Buzzfeed ds106 character quiz 2.0

For this assignment, I went back to the which ds106 character are you quiz I made for buzzfeed a few weeks ago and incorporated vastly more characters and questions. I created a spread sheet with all the characters, their descriptions for the outcomes, and their answers to the various questions. I hit a hiccup when buzzfeed told me that I can only add one person to each answer so they all have to be unique. I still have a few that have variants of the same answer because I designed the quiz without that in mind. I tried to include all the ds 106 characters, but there were a few that didn’t make the cut. The primary reason was that there was too little info in that persons description for me to not have to totally invent their character for the quiz ( I tried to stay to what the creators would have wanted from their characters), or the character was so unique that it would have vastly different and obvious answers. I have one character that meets that criteria because it is humorous, and I did not want to detract from that.  I tried to add a few imaged to the quiz this time to spice it up as well, I think I will keep revising it over the next few days to get it more to my liking.

Here is the final version which I have yet to figure out how to embed.

Personality Quiz

For this assignment, I had to create a Buzzfeed Personality Quiz of anything I wanted with at least 3 results with descriptions and 6 different questions. This sounded like a fun and interesting assignment that I felt that I could accomplish, so I started creating my own Personality Quiz on Buzzfeed.

I just needed to figure out what the results would end up being after the end of the Personality Quiz. I tried to think of memorable video game characters with different personalities, but the only the characters that I could think of were in games that were too mature for a personality quiz to have. That’s when I thought of my favorite video game characters that were cartoons of Ratchet and Clank.

Ratchet and Clank Movie Poster

Ratchet and Clank was one of the first video games that I ever owned where it combined artistic humor through animated characters that you could play as in a video game that could be played as a kid or as an adult. In fact, I just ordered the PS4 remake from Amazon a couple of days ago and there is an animated movie about to be released into theaters.

The different personalities types that I decided to use for results were the main character of Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark, and the villain of Dr. Nefarious. Ratchet is always the brave character that will do what he thinks is right for saving his planet and fighting anything in his way to help anyone that needs help. Ratchet is also a hard-working engineer that is the muscle of knowing how to fight the villains and always uses an aggressive approach to situations. While Clank is the brains that thinks of smart tactics and is filled with information as the sidekick to Ratchet; but he mostly always goes by with a conservative approach. Then there is Captain Qwark who always gets the credit for every good deed that Ratchet does, but is actually clumsy and a goof-ball that will cower in the face of adversity. He is the all talk and no action type of person. Then lastly there is the villain of Dr. Nefarious who constantly thinks of creative ways to try to get rid of Ratchet, Clank, and Qwark as they pursue him. Even though Dr. Nefarious is hilarious in the way that he thinks, he is still pure evil.

After I had identified the personality results, the assignment became easy because I just had to come up with vague questions dealing with different personality types like genres about music, favorite sports, movies, hobbies, how they deal with adversity/rivals, and how a person would describe themselves. Then after I had come up with all the questions I identified which answer choices would match each character and added an appropriate image for each question.

To conclude, I had a really fun time creating a Personality Quiz using one of my favorite games of Ratchet and Clank as a theme. After doing this assignment, I feel like a kid again because I’m about to play some Ratchet and Clank in a few days when I receive my order from Amazon.

Which Chrisley are you?

For this assignment (4.5 stars), we got to create our own Buzzfeed Quiz! I chose to do this assignment over others because I am always taking silly Buzzfeed quizzes when I am bored and scrolling through Facebook. We were able to choose any characters we wanted, so I chose to do members of the Christly family from the show Chrisley Knows Best. This is one of my favorite shows and I absolutely love this family. Creating the quiz took me a few minutes to figure out, but once I learned how to do it it was fairly easy. Here is the link, take my quiz and find out which Chrisley you are!

Buzzfeed Quiz

Im sure this has been done before, but I wanted to create my own Friends characters. I love this show, and I have re-watched it so many times. So I decided to create my personality quiz with it! Here you go, good luck!

