Which SOA Character Are You?

The Work Itself

This assignment is titled “BuzzFeed Personality Quiz“. Its instructions are to “sign in with BuzzFeed to create a community account (you can use gmail). Then start making a quiz for people to find out which character they are. Use any characters you like. There must be at least 3 results with descriptions and at least 6 questions. Be sure to include photographs as well. Once you have made the page publish it and share.” Its difficulty rating is 3.5 stars.

In my Quiz, there are five results, and six questions. Each question has five answers, one answer to match with each character. A result will be generated based off a culmination of your answers. Son’s of Anarchy is a Netflix original television show. It is a fictional story of a motorcycle club/gang in Northern California. My quiz is a personality quiz to determine which character of the club an individual best resembles.

The Story Behind The Story

This past summer I began watching “Sons of Anarchy”, right now I am on season four. I love the show and I enjoy taking the BuzzFeed personality quizzes. I saw this assignment and I knew I wanted to create a  “SOA” character quiz. I only used five characters from the show, specifically the club. There are too many characters to use all of them. The questions relate to the themes of the show. For example it is a motorcycle club so an easy question is to ask “Which bike would you prefer to ride”. Another example to prove my questions connect to themes is the question “What is most important to you”. All the possible answers are driving forces in the show, and each answer surfaces in situations where the club faces a dilemma. My result for the quiz is Jax Teller!

The Process, Narrated

I created this personality quiz on BuzzFeed.com. This was the first quiz I have created, so it took a few minutes to understand the directions. It is a rather simple process. I created a title, and a description of the quiz. I then uploaded thumbnail images to serve as a cover photo(s) for the quiz. Then I created my five results (five characters). I downloaded an image of each character off of Google and uploaded them individually into the image boxes. I wrote a short description of each character personality in the text box. I created a six questions. For each question I wrote the header or title of the question. I uploaded an image to depict the question and pasted it into the image box. I copied and pasted the url of each image into the “image credit” box. I created five answers to each question. Each question correlates to each character. When approiptate I added pictures to each answer. I added a short text description for each answer to help the participants understand each possible answer. Again, it was a relatively easy process, “BuzzFeed” gives you step by step instructions.

Here are a few photos documenting my process.

Are You More Claire or John?

“Have you taken one of those fun personality quizzes on Buzzfeed? Now make your own! Sign in with Buzzfeed to create a community account (you can use gmail). Can I just say that this should be worth more than 3 stars? Because it should. What it lacks in overall difficulty it more than makes up for in how time consuming it is. Once I realized just how long it was going to take, I was too far in to turn back. But it’s done now, so all is well I suppose.

ANYWAY. I decided to go ahead and use the characters in “The Breakfast Club” for my Quiz. I just watched the movie for one of my classes and am currently writing a paper on the characters, so what easier movie to use right?

Like I said before, the process itself was really easy, it just took a lot of time to stitch together. Once I decided on my movie, the first thing I did was log into Buzzfeed using my gmail account. I picked a title for my quiz and wrote a description that sounded like many of the descriptions that you see on these types of quizzes.

getting started

Once that was done, I went ahead and downloaded all the pictures I would need for the results section of my quiz and wrote up each of their descriptions.

finding pictures

I then had to go through and write the questions. I went with some of the more common questions that I see in these quizzes and decided that due to the fact that I have about 18 other assignments to work on, three questions would suffice. I filled in all the answers and previewed the quiz, but it felt empty without some sort of pop of color. I found color blocks on google and added those in as the images for each answer choice.

Once that was done, I ran through the quiz to make sure that each answer choice was matched with the appropriate character and published it. Enjoy!

Buzzfeed Personality Quiz: Walking Dead Version

Buzzfeed Personality Quiz: Have you taken one of those fun personality quizzes on Buzzfeed? Now make your own! Sign in with Buzzfeed to create a community account (you can use gmail). Be sure to include photographs as well. Once you have made the page publish it and share. (3 stars).

For this web assignment, I decided to create my own Buzzfeed quiz! These quizzes are so random, and vary with topics. I decided to use The Walking Dead. This is one of my favorite shows that is dramatic and also very interesting as the characters try to survive during a zombie apocalypse. I used a character quiz which usually asks questions that lead you to find out which character you are from the show!! First, I signed up with Buzzfeed. Then, I started creating the quiz. First, you make the results. So in this case, the results were the different characters. I used pictures and then put their name and a brief description of the character. I used Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, Carol Peletier, and a walker.

Then, I made the questions with the answers. I made 6 questions. You are able to choose picture answers or just text. I stuck with text for my answers! Then, I published my quiz on Buzzfeed! Here is a screenshot from the final product:

It was a fun assignment! I always take these quizzes and they are always goofy and fun. It was easy but I also have never made one before so it took some time to look around and figure out what exactly I was making. It was also interesting for me to design this quiz which also has its own unique URL. Basically, knowing that I designed this myself made it so much more cool!

