Video Assignments

Lfie as an Animal

Create a day in the life as an animal. Pick from begining to end pictures or videos of a perfect day in the life of an animal and create a video out of them. Be creative! Include music to go with the feel of the pictures or videos used.

Special Person Montage

For this assignment you are to decide on who is special to you. It could be a relative, sibling, parent, friend, mentor, celebrity, or anyone. Then you are to make a video of images or video clips of them showing all the different things that they do that makes them special to you. Add music, animation, transition, anything to make the video. In your write-up be sure to explain why the person is special to you.

Play By Play

Using video from a football game, add YOUR voice as the play by play commentator. Use the names of the players you know, or just make up your own names! Use colorful commentary between plays, and use a minimum of 4 plays. Here’s your chance to call the big game!

The Complete Package

Pick a television series that is already over and make a trailer for the series using various clips of the show that is a minimum of 2 minutes in length.

That Bleeping Censor

You get to be the censor of a movie scene or clip.  Choose a sound effect or dialogue you want to substitute for a recurring phrase or expletive, or over-used character speech and use it at the appropriate moments in your movie.

Save your movie on YouTube and embed it into your blog which you will link to this assignment using the appropriate tags.

Create A Music Video

This assignment is essentially to create your own music video for a song. There are many different ways to go about this. If you’re using a Mac it is very simple to record videos and upload and edit them into iMovie. If you’re using a PC, Windows Movie Maker is probably the way to go, unless you have a software like Final Cut which is is the top of the line. It doesn’t have to be the entire song, but at least try and get a minute and a half to two minute length. Trust me, this assignment can be tough, but it’s definitely a lot of fun.

Today It’s All About Me

Make a video and brag about yourself for at least two minutes. The point of this is not to make your head so big that it explodes but to build your self-esteem. Don’t brag about your children, your pets, or anything outside of you. You don’t have to dress up for this, in fact it would be better to roll out of bed and make the video. You can start off small with “I once had a good hair day like two years ago” It might help to make a list beforehand so that you can film the two minutes all at the same time. Yes, you are amazing. Tell everyone why…

But First, Let Me Take a Selfie

The term “selfie” has become very popular within this generation. Google defines the term as a photograph that one takes of oneself with a smart phone or webcam. For this assignment, there will be a compilation of video, selfies and music. First, record a scenario where it would be a bad time to take a selfie. Then, insert at least ten selfies with different moods, expressions, filters for each one. Then, compile the video recording and photographs into a video. Lastly, insert the Selfie Song song where the words match up to yours.

I have attached an example for this assignment.

Name that Book!

For this assignment, use the app Vine to visually create a book title. Find objects, landmarks, or think of some other creative way to verbally or physically represent a book title. Then record them in quick succession using the app. Then upload the video and have your classmates guess the book title! (By the way here is the answer.)

The Healthy Vine Challenge!

The Healthy Vine Challenge

Create a Vine video that illustrates you cooking a complete meal! You must include a meat (or protein source, if you have a personal preference or dietary restriction), a veggie side, and a healthy side of your choice. Take two 2-second clips of the meal preparations, then one 2-second clip of the final product, in all its glory!

**Remember: This is only a 6-second video, so stick with capturing three separate 2-second long clips.

First, if you don’t already have the application, Vine, then download it on your smartphone or via https://vine.co/.

Next, follow the steps of the application’s tutorial. It will give you specific directions on how to record individual video segments. When you are ready to begin, make sure you are on the app’s camera setting.

When you are finished recording your clips, the finished product will be a back to back video of everything you taped! It’s a really fun way to capture the highlights of whatever you’re doing, wether you’re at a concert, a family dinner, or just sitting in your living room, Vine is a creative outlet for anyone with an appreciate for how new digital technologies make cinematography so much easier!!

Once you have your finished product, e-mail the video to yourself. If you have a smartphone, then the video will automatically be saved in your photos. If you don’t, then e-mail yourself the URL. That way, you can easily embed the video into a blog post.

In this post describe why you chose the ingredients that you did. Also, explain your thought process. Did you wing it? Did you follow a recipe? Had you made any of it before? How often do you cook healthy foods? Talk about whatever you want regarding your experience with the Healthy Vine Challenge. The catch is you can only use a maximum of 250 words. That’s a small amount of words for a thorough explanation, so choose your words selectively– just like you did with your ingredients ;). But above all, be creative!
