My Storytelling Collage

Well what’s more fun than making a collage based on a series of events in my life? I figured that the easiest story to follow would be this one, heading off to college!

In the first photo, you see my acceptance letter, YAY UMW! Next, there’s me with my diploma at my high school graduation! I’m a Midlothian High School alum! Next, you see my mom’s car all packed up with my various things for school. Such a typical moving in to college pic! And lastly, there’s me sitting on my bed in my freshman dorm! I lived in Jefferson hall (boo no a/c)

The making of this assignment was really no different than many others. I simply went to www.befunky.com and made a collage of some photos that I chose!

My Spring Break Story Collage

Spring Break 2015

Over the course of spring break my two best friends from college who are now my roommates thought it would be fun to go to Orlando and go to Universal Studios and Sea World. We drove with my friends parents and stopped at “South of the Border” which is in South Carolina. This place was super cheesy and made no sense since it was Mexican theme in the middle of Carolina but it was fun and was worth a funny photo. It took us about 16 hours to get there. We had to go to a bunch of Walmart’s and Radio Shacks because of all of our electronics. We were going mad by the end of the drive because we just wanted to get to the Resort. By the time we got there we had little to no sleep and ended up having to get up super early to get to the park on time. We were so excited when we first got there to go on all of those rides. The highlight of the day was going to take a picture with spiderman. The next day after we had done two parks in one day we went to Sea World. That was such a hot day and we were waiting all day for one exhibit and that was to see the penguins. That was the last thing that we did and it was so worth it even though it was 30 degrees in the building. I loved this trip not only because it was warm weather after a harsh weather up here but the fact I got to spend it with my two best friends.

This was a Visual Assignment and was worth 3 stars!

Storytelling Collague

My wife and I were happily married in August of 2007.  The story is of our wedding and honeymoon.

Well, I suppose our trip was a success. As I mentioned before, Bev mysteriously left earlier than I expected, so I was left alone to explore a little bit more on my own. Bev, as is her way it seems, left very specific travel plans that I could follow should I choose – as well as a very large amount of cash with no explanation as to where it came from.

I’ve really enjoyed just seeing all the different parts of this city. There’s so much here and around every corner it’s something different. Looking at our pictures, I can definitely see that mine and Bev’s experiences were pretty different, but I enjoyed my time nonetheless.

This assignment was a really great final way to tell the story of our characters’ little vacation (if you can call it that). Mariah and I decided to do the same assignment but use completely different pictures/aesthetic to show how different the single trip was from two different perspectives.

The process with this was pretty simple: find the pictures, stitch together using a generic iPhone app that allows for that, and then uploading. For our collaborative assignments we tried to stay simple so that we could spend most of our time stretching our creativity and finding ways to make a really detailed and extensive story. I think that ended up being pretty successful.

Storytelling Collage

For this assignment we had to make a collage that tells a story. To make this collage I used the app “PhotoFrame,” to combine all four photos. This collage tells the story of a typical day in the life of Scott Brinkmann. He starts his day off by arriving at his hotel about 30 minutes before it opens. He then checks the guest book to see who will be checking in and out during that day. About half way through the day he heads down the street to his favorite deli where he gets a sandwich almost every day. For the remainder of the day he checks guests in and out and helps them with whatever they might need.

We are back from Bali – and have pictures!

image-1

Bev here – Damon and I got back from our trip to Bali and it was wonderful. We did a lot of things. As you will see on Damon’s post, we really had different perspectives for what we wanted to do in Bali. Yes, I wanted to see everything, but I also wanted to catch up on some much needed sleep. Anyways, as you can see. We had some fun, but I ended up having to leave early and go back home to take care of some things. Overall, I really loved the trip and I think it was a good time for Damon and I to become friends like I knew we always would.

This assignment was worth 3 stars.  It was fairly easy. Jonathan and I talked out where we wanted to go and then made each of our post together. They are a little different but tell the same story in some way specific to our characters. We found pictures of Bali and then send them to our iPhones. From there, we used an App called Instasize to put them in collages. We saved them and then sent them back to ourselves. Overall, I thought this project was pretty easy and I think it would be a good way to keep updating our characters in a way that is not just about words!

Noir Character Story Collage

Here is the digital storytelling collage assignment that is three points. I wanted to do a story assignment with pictures for my character Lukas Jones. I went through the character travel to the past and the characters he meets.
