Memory Lane

Daily Create #4

You know the feeling when you meet someone and you both just ‘click’? After that moment you know that the two of you are going to be good friends. Well that’s what happened to me and my friend, Jenna. Our story began when we were six years old and we’ve been together ever since, from elementary school all the way through college. We’ve shared big memories together such as the photos I included in my collage below.

In this collage display I list moments such as (starting from left to right), middle school graduation, the first time we traveled together, senior prom, high school graduation, and the first day of college. The reason I chose this assignment was because I wanted to pick something different. The last three assignments involved using GIMP and adding things to a new picture, but this one was more of creating a collage. Below you can find instructions on how to recreate this collage.

Step 1: Go to the BeFunky website and create a collage. Select the computer button to upload your photos.

Step 2: Select auto fill.

Step 3: Go to the far left side of the website and select the layer icon.

Step 4: Scroll down and select the grid section, pick the layout you want.

Step 5: When you finish with step 4 save your image.

How To Storytell

Are you wondering how to do the storytelling assignment? Well, look no further than here!

http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/storytelling-through-pictures/

1. Decide what you want to base the story off of. Are you going to tell the story of your life? A sports team you made? Your first year of college? A friendship?

2. Once that is decided, look for pictures that show the story accurately. Try to not use words, try to just look for good pictures that really bring the story together.

3. Decide if you are going to create a timeline or college, or anything else you believe will tell the story right.

4. Put the pictures to together in storytelling order..make sure it makes sense to someone who doesn’t know you.

5. Do a brief right up about it, explain what you showed the story of and why you did it, use this as a time to reflect upon yourself.

Here is an example:

I did a college, starting in the left corner, my first semester of college, my first college football game cheering with my best friend. Then I continued on with three pictures with my other best friend, one is the first picture we took and the other the last we took before I left SU. Then going down, my move in day at UMW, with my best friend! Continuing we have my first basketball game as a UMW cheerleader, my first UMW snow day, my amazing boyfriend and I, UMW cheer competing for the first time in SEVEN years, my first experience in the river and of course..swimming in the fountain! Finishing off in the center with the girls who showed me what family and a team means, the ones who support me through everything and who I get to cheer with for three more years. I chose my college story as my choice because it made me who I was, it has taught me so much and I couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunities I have been given. My story is full of amazing friends and memories and I hope it really shows how much I enjoy and appreciate everything I have been given.

Storytelling Through Pictures

Storytelling is the best way to get a message across, to be creative and to speak ones mind. For this assignment you can tell the story of your life through pictures in whatever way you chose. Whether you tell us about your life as a child and show pictures of the best times of your life, like walking and rolling (maybe a future gymnast?) we want to see! You could even make a timeline of the most important parts of your life, like getting your license and loosing your first tooth. Or maybe all about you’re college experience, the friends made and lessons learned. Tell us your story, through pictures. Try not to use words, let the pictures speak for themselves and have fun. Take some thought into it and really reach far and try to show us what your life is made of, whats important to you. You can make a college or a timeline, whatever you think acurately shows the story of what you are trying to show the best.
