Audio Assignments

Mixing Soundtracks

Pick two or three soundtracks from a movie and use the intrumental of those sountarack to create music. In my exmple I took the intrumentals of three soundtrack from the movie “Me Before You”. The three sountracks I used are Not Today, Till the End and Don’t Forget About Me.

Imagine Dragons Mash Up

This is a fairly simple idea.  Take any Imagine Dragons song and mash it up with another!  It can be any song you choose- Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, or even Halsey!  Whatever artist you think would fit with one of their songs works or just make something silly and choose Lady Gaga!

Old poem same feeling

For this assignement you must first pic a poem. Once you find this poem you mash it up (Or sing it if you choose.) with the instramental of a song. For my version I mashed up a beautiful Instrumental of Wiz Khalifa’s See You Again with my attempt to sing Shakespear’s sonnet 104 about an old friend.

No Music – Music Video

I started out by using Youtube to find the music video. Then I signed up for freesound.org to find the sound affects. Lastly I used Movie Maker to edit the music video and insert the noises. This process was fairly easy but the hardest part is finding sounds to go over talking or singing. I used the record option to provide dialogue to insert into the video aswell.

Remixed Music Video

For this assignment, string together pictures and music of an artist and create a remixed music video to one of their songs! My example is Michael Jackson’s Remember the Time. I used to do videos like this with Lady GaGa, and I did one previously with Michael Jackson, so I took some cut videos from my laptop and matched them with an upbeat song by him. I painstakingly attempted to match his dance moves to the beat of the song, and added pictures to help keep with the timing! Hope y’all enjoy it!

Fictional Radio Ad

Congratulations! You’ve been hired by your favorite fantasy world to create a radio ad for the imaginary business or event of your choice. Be as creative as you can and background music is highly encouraged. Simply give all the details about the business or occasion and maybe even create a clever slogan to go along with it! For mine, I made an ad for Linus’ Pumpkin Patch/ the Great Pumpkin Festival from PEANUTS, however yours can be anything you wish! I highly recommend stripping background music from a youtube video and recording your voice/putting everything together in garage band or a similar application. Afterwards, go ahead and string some photos together to create an iMovie file that can be easily shared on YouTube. Have Fun!

Daily Life Switcheroo

We should remake an already established character from TV, Movies, Games, anything like that and change something from their history. The change can be something that would happen eventually, just sped up or it can be something completely new and unexpected. That change will have to be big enough that their daily life from a few years before and from “now” don’t consist of anything remotely similar.

Merging the orginial song with a cover

Take the original version of a song and mix it with a cover that is drastically different. This will allow you to truly see the difference in the two songs in real time. It could be a slow version of the song and then a faster paced version of the song. It is cool to see how different artist’s create different versions of the same song. An example would be to mix Michael Jackson’s song ‘Smooth Criminal’ with Alien Ant Farm’s version of the song. The chorus is a perfect example since it would go from the softer more pop version of Jackson’s to the hard guitar version of AAF.

P!NK’s Emotions

For this assignment, we had to create our own audio assignment, it could be a mashup of music or sounds, all it had to do was be mixed.  For this assignment, I chose to create a mash-up of four different songs from the artist P!NK.  These four songs all show the different emotions that she was feeling when she wrote and sang the songs.  Each song is connected by a similar lyric from the previous song.  For example, in “So What” she beings the chorus with, “So what, I’m still a rockstar” and “Raise Your Glass”‘s chorus begins with “So raise your glass if you are wrong”.  These two songs are connected with the “So” from “So What” and the “Raise your glass” from “Raise Your Glass”

Theme song Parody

Take the theme song of your favorite show and prioritize it around a specific character. As if it is being sang by or about him or her. What perspective do they have. If the theme song has no lyrics, make some up. It has to be to the tune of the show. Try to make it as unique to that character as you can. Most importantly have fun with it. Bonus points to whoever can do it in the characters voice.

P.S. I apologize for the example I can’t really sing and lost my voice due to a cold.
