Save Me From Myself

Me attacking another me

If I ever met myself, I can’t imagine we’d get along terribly well. And I imagine we’d be laughing the whole time.

This panorama was a bit difficult because it kept clipping when I jumped on or off the chair. I tried it a few different ways and this was the best result. With some slight blurring and if you ignore the curved floor, one can almost imagine the epic showdown. Earth 3000 me has finally caught up with Earth 42 me after years of hunting. How will it end?!

Be your own bestie

This assignment was harder than it looked. In my head I was like oh this will surely be easy. I was dead wrong lol. I was either moving too fast or not fast enough so they phone cut off my photo and I was left will a partial panorama. It took a solid chunk of time before I was able to capture this beauty. I used my phone camera and chose the panorama option and got to work.

The story behind this photo is that were arguing. Clearly something happened to Ron the cow because he was smushed. One version of me makes it known that the cow is not the favorite squishmallow and that the turkey is the best. So when the other version of me came back to the apartment to find Ron smushed, I knew we had to have a chat. The chat was not meant to turn into an argument but it escalated quick and soon I was pointing figures accusing me of smushing Ron the cow.

I enjoyed this assignment altogether and creating this photo! I have a couple super hilarious outtakes as well.

This was a fun little diversion!

I had a good chuckle reading the description for this assignment! Editing software is a little frustrating, but I know that it is part of the process of learning!
For this assignment, I was told not to use editing software and to take a panoramic picture instead with a cell phone. I luckily had a friend at school today willing to help me out! So we went to the UC!
The provided guide was helpful, but unfortunately, it was for an iPhone. As it turned out, my friend has one, so he saved me twice today!

I am always amazed at how technology has improved. I remember when smartphones were first coming out and never thought that cameras would become so advanced!
Android phones do have panoramic mode, so I will have to see if it works similarly in the future. Please ignore the last bit of the photo, as there was a glitch in the Matrix.

Thanks, Elizabeth, for writing this assignment!

3 Times the Fun

My final assignment for the week is the Be Your Own Best Friend Visual Assignment. This was a really fun assignment and I’m surprised more people haven’t done it yet.

Here is my final product for this assignment!

I had a lot of fun working on this. I used my phone to take a panoramic picture, with my roommate’s help, and I got in the picture 3 times. I had to practically crawl on the floor in order to do this successfully. I had to wait until the camera was fully away from me before I moved, but once I moved I had to be fast, so it was a really funny process to do (and I’m sure watch). As you can see below, failure to wait long enough resulted in some funny pictures that can serve as their own type of art.

I think it is cool that I was able to do this sort of illusion without using any sort of editing apps. I can definitely see some distortion in these pictures, but it is a cool little trick to be able to make realistic photos with multiple images of myself.

The only frustrating part of this assignment was that WordPress wouldn’t let me upload an HEIC file, which is the file my panoramic picture turned out to be, so I had to export it into a PNG, but in the end it really wasn’t a big deal.

one of me just isn’t enough

yall. i made my own assignment.

My assignment? A three star, visual assignment that utilizes only a smartphone and ZERO editing software because I don’t like editing photos. So y’all have probably seen this around, but with the iphone (and probs other smartphone) cameras, you can take panoramas, right? and if you play your cards right, you can insert yourself into the photo MULTIPLE TIMES. So thats my submitted assignment. Take a panorama photo and with yourself (or a friend) in it at least twice, but the more the merrier!

I decided to give my assignment 3 stars because it took me a HOT minute to figure it out and even once I knew how to do it technically, getting the shot right was Difficult.

So, like I said, it took me a HOT minute to figure out how to actually do this, so the first 7 or so photos I took look a little something like this:

or this:

or, my personal favorite, this:

But, after a creative rest and some research (check out this website for some Good Instructions), I finally got the hang of it and came out with some Really Good photos. The one that shows the most technical skill is probably this boy,

But this, one, even though its not as impressive technically has an element of storytelling to it!

And one more, because its Good Quality and I can insert a meaning into it!

This photo symbolizes the dichotomy of humankind, a dichotomy found even within individual persons (as showcased!) (I’m mostly joking).

So how did I do it? WELL. First, you get inspired by some insta post about this very subject and try figure it out without research and end up with a bunch of photos like the first three. Then you cave and do actual research. So the real process is to start you panorama at point A, then have the photographer pan until the subject is out of frame. Then, the subject run around the photographer (so as not to be in the frame) and stands Very Still right before the photographer pans to point B. Alternatively the subject of the photo can just kind of. Run to the next point without avoiding the photographer and sometimes it still works out fine! For this assignment, it’s really a practice makes perfect scenario, so don’t get discouraged and try out different techniques and strategies!

This was SO COOL and such a Brilliant Assignment (which I am saying from a completely unbiased and objective place). In all sincerity, however, I did have a really good time with this assignment; messing around with stories and techniques to make the panos look good and losing my absolute mind over the ones that didn’t turn out as good was just SUCH a good time. I definitely struggled before I knew how to do it, but that just shows the power of research! . Overall i’m stupid proud of all of my panos, even and low key especially, the ones that aren’t technically perfect. in conclusion. yall pls do my assignment im so proud of myself and it really is a fun one!

be good to yourself, -liz

be your own best friend!

For this assignment, you are hereby FORBID from using editing software because I make the rules and i don’t like editing software. :). So what you’re gonna do is, using a smartphone (or normal camera I suppose), take a panorama photo, except moving whenever you get out of frame in order to make it look like you’re in the same photo at least twice, but you get more points the more you can fit yourself in. Confused? Check out this link for better instructions! Make it interesting! are you and yourself friends? enemies? indifferent? Tell a story with a single panorama. And remember, No Editing! Check out my flickr for more examples! Best of luck mes amis!