SO here is the link to find out which Walking Dead character you are!

Enjoy :)

What Is Your Passion Archetype Character Buzzfeed Quiz

Archetype Collage (Buzzfeed quiz cover)

What are your natural aptitudes? Based very loosely off of multiple intelligences. Are you the Artist, the Technologist, the Naturalist, the Performer, the Musician, the Poet, the Athlete, Puzzle Fighter, or the Renaissance Man or Woman?

A Meaningful Assignment

This week I focused on Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Theory and Ken Robinson’s The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything. In so many ways this scholarship resonated with chapter seven in the Lankshear and Knobel text as well as my focal theme ‘the importance of creative arts in education.’ I wanted to find a ds106 assignment that could help me synthesize scholarship with ‘new literacies’ application. The literacy dimensions and cultural appreciation in order to craft a Buzzfeed personality quiz that has humor and meaning is really challenging. To create a quiz in this nature, one must use writing skills, logic, artistic, and technical ability. This is exactly why I chose to do this assignment: WebAssignments, WebAssignments1641. I wanted to ‘apply’ multiple intelligences and share this theory with others. I believe understanding and application of this theory as teachers and learners, one can better know oneself or their students. This understanding leads to better study habits or lesson planning and engagement. It’s important to note that as a teacher, this would also mean catering to several different types of learners, thus, why it is important to practice creative arts disciplines through synthesis of core subject curriculums. If you are new to Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Theory, I suggest watching this brief video here.

After watching the video take a short self assessment test. With the results of the assessment in mind, then take the Buzzfeed quiz. The Buzzfeed quiz is intended to add an extra dimension to the concept of multiple intelligences. In that it suggests you may favor certain roles or archetypical characters. It is this idea of these ‘characters’ that makes the ‘just for fun’ Buzzfeed assessment inspiring. As opposed to Howard Gardner’s classification such as “visual-spatial,” the Buzzfeed quiz suggest you are an artist or a designer. Not just any artistic character, Salvador Dali, was in fact the artifact image I chose to represent artists. I think by using artifacts in this way, it has great meaning to the test takers. Perhaps more meaning than knowing one is ‘logical’ or ‘visual-spatial’? Or for test takers that are unfamiliar with the chosen artifact it gives them an opportunity to click the link for the source image and read about the character represented. All things considered, this assignment for myself, and I hope the test takers, is meaningful and fun. (This is for entertainment purposes but some may still find the quiz inciteful).

Take the Buzzfeed Quiz

Crafting a Buzzfeed quiz

At first, I brushed off the Buzzfeed quiz as something that may be relatively easy to do. I’ve made quizzes before as an instructor, but actually, the dimensions to the Buzzfeed quizzes are far greater than a typical quiz you may give students in a brick and mortar classroom. For instance, every question requires a picture which then needs to be given appropriate credits and linkage. These images as cultural artifacts are intended to have meaning to a vast number of people. So the breadth of cultural knowledge to consider is challenging and then also the choice of one cultural artifact over another.

Then there’s the questions – witty, meaningful, with a little bit of tact (hopefully not too offensive). Also embedded in each question there are three answers. For each answer, the quiz maker can assign a result and this is the tricky part. The way in which the answers are phrased (biased of course) can mean more or less probability for one result over another. For example:

Q1: I like to paint, draw, or create things.

A1: Yes, Creating art is my life.

A2: No, Art is boring.

A3: Sometimes, When I feel inspired.

If “No” is selected, I can assign that result to ‘logical’ or ‘technical’ based characters as they are, in my mind, the opposite of artistic. This is a stereotype of course but the Buzzfeed quizzes, in my experience, are intended to be funny and rely on these stereotypes. Just like a good comic makes his or her jokes relatable to the audience, they use artifacts that rely on stereotypes – it’s part of humanity and culture. Ultimately, these responses to the 20 total questions created 60 possible answers to sort through. I decided to make equal chances for each character result and after I tested this it was too boring. I tested the offline quiz and had a few friends and family members take it as well. I took the quiz at least 10-15 times and I tried to enter a frame of mind of each character to result in that character. I had to spice up the responses a little to make it more funny to engage the audience.

I added the characters here for amusement. There are 10 different characters so chances are you will only result in a couple. I hope you enjoy the quiz!

The Artist
You might be good at creating compelling imagery, sculpted objects, or motion graphics. You observe the world and interpret it through artistic expression. You thrive in disorder and lack of income.

