I’ve made my way around the web long enough to know what a meme is. As an active Reddit user I have come across many meme’s in my life. Especially one’s involving cats. My love for superheros and comic book characters made me think of a popular meme. It’s Spider Man sitting at a desk.
I’ve actually never made a meme until this one. Peter Parker, known by many as Spider Man, is a smart man. He could fight crime and take this course (probably at the same time). I used makeameme.org to create the meme. I would suggest others to do this assignment as well. The difficulty is worth the 2.5 stars.

At the end of the regular season, Johnny Manziel became the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy, Manning Award, and the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award. I remember watching Manziel play at Texas A&M my freshman and sophomore years at UMW. Ryan Leaf, a former college football star turned NFL bust had something to say about Manziel.
Originally I wanted to make a joke about Matt Damon. Matt Damon has been in many movies where the United States government has had to spend countless money bringing the character back home.
This was an easier assignment. All it needed was text added to the picture. As someone who is not tech savvy this was a breeze. I downloaded the photo of Manziel and then I used MS Paint to add the text.
I took the image, added words and the wings in the background.

This was a fun assignment as I love my pets. I have a few Miniature Pinschers and a Himalayan Persian. Daisy is the youngest of all the dogs. This assignment made me realize that getting Adobe Photoshop will make the visual assignments much easier.
I had to refer to google and several articles on cropping in people (or pets) into photos. Most referred me to Photoshop which I don’t own (yet). After trying several free online sites that allow you to edit photos I realized they wouldn’t work. Eventually I tried Microsoft Paint which came with my Windows 10 operating system. I was able to put Daisy into the photo in front of Monroe Hall, but I couldn’t do anything but a square crop. I was hoping Paint would let me ‘free-crop’. What I mean is I wanted the crop to be around just her and not a square.
Background With the creation of the internet it has become much easier to learn about and see places you may not have seen otherwise. Here is an old photo of me, I look like such a doofus with my egg nog.
I have an obsession with Wawa egg nog so I am assuming my happiness in this photo was caused by the egg nog in my hand. My mom used to be scared of my egg nog addiction, she would treat it like I was doing hardcore drugs. She would try to get my brothers to convince me to stop drinking egg nog so much. Unfortunately none of that worked, because I still drink Wawa egg nog to this day. Though it is a seasonal drink so I always have to wait until Winter, and please do not tell me to go get egg nog somewhere else. It is not the same, trust me. I look really stupid in this picture so I enjoyed making fun of myself. I hope you find this kinda funny.
To add the text and the speech bubble on the photo, I used an online photo editor called LunaPic. I don’t have photoshop or any other fancy photo editing software right now so I have to resort to the ghetto option.
The first thing I did was load my image into the editor by selecting the Browse option on the photo banner with the blonde hair woman (or man, who knows).
The photo I selected then showed up in the editor. I went to the Draw menu and selected Speech Bubble. This opened a menu to select what style of speech bubble I wanted.
After selected the bubble I wanted, I place it in the proper position and resized it using the small yellow squared on the corners.
The going back to the Draw menu, I select the Text Tool option to add the text inside the speech bubble. This opened a menu at the top of your photo seen to the right of the photo below. From here I was able to edit the text as I needed.
After adding the text and moving it to the proper position. I go under File and select Save Image to save it to my computer.

The Photo Safari Assignment was very interesting to me because it was not something I would ever think to do or come up with as an assignment. I chose to do my Photo Safari in the University Center because I thought it would have the most opportunities for me to find things to photograph because it is so large with so many nooks and cranies. I did a majority of my photography in the Student Activities Office where I was working for the day, which was quite entertaining when the SAE Director came out of his office to see what I was doing.
The experience was fun, but I thought I looked like a mad woman considering I was in such a public space running around taking pictures of very random objects. I’m a very competitive person so I did a lot of the easier pictures on the list in order to maximize the number of pictures I could get in my 15 minutes.
I think the one that speaks the most to me as inventive was my photo that represented joy. It was a photograph of someone clocking out of work from MyTime and while the photograph may not be the best quality it definitely represents joy in my mind.
My favorite photograph that I took of the bunch was of the Chandler Ballroom floor to show a repeating pattern. I like the colors in the photograph (though I hate that carpet) and the angle at which I took the photo. I think if I had taken the photographs for this assignment later in the week they would have been more visually pleasing photos.