This assignment was 4 1/2 stars. Which puts me at 8 stars, and I only need two more!

Which One Tree Hill Girl Are You?

I completed the Buzzfeed quiz creator assignment. I wanted to do this because I am a sucker for the buzzfeed quizzes. Every time I see them on Facebook, I can’t help but click on them. My quiz is a personality quiz to see which female character on One Tree Hill the quiz taker is most like. I chose One Tree Hill because it is my favorite show, so I know a lot about the character’s lives and personalities.

The Buzzfeed website gives step by step instructions for creating a personality quiz. I had to make an account and then click the create tab. Once it pulled up, it was all up to me. I had total creative control. I got to pick the title, the results, the pictures, and the questions. It also let me assign the different repsonses to the different characters in order to generate end quiz results.

The link to my quiz is here if you wish to take it! I took the quiz and my result was Haley James, which is ironic because my favorite character in the show is Brooke Davis!!

Find out who you are!

To start off this weeks worth of web assignments I made a BuzzFeed Quiz. I just had to join the community and make the quiz. It took a lot longer than I thought it would since I had to download all the images from Google. Also coming up with a topic was quite a bit of brainstorming but I got it. I did realize that one of my answers didn’t come up so it’s just a picture. It should say “I am if I want to win”.

I have two sisters and I love taking quizzes where I see who I am more like so I made one about us three! Take the quiz below (it’s hyperlinked) and let me know who you got!!!

Take my quiz!

This assignment was worth 4.5 stars.

Buzzfeed character quiz.

So, for this assignment, I reviewed a plethora of the characters from fellow ds106ers and pulled out a couple that I thought I could get into their mind the best. I typified their personas a bit, but isn’t that the point of a buzzfeed quiz? I created 4 questions to try and prevent ties, but in retrospect, 5 would have been best.  The hardest part of the assignment was trying to find out how to embed a buzzfeed post, but I never did figure it out. In the process, I found a few ways to just make the quizzes though word press, so if I develop the quiz more, I might try that instead. All I could do is post it to twitter and then embed it. That is probably better anyway because more people might see it now and actually be able to take it.

Which is Gilmore Character Are You?

Buzzfeed Personality Quiz- 4 Stars

Have you taken one of those fun personality quizzes on Buzzfeed? Now make your own! Sign in with Buzzfeed to create a community account (you can use gmail). Then start making a quiz for people to find out which character they are. Use any characters you like. There must be at least 3 results with descriptions and at least 6 questions. Be sure to include photographs as well. Once you have made the page publish it and share.

I take Buzzfeed quizzes all the time when I get on Facebook so I thought it would be fun to create my own for once.

The Work Itself

Story Behind the Story

I have been watching Gilmore Girls since the fifth grade. I still remember waiting for my mom to come home from work so we could watch the latest episode together. It was our favorite show hands-down and it’s still our favorite show. I remember how devastated my mom and I were when the series finally happened when I was in the seventh grade. We did not know what to do with ourselves.

Once Gilmore Girls appeared on Netflix for the first time last year, everyone suddenly knew what the show was and was obsessed, even though I had been trying to get people to watch for years. No one ever listened to me. Now that it is popular, I thought it would be fun to make a Buzzfeed quiz about a few of the characters. But I’m sure there are hundreds of them on the website.

Narrating the Process

So I have never made a buzzfeed quiz before so I was unsure of where to start. Luckily a fellow ds106 student made a tutorial and I was able to follow steps.

First I created my own buzzfeed account using my Google+ login information. Then I clicked More–>Make a Post–>More Options–>Quiz. The image below is what popped up. I proceeded to add the photos and the result descriptions necessary to create the quiz.

Once I published it, this is what appeared on the screen. Everything was done after that!Screenshot (40)

Which Nic Cage Character Are You? (Buzzfeed Personality Quiz Assignment)

I chose to complete the Buzzfeed Personality Quiz assignment this week as one of the two required web assignments. This assignment was worth 4 stars. The instructions are here, but I’ll include them below as well.

