you making it happen! Vine, Youtube, Vimeo, are all great places to host, although Vine happens to a great natural place for this type of work.

I made a video of my Accuquilt Go. It cuts fabric all the same size, I use the different shapes to create quilts and other various projects. This machine cuts the shapes all the same and makes it easier to piece together. I cute out the apple core shape for a future quilt.

Second Film(Kids Joke)                       4 Stars

The assignment: Make a super short, 5-second film; basically enough time for one gag, bit, or joke. See examples (ALERT: Not G-rated, generally) at http://5secondfilms.com/. Or alternatively, try your hand at creating a 5 second version of a major movie.

I made my 5-second film G-rated because I am going to be a teacher and I don’t want my students to find something on the web that is no appropriate for children. Students these days are into technology and do searches on their teachers to see what they can find. Also, I shot this outside on a nice, fall, breezy day which was appropriate for my silly little joke.

My Favorite Thing To Do (Machine Embroidery)  2 Stars

In this assignment, make a video of yourself doing your favorite hobby for 30 seconds to 1 minutes. Post it to your blog and then describe what you are doing in the video and what makes this hobby your favorite thing to do in your spare time.

My spare time is very limited these days. Every chance I get, you can find me in my sewing room making something with my embroidery machine. This happens to be a key chain with a music note on it. Both of my girls play in the orchestra so music has a special place in our home.

3 Blind Mice — 5 Second Twist

I completed this 4-star assignment and honestly, this was a lot more difficult than I expected.

I think my biggest mistake was choosing this nursery rhyme, but also I felt like a lot of students were going to pick Ring Around the Rosie because of the well-known not-so-well-known truth behind the meaning of it, so I wanted to pick something unique. But it’s also a little challenging when you don’t want to look at the upcoming assignments so you don’t know how this will be against or to your advantage.

Going through the database it was extremely difficult to find an assignment that worked well with this rhyme, and this was the closest I could think of other than maybe literally reenacting the scene.

I used iMovie to create to make the video, and I used Adobe Photoshop to create the images.

Shortest Video Ever…

5 Second Film (4 Stars)

Back when the 6-second video sharing app Vine was around, people would find interesting ways of shrinking content to fit into a very short video. My job for this assignment was to make a 5-second video that includes a gag, bit, or joke. I decided to fit this assignment with my question of the week response from last week, which was to change a nursery rhyme. I went with the “I’m a little teapot” nursery rhyme and I turned the innocent teapot into a dark and mean teapot.

The Process:

In order to create the video, I used the clipchamp video editor. Since the video has to be 5 seconds, I knew I could only include two photos and two audio clips. I decided to show the transition from the original little teapot to the new, meaner teapot for my story.

  1. I started off by finding all the images and audio I wanted to include in the short clip. I first downloaded the little teapot image and his alter ego, the mean teapot. I then went on to upload the images onto clipchamp and shortened the video to five seconds.
  2. Second, I found two pieces of audio that would represent the sounds of each of the images. The first audio piece was from the original little teapot theme song on YouTube. The second audio piece I found was a ‘grr’ sound, also from YouTube, that best defines the sound of the second image.
  3. Third, I uploaded the images and audio pieces onto my project for clipchamp.
  4. Fourth, I went on to use the split tool to take the audio I don’t want in my video and delete it. I did this by clicking at a point on the video layout of where I want to split it, and clicked the scissor icon.
  5. Finally, I exported the project as an MP4 file on to my computer.

Psycho Cheese

Courtesy of the DS106 Assignment Bank, here is the 5-second film (4 stars), Psycho Cheese.

How’d they do it?

After brainstorming some ideas, Cordelia and I settled on parodying the shower scene from Psycho.

As I prepared the cheese tray and Cordy did her makeup, Danielle came home, which was great because I soon realized I needed three hands to hold the knife, hold the camera and tear aside the shower curtain. We enlisted Danielle as the knife-wielding psycho and shot it in four or five takes.

Image result for got that goin for meWe used a real knife, by the way, and they did their own stunts.

Importing the video into VideoPad, I trimmed off the excess beginning and end, parring the thing down to exactly 5 seconds.

I downloaded and imported Bernard Herrman’s “Psycho Theme” from the onlines (or the ‘interwebs’ to be technical), laying the music down on a second audio track. I unlinked the main audio from its video, split it right before Cordy speaks, and cut away the unnecessary beginning sound.

Deciding it needed a title, I used a preset ‘wave’ effect and a text overlay to make the opening credits. I created scrolling end-credits also using a preset from VideoPad.

After watching it a time or two, I extended the music to begin with the opening credits to help set the mood. Of course, that screwed everything up already in the timeline, so I made a few adjustments, added a fade or two, and exported.

Voila!
