The next assignment for my final story is the Google Map Trip (2 stars). I don’t want to give to much away. But Kate and William do go to Nepal in the story. I’m not giving specifics. But just know that there is some drama and secrecy that cause the trip to occur and they booked their royal private jet for one way…

To create this map, I just went to google and started typing in places. I figured I’d through in a few extra stops in between, they might need fuel. Since this is a fake story, I am getting a bit creative with this part. I am sure that in reality something like this would never happen, but that’s the joy of being able to play with the truth in DS106. Also I think pregnant women aren’t allowed to fly after a certain point, but once again I am just rolling with it. I will tell you that Kate will be 6 months pregnant at this point in the story.

The Royal Baby Stroller

There’s no doubt that the Royal family needs to start prepping for their newest mini-Royal due in July. One necessary purchase will be a stroller. While the Royals are wealth beyond compare, it is no shock that they are also very practical people. Kate, herself, wears her outfits more than once and mixes “regular” priced items with more expensive items into her daily wardrobe.

So it’s really no shock that they would consider practical and functional items for their child. I’m here again with another Storytelling within the web assignment. This time I’m bringing to you the Royal Stroller.

In doing some research it seems that Kate might consider this stroller by Mammas and Papas, a British based store. While the price may still cause sticker shock to many, it is a practical, lightweight stroller that is perfect of a busy Royal mom on the go!

What Kate’s been Pinning

The Second component for my Final Project was to complete the 5 star assignment of Storytelling within the Web. You will see this assignment in another post as well because I am using it twice!

For this assignment though I wanted to make Kate’s Royal Baby Pinterest board. I went to Pinterest and typed in “baby boards” and got a lot of options. Then I tried “Royal Baby Boards” and I was shocked as to how many came up. It was sorta alarming, there were tons of boards about baby bump watches for Kate, kinda creepy if you ask me. Finally I settled on this one. There were a fair amount of pins and covered different baby items.

I used the X-Ray Goggles to change all the pin labels. Overall it was an easy process. Obviously I’ve never talked to Kate, so I really have no idea what sorts of words she uses. But she appears very classy and elegant, so I used words like “adorable” ”perfection” and “lovely” to describe things, I feel like she’d use those words a fair amount.

An option on George’s dating site is a personality quiz. I used the web assignment Pop Quiz to create similarity quiz, via PollSnack.

I made the result options as: You and George are perfect for each other! or You and George were not meant to be.

I created 5 questions based around things George would think about:

He loves bananas
He likes the color yellow
He uses balloons to fly around the city
He loves to learn about new things
He speaks monkey

Once I made all the questions and answers, the quiz was generated for me. Are you similar to George?

George’s Dating Profile

George’s new dating adventure began by creating his online profile. I used the web assignment, Storytelling within the Web, to edit an existing dating profile.

I tried to edit Match profiles for about an hour, but they wouldn’t let me see anyone’s profile without signing up. When I tried to do that, the process was WAY too long, and at the end, they wanted me to subscribe. Instead, I used OkCupid, because it’s a free dating site. I used someone else’s profile to start my editing.

I chose to use Mozilla Hackasaurus’s X-Ray Googles, because I remembered how easy it was to use the earlier this semester. I started with all of George’s info: movies, height, education, what he’s looking for, etc. Then I gave him a profile picture. When I was done, the site freaked out and I lost everything. It took me three tries to finish the editing process, but in the end, it finally worked!

I Much Prefer Twitter to Facebook, Except in This Case

I am almost always on Twitter, it’s actually unhealthy. However, when it comes to creating social media for famous or fictional characters, the Twitter tool is very lacking since it only allows one tweet at a time (I mean I tweet one time per 30 minutes). The facebook tool, while outdated still has some great features and can do a really good job of telling a story.

For the facebook that I made for Prince Eric I decided to focus on setting the mood for the story that I want to tell. As you can see, he takes his trip in which he has a great night and can’t stop singing (I mean he did meet Ariel after all). They then become friends on Facebook and you can see the rest from there. The thing that I really liked about this was the timeline that you can use. Having a timeline in a story is so critical to help people have an idea for what exactly is going on.

There really isn’t much more to say about this, I used the classroom tool of Fakebook in order to create the page. Some of Eric’s friends on the side are Ariel’s sisters and workers in the palace, all of whom are featured in the movie.

I Wish I was 5’5? Tall

I am six feet tall, and don’t get me wrong I love it. However, the princesses at Disney World have a height maximum, and being 6 feet tall means that I am way over the max. The day I found that out my heart shattered. I was so upset. However, that is besides the point. The reason for me divulging my heartbreak to you guys is because of the storytelling within the web assignment that I created for my final project (full story behind it to come soon). The topic of my project revolves around the idea of how Ariel’s (from The Little Mermaid) story line would change if technology was a factor.

Well Ariel gets herself into a lot of trouble by Ursula, the villain of the movie because Ursula offers to give her legs. Well if Ariel had internet she surely could have just simply sent out a Craig’s List want ad for legs! This way, she never would have given her voice to Ursula and the story could go a whole lot differently. You will find out how exactly soon. (clicking the link will take you the website I designed)

I used the X-ray goggles tool in order to hack into the Craig’s list ad, where I could change the location, and the text of the want ad. I decided to include some lyrics from “Part of your World” to make things more related to the film. I decided to add in the 5’5″ in there as well in order to be as legitimate as possible.

Would you respond to something like this? I hope not!

For my fourth assignment for my final project I did storytelling within the web. This assignment is to take a website and edit it completely so that it tells a totally different story than it once did.

I’m going to warn you now IF YOU WANT TO BE SURPRISED BY MY FINAL PROJECT STORY YOU SHOULD STOP READING NOW! So far none of my assignments have given too much away but this one will!! Turn back now if you don’t want to be surprised!

So to do this assignment I first had to decide which website I wanted to modify. I decided to use Taylor’s official fan form. I really wanted to get Taylor’s fans reaction to the situation that I have created (which I still don’t want to spoil for you). To do this assignment I used Hackasaurus. This is an awesome program where once you install it, all you have to do is point and click at the website you want to edit. It’s seriously that easy! The hard part was actually editing the website. Coming up with ideas was much harder than I thought. For the first six or seven I was rolling but when I got to like fifteen I was having a hard time.

After some creative ideas and a lot of editing here is what I came up with…

Where is the World is Taylor?

For my third assignment for my final project (look at me go!) I did google map trip. This assignment is to use Google Maps to tell a story! It can be the story of a trip you took, a trip you would like to take, a strange occurrence, a war, anything you like!

Since my whole project is on Taylor Swift I had to decided what I wanted to map out related to her. After thinking for a few minutes I decided to map out her current tour. I personally went to her tour a about a month ago and it was freaking awesome. Here is a video of the opening of her tour at my concert (not my video, sadly my seats were not this good).

So what I decided to do was to pull up her tour dates. Luckily I was able to easily find these dates on her website. I was planning on putting all these dates on one google map but her tour was too long to fit onto one. For this tour she is out across the United States and Canada for nine months! (and she is about to release worldwide tour dates).

To make my map I used google maps. All I had to do was transfer each city from her website into the next destination slot. This would have been a relatively easy process if she wasn’t going to forty-seven different cities.

Here are my final maps that I made. Please note that there are too because there were so many different cities that google maps made me start a new one half way though.