The Designer

You seek order and perfection in all things man-made. You may practice drawing, CAD, 3D modeling, and building structures… and sometimes you may also practice obsessive compulsive disorder.
The Technologist

You specialize in using technology to your advantage. You may be good at coding and (or) electrical engineering. You have an intimate relationship with your computer(s).

The Naturist
You love nature. You often long to be outdoors. You may enjoy hiking, gardening, and taking care of pets or domestic animals. Baths are optional.

The Performer
You like being in the spotlight. You may like to dance, act, or play and sing music on stage or in front of the camera. Your excellent at ignoring the strange looks in public transit for reenacting all the parts from entire plays.

The Musician
You enjoy listening and (or) creating music. You find meaning and purpose in experiencing life through music and can’t live without it. When lacking inspiration, you may find interesting places to put tattoos and piercings.

The Poet
You relate to the world through words. You may like blogging, writing in a journal, or creating poetry. Your favorite past time may be curling up with a good book or correcting your best friend’s grammar mistakes.

The Athlete
You can’t sit still for more than 10 minutes. You seek physical activities and competition where you can exhibit your athletic tendencies. You were once diagnosed with ADHD and refused to take your meds… then proceeded to literally climb all the walls in your school.

The Puzzle Fighter
You enjoy exercises in logic. You may be good at solving rubiks cubes, Pi, and the mysteries of the universe. You may enjoy studying the molecular structures of various types of cheeses through sniff tests.

The Renaissance Man or Woman
You excel at many things and you find variety stimulating. You thrive when you can use your multiple talents to solve problems. When bored, you may find yourself looking for employment in a completely different profession or applying to graduate school… again.

Who are you like?

I did the assignment http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/buzzfeed-personality-quiz/ because I thought it would be interesting to see what character of our agency you got. Who do you really think you are or do you know most? It shouldn’t take you long to accomplish this short quiz and see which one of us mysterious four women you could be  similar too ;).

I did this on buzzfeed.com and then I went to Personality Quiz and created it on there. I made 6 questions and had three or four answers for each question to go with each member of our group. Once I thought of all the questions I went through and added pictures for each answer and question to give you a visual of them. Once I had all the questions and answers with pictures I saved and published it. If you want to take our quiz go ahead and click the link at the bottom, you won’t regret it! :) I mean who does not want to know which member of the Black Widow Agency you are most likely like.

OR You Murdered Your Husband in Cold Blood & Want to Get Rid of the Evidence

So there was this web assignment entitled Buzzfeed Personality Quiz worth 3 stars.

The task?

Have you taken one of those fun personality quizzes on Buzzfeed? Now make your own! Sign in with Buzzfeed to create a community account (you can use gmail). Then start making a quiz for people to find out which character they are. Use any characters you like. There must be at least 3 results with descriptions and at least 6 questions. Be sure to include photographs as well. Once you have made the page publish it and share.

Well. Lucky for me, I was able to make one about my co-workers in the Agency. I titled my Quiz: Which Member of No Stain No Problem Should Clean Up Your Mess. We all have different specialties, so depending on your lifestyle, and what you need us to clean, you will get a different answer. Also, you should be 100% honest because otherwise you WILL NOT get accurate results.

Anyway, I created a buzzfeed account using my gmail, and started making the quiz. I made each question, and then gave 5 answers, one that matched to each member of NSNP. I made 10 questions that I thought would accurately help us gage what type of cleaning expertise you may need. I also wanted to match you up personality wise, because that obviously makes it more fun. After I finished all of the questions, I added pictures to the ones that I felt could use a little sprucing up. This took me about an hour to do, especially because I couldn’t get it to work on chrome and I had to switch to safari. Once I did that, it was smooth sailing.

Anyway, you should consider taking our quiz…and by should consider I mean YOU HAVE TO BECAUSE I SAID SO. Either me, (Blair), Stella, Mick, Billy or Jack will be the right fit for you. We’re all good at cleaning, and drinking.

Which Steadfast Sleuth are you?

BuzzFeed Personality Quiz (3 stars)

So perhaps I am a bit conceited in believing others would be interested in this for our agency. But I thought it would be interesting to create a personality quiz on BuzzFeed to see which Steadfast Sleuth people would be. Something fun for our agency to have, since our line of work is typically pretty depressing.

The actual process of making the quiz wasn’t too difficult. The steps were fairly self explanatory. You just followed BuzzFeed’s directions. The difficult part is coming up with the response answers and the questions. I chose to make 7 questions, some noir related and some not. I really enjoyed coming up with the different answers for myself and my colleagues, but it was challenging to write a description for all three of us. It was also challenging to find different pictures for each question to include. I hope that people are as interested in finding out which Steadfast Sleuth they are as I am.