I chose to use various characters that legendary actor Nic Cage has played in his films. I’m sure most people are aware of the incredible work he’s been pumping out for years now, so why not celebrate three of his best films with a Buzzfeed quiz?

You probably think I’m joking, but I’m mostly serious. National Treasure might be the best movie ever made. Drive Angry is the best ridiculous movie out there. Left Behind is absolute garbage though. Had to include it just for that reason.

To start off the assignment, I had to make a Buzzfeed account. So I logged on, entered my information, followed the link in the verification email, and then I was in. I first searched for images of Benjamin Franklin Gates, Milton, and Raymond Steele. I saved each photo in a file on my computer and then uploaded them next to each name. I originally planned on having more questions, but coming up with them was actually more difficult than I expected. I spent the day at the Redskins game, so I was pretty brain-dead already. I tried to think of key differences between the characters and based my questions off of that. I chose to stick with text answers because, in the few Buzzfeed quizzes I’ve taken, the picture box answers annoy me and I much prefer to read the answers as a normal sentence.

What’s the Buzz?

Another week is in the books, and another two challenges are completed, as this time, I had to do two Web Assignments worth no less than six stars. Naturally, I chose two three-star tasks to check off this part of my weekly list, but this one managed to have its score balloon to three-and-a-half stars by the time I managed to get everything in order.

To make an embarrassingly long story short, even if I am too late for that, the task I’m referring to is the “BuzzFeed Personality Quiz, which I used to – albeit quickly, due to time constraints – construct a quiz modeled after a favorite anime series of mine.

Based on one of the earliest-known works of Detective Conan creator Gosho Aoyama, Magic Kaito 1412 may have only aired in Japan, starting around this time last year, but I openly enjoy it, even now, as it’s willing to take the tropes we normally associate with the mustache-twirling villains of old, and subverts them, for both dramatic and comedic effects, depending on the situation.

How else could you justify the fact than an aspiring stage illusionist decides to become a jewel thief to solve the mystery of his father’s (supposed) murder; his childhood friend uses a janitor’s mop as a weapon, whenever she gets angry; one of their classmates is a wicked, young witch whose only goal in life is to make every man in the world her slave – with the help of Lucifer as a spirit guide; and another one’s basically Sherlock Holmes, but without the drug addiction? This is what I was looking at with the task before me; it was a chance to see which high school archetype you are… if that school was in the “Land of the Rising Sun,” and your class clown doubled as the “Magician Under the Moonlight.”

The process began with the usual round of paperwork: Log on to BuzzFeed, preferably with my Google+ account; select “Make a Post,” “More” and “Quizzes,” in that order; and then, see what I could do with what the site could provide me. It was practically smooth sailing from that point onwards, as I gave four personality profiles when I was only asked for three, each one connected to one of the main characters in Magic Kaito – the titular phantom thief, Kaito Kuroba; the police inspector’s daughter, Aoko Nakamori; the scarlet temptress, Akako Koizumi; and the son of the superintendent general, Saguru Hakuba.

MK1412 BuzzFeed 1

Admittedly, the toughest part was the construction of the questions, themselves. Again, tying everything I know about Magic Kaito into a personality test was going to be a close call, but I think I made everything work out for the best, right on down to the photo selection for each question, and possible outcome of the test.

MK1412 BuzzFeed 2

The writing process took more time than I expected, but if it wasn’t for last-minute inspiration from the likes of Baggage and The Newlywed Game, as well as the idea to end everything on the biggest potential stealth pun of them all, I wouldn’t have gotten the necessary minimum of six questions needed for the test to be published. To be fair, starting the test off with a question about making the best possible entrance into a party didn’t hurt, either.

MK1412 BuzzFeed 3

Overall, everything worked out for the best, and this first set of stars was well-earned. This is easily my favorite project of the week, and I am more than satisfied with the effort I put into it.

As for the final product, I recommend that you take the test for yourself, here.
