The World Through Nature’s Eye

This picture was taken by me when I went with my family to Joshua Tree National Park in California. I had climbed to the top of a mound of rocks and was getting my first experience with a tripod.

I love this photo more than any other landscape shot I’ve taken because, in my mind, the clouds were shaped like a map of the continents, speaking to me through my camera, telling me to reach out & travel the world.

Best Picture!

This picture is one of my favorite ones I’ve taken. This is my service dog in training, Rilee. The picture was taken on her first birthday. I love it so much because it represents how crazy it is to attempt to train a dog for service work. That’s her most of the time when I am trying to be all business.

Clearly she didn’t want to be!

Star Your Engines – part 1

Hello, everyone! The first prompt I completed for the Visual Assignment was the Favorite Photo prompt. I thought for a little bit about which photo I would use for this particular prompt–I do really like the photos of the pink flowers on the Fredericksburg Campus I took, this past spring (I’m not actually sure what those particular flowers are); I’m also really fond of a photo I took of a four-leaf clover I found, last summer. In the end, I decided to go with one of the photos I took during my trip to London, a few years ago, and then I finally chose this one as my number-one favorite:

Instagram Photo

This photo was taken from St. James Park, which was next to where my mother and I were staying, about an hour after we had gone up into the London Eye, which can be seen in this photo (I was also sure to take a selfie while I was in there, and I thought about using that photo for this prompt); I believe I was walking on a bridge when I saw a good photo-op and decided to take it. From what I can remember when I took this photo, I didn’t really think about the photography tips and tricks brought up in this class, such as balance or depth or contrast, but, with the way the light is reflected by the buildings and the London Eye, this photo is somewhat divided into the darker bottom-half and the lighter top-half, which I think is really interesting and satisfying.

My Most Favorite Picture Ever!

I have spend my entire life at the end of this street. This little street with a canopy of trees is always what I recognize as home. While I was walking my dog around sunset I looked up and noticed that the sun had fallen perfectly between the little circle that is naturally in the trees. I pulled out my phone and snapped this picture for my Snapchat followers, I’m @annatanningbed incase you wanted to know. This picture has no editing at all. No filters, no lighting changes, it was just a point and snap picture. I love the way that the sun hits the dirt on the side of the road. It almost makes dirt look pretty. I also love the fact that you can almost see the beams of light coming out of the little circle. I think this photo has depth and balance. It has unique shadows and such a peaceful lighting. My heart literally feels warm when I look at this picture. I hope you enjoy this photo as much as I do.

Storytelling with Photos

Photography and Narratives:
Pictures are a great way to help tell a story through imagery and scenery that portray emotions or events.  I am excited to get into the photography portion of our course and start adding characters and conflicts to the journey through my pictures.

Visual Assignments:

I chose this assignment because I thought it would be really cool to compare what I look like before and after the apocalypse to help tell my story a little more.  Here is the product using Juxtapose:

Your Favorite Photo?

This is my absolute favorite photo I have taken!  I love the lighting and the expression I caught in this moment on my horses face.  It is so hard to capture special moments like this and I love the way he looks in this moment! I think it helps to tell a visual story of a sunny happy day and a calm, loving animal.

My Favorite Photo

My favorite photo is one of the first photos I ever took of my little girl. This photo was taken only a few hours after she was born! I used this photo to introduce her to everyone on social media. I remember the day like it was yesterday. I was laying in the hospital bed with her in my arms when I snapped this photo. She was resting so peacefully, cuddled up close to me. This photo will always mean everything to me because it represents the day I became a mother, the day I was no longer just Taylor but Mommy too. This photo represents the best day of my life and I will forever love it!

My Family makes for my favorite photo.

I chose this 2 star visual assignment to share my favorite photo. The photo below is by far my favorite photo.  This is a photo of myself and my family.

Assignment: Storytelling with Photos

I chose this 2 star visual assignment to share my favorite photo. The photo below is by far my favorite photo.  This is a photo of myself and my family.  My son at the front of the picture is quite the little ham and a camera hog if you can’t tell.  My daughter is upset because my son had the last piece of candy.  The candy was used to try and keep them interested in taking the family photos.  Are we bad parents for using bribes to get our kids to stay focused?? I think not you try to wrangle a 2 year old and 5 year old and let me know how that goes.  This was the first time since my son was born that we were able to get family pictures.  So it was good to finally capture our family as we all know kids grow to fast.  So out of all the pictures we have in our house, this one is my most cherished, favorite photo.
