Picasso Myself! **

While browsing through the ds106 Assignment Bank, I found a 2 star rated Visual Assignment called Picasso Yourself.  It called to create a Picasso-esque portrait of my own face!

I didn’t know how to start this one, so I looked through any tutorials on the assignment, but they weren’t very helpful, because I didn’t want to use a webcam to edit my face.  Instead, I googled how to warp photos and found Morpheus Photo Warper.

After downloading and opening this program, I opened a new layout and chose the photo I wanted to warp:

Once my photo was loaded, I added dots all over my face, so that I could manipulate those areas of my face.  From here on, I just played with what my face would look like if I moved a certain dot.  The program showed two photos, one original and one edited, so that I could see what I was doing:

Finally, I saved the photo and uploaded it to Flickr.  Et voilà!

Alien!

I was watching the movie Alien (science fiction horror movie), and fell asleep during the movie. I had an unusual dream where I became the creature in the spacecraft. This image closely resembles the one from my dream. I used the “dent” effect on mac photo booth, then made some adjustments using photo editing.

Is that my face?

My favorite assignment so far.. Picasso Yourself!  For this assignment I used my super silly boyfriend and the ever-so-amazing Macbook Photobooth.

With this assignment came a lot of laughter! There are sooo many effects that you can make using photobooth (which comes as an app for any Mac computer owner).

I used “Strech” effect to make my face, and my boyfriends face all distorted.  We laugh for a good 5 minutes after every picture we took.  I felt that this effect was as close as I could get to Picasso’s Cubism.  Cubism basically involved distortion of images, in particular faces and I present that in my photograph.

The beauty about photobooth and my MacBook is that the camera on my laptop is of a pretty good quality and photobooth takes amazing pictures so not much editing had to be done on the photo.  I did have to crop the picture and I just did an auto enhancer and ta-da!  It came out to look super silly all on its own.  Gotta love art!

Picasso-ing Myself

Trying to make this Picasso-like self-portrait was a tad difficult. But I was able to figure it out. I had a picture of myself that my sister had taken of me that I liked and then I uploaded it onto my computer. I used paint to crop down my photo and then I used GIMP2 for the rest of the editing. I copied parts of my face onto a different part of my face and then used the blurring tool to blur the image. I also used the distort tool because I found that it made my picture more abstract.
