What Does Juvenile Sentient Alien Vegetation Like for Dessert?

Visual Assignment #1

Ok, ok, ok, I know it sounds crazy, but Baby Groot was in my room! Look, that’s totally him! (my photo is on the right, reference on the left) And it makes sense right? It’s snowing outside right now so he probably came in to get out of the cold. He ran off after I took the picture, but I’m gonna try to lure him out with some pant food as soon as I can google what juvenile sentient alien vegetation likes for dessert. Maybe Oreos?

Visual Assignment: It’s A Bird, It’s A Plane

“Have you ever seen that picture that *might* be the loch ness monster, but it’s probably just a floating log? Well, now it’s your turn to perpetuate a myth – the myth of superheroes. Go out and take a picture of something that you know isn’t a superhero, but could be. Is that Superman, or just a bird? Is that Antman, or do you need to do a better job cleaning the kitchen? Who’s to say?”

Just to forward, this whole thing is very very silly. It doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things, but I like it. I like the idea that a little alien tree found its way into a UMW dorm room and is avoiding the resident who is trying to befriend him with human cookies. I think it’s rather cute. It could be the beginning of a great comedy about two very different people (and tree) becoming best friends getting into all sorts of trouble. Just imagine when the student goes to school and Baby Groot tries to tag along. No one can see him, he’s an alien! If the government found out, he’d get taken away and experimented on! The student must distract the class while Baby Groot dances on the window sill, has to smuggle him into the UC to get food, the possibilities are endless! So I think it’s kind of a funny story. It makes me smile and that’s all I will ask it to do.

Now, making this little story was rather easy. After finding the assignment, I started daydreaming about what superhero I could do. I thought about trying to catch a photo of Jack Frost because it was snowing outside, but when I started thinking about the plants in my room and what superhero they could be, I had it. Once Baby Groot was a possibility, I was not going back. I used the camera on my phone to take the picture. Believe it or not, it took a minute for me to take an appropriately shaky picture. My first few tries were way too static and clean-looking. This was going to be best if the alleged sighting of Baby Groot was suspect at best. Imperfection really is an art. I couldn’t figure out how to make the two photos appear side by side on the blog page, so I just took a screenshot of them in a google doc and used that. If the wall is too high, dig underneath it.

You know me, chief investor of shovels,

It’s A Bird, It’s A Plane

(2.5 stars)

It’s………Wonder Woman!!!! I can not believe I saw her in the library!

It’s a bird, it’s a plane

As I walked into my house, I noticed something different. Something didn’t feel right. I took out my phone, ready to call someone. I walked over to the light and turned it on. Right there in front of me was a random person sitting on my couch! I was already on my phone, so I flipped it to camera and was able to snap this photo before the person ran away. Or is it a person?

Is that Thor?

After a long journey traveling the universe, Thor stopped by my place. We are good friends so I wasn’t too surprised. I figured that he had more important things to take care of than see me. I felt quite honored.

WHERE IS SHE!?!? Pt. II

For those of you who noticed the title of part one was actually a batman quote, to go along with the quote based assignment, you win. Your prize is one big lump of pride, kudos. Since we are on the topic of Batman again, lets roll into our next visual assignment. For this one the goal is to take a photo of something that isn’t a superhero, but maybe could be. Like finding bigfoot style, or the loch ness monster. I was stumped for quite a while on what to do for this one since my initial idea of the flash running by was already being used as the example photo to explain the idea. After some brainstorming I made my way back to Batman.

Who’s to say what Batman looks like under his mask. Certainly you aren’t him, but why not me. To pull the old dumb joke out, you’ve never seen me and Batman in the same room before, have you? And I know what you are thinking, what is with the face. Well, sorry I was born that way. Just kidding, that is my best Batman scowl to scare the bad guys. For all anyone knows, this is the only photo of Batman sans mask.

Wait… was that who i thought it was?

I did two for this cause I thought it was super fun and funny to do. WAIT is that the flash??? Wait is that Spiderman??

not a drill: black panther sighting!!!

Okay, so I know this may seem unrecognizable, but check out this picture I got on Snapchat on my way home:

it’s blurry, but totally him, right?

So, I’m on my way home when I see him and I KNOW it’s Black Panther – he’s strong, and sleek and he’s gone before I can get anything more than this image. I downloaded the image off Snapchat and uploaded it here for everyone to see.

What’s your last superhero/supernatural sighting??

Yo Momma WHAT?

Stars: 2

Remix: 2 1/2

For the original assignment you’re supposed to take a picture of an object and make it basically unrecognizable. I had already done this assignment, so both of my remixes are from assignments already completed! Now, the remix made it quite impossible to relate it back to my secret agent, which is what I was hoping to do. I had another assignment chosen, and was going to use my secret agent in that one, but I was more interested in this assignment.

The remix called for yo momma jokes. So I took this literally and took and unrecognizable photo OF yo momma jokes. Then I sent it to my laptop and saved it and posted it in here!

Quick, fun, and easy assignment. It’s always fun to recreate past assignments, while giving them a little twist to keep them original.

It’s A Bird, It’s A Plane

In order to create the images, I went straight to snapchat! There is a filter that slightly distorts images and also immediately makes the coloring black and white. I thought that this could give me the best chance creating an image that was seemingly ominous or maybe included something you couldn’t quite distinguish. I feel like that was the overall goal of this assignment, so that’s the direction I went in.

Both images were taken in my bedroom. I wanted to include them both because I think they both offer something different. I kept the camera moving in both images. I’m really intrigued as to what some of my classmates “see” in the images.

The first image, to me, is completely unidentifiable. I’m not sure what the camera was focusing on, but I’m assuming most of the black blob is actually a fan in my room! The second image has my dresser, plants, and window. I wanted to include the second image mostly because of the brighter white cloud in the bottom left corner. I have no idea where that “light” or “brightness” is coming from but definitely gave the image a cool effect.

Directions: Have you ever seen that picture that *might* be the loch ness monster, but it’s probably just a floating log? Well now it’s your turn to perpetuate a myth – the myth of superheroes. Go out and take a picture of something that you know isn’t a superhero, but could be. Is that Superman, or just a bird? Is that Antman, or do I you need to do abetter job cleaning the kitchen? Who’s to say?

It’s A Bird, It’s A Plane, It’s Keamo…?

Usually a secret agent is low key but as you can see, I got caught up with someone taking a picture of me. A young Keamo was discovered in a hoodie and a hand covering my face so I couldn’t be fully detected. Now my job is to find out who took this picture and to destroy them in the name of justice.
