Sometimes actors make mistakes. Sometimes they say the wrong line. Sometimes they can’t stop laughing. And sometimes they say stage directions as lines. Like Kevin Sorbo in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9d5TchX51o). Take an actor’s mistake and turn it into an animated GIF. You might have to dig through blooper reels to find one, but sometimes (especially with TV shows) they make it to the final version because no one noticed or it was recorded live. Leaving the audience wondering what the heck they were actually supposed to say.

Are you a “Brony”? Wish you could be one? Find a nice piece of video from the hit series “My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic” and GIF it up! Bonus points for each pony, pegasus, or unicorn you can manage to get into the scene.

The 1950 film Gun Crazy has been on my mind a bit these days, particularly the first scene wherein the protagonist steals a gun from the local hardware store. The whole film centers around the morbid fascination with guns in the U.S., and I wanted to see if I couldn’t capture that spirit with a montage GIF.

This is not to celebrate gun culture but its representation and role in film.

It seems that animated GIFs and the DS106 Digital Storytelling community were made for one another. Celebrate this connection by incorporating ds106 into an animated GIF. See if you can take advantage of an element already in the image — an address, a sign, or something else, rather than just adding the complete title. DS106 rocks the GIF !!

Using the theme of Language Teaching or Learning gif something up!

Eyes are so expressive, they say so much about a person or a character.

Make an animated GIF where the expression is mostly or solely in the eyes, so if you can isolate the personality just via eye movement.

Animate one of those frustrating moments when you know time is moving forward, but it’s just so damn hard to tell.
