The Healthy Vine Challenge!

The Healthy Vine Challenge

Create a Vine video that illustrates you cooking a complete meal! You must include a meat (or protein source, if you have a personal preference or dietary restriction), a veggie side, and a healthy side of your choice. Take two 2-second clips of the meal preparations, then one 2-second clip of the final product, in all its glory!

**Remember: This is only a 6-second video, so stick with capturing three separate 2-second long clips.

First, if you don’t already have the application, Vine, then download it on your smartphone or via https://vine.co/.

Next, follow the steps of the application’s tutorial. It will give you specific directions on how to record individual video segments. When you are ready to begin, make sure you are on the app’s camera setting.

When you are finished recording your clips, the finished product will be a back to back video of everything you taped! It’s a really fun way to capture the highlights of whatever you’re doing, wether you’re at a concert, a family dinner, or just sitting in your living room, Vine is a creative outlet for anyone with an appreciate for how new digital technologies make cinematography so much easier!!

Once you have your finished product, e-mail the video to yourself. If you have a smartphone, then the video will automatically be saved in your photos. If you don’t, then e-mail yourself the URL. That way, you can easily embed the video into a blog post.

In this post describe why you chose the ingredients that you did. Also, explain your thought process. Did you wing it? Did you follow a recipe? Had you made any of it before? How often do you cook healthy foods? Talk about whatever you want regarding your experience with the Healthy Vine Challenge. The catch is you can only use a maximum of 250 words. That’s a small amount of words for a thorough explanation, so choose your words selectively– just like you did with your ingredients ;). But above all, be creative!

Create Your Dream Vacation on Pinterest!

Create A Pinterest Board Of Your Dream Vacation
This is an assignment for dreamers!

If you don’t already have a Pinterest account, create one! Next, take a moment and contemplate where you would want to go. A vacation does not necessarily mean you have to select one place to travel to. It can involve a variety of locations.

Start off by creating a “board” for your dream vacation. All you have to do to create your board is click the “create a board” option on your main profile page. You could title it “My Dream Vacation,” like I did, or come up with something more personalized. You can select a category, such as “travel,” if you want, but neither a category, nor a description, are necessary to continue.

Next, try plugging keywords into the search box on Pinterest for cities, countries, specific landmarks, attractions, etc. and “pin” your favorite images/travel blog links/recipes/etc. onto your new board! To pin, hover your mouse over the image and a red “Pin it” button will pop up in the top left corner. Go ahead and click on it.

**The purpose of these pins is to give Pinterest subscribers access to a variety of recipes, photography, travel guides, blogs, literally EVERYTHING digital.

Next, Pinterest will ask you which board you would like to pin it to. Make sure you select the board you created for this assignment. You can either keep the description the pin came with, or create your own! Completely up to you. And lastly, just click the red button again, and you will have successfully added your first pin! Congratulations!

Keep searching and adding pins until you have developed a solid amount of things to do/see/eat on your dream vacation!

Next, embed a link of your “Dream Vacation” Pinterest board in to a blog post and write out a brief summary of the trip you desire. It’s up to you what you want to write about, but some ideas would be:

– Talk about if you feel like this trip will be possible for you someday, why or why not?
– What is required for your dream vacation to come true? (Don’t just say money, do your research.)
– Do the place(s) you plan to go have a different native language? If it’s an exotic trip, are there legal requirements, such as shots, visas, etc.?

Really get to know your dream vacation– maybe it’ll happen someday!

Movie Mashup

Take a movie that you really like.  Now think of a movie that has been compared to it, and make a new movie poster that incorporates the two!

Be creative and really sell your poster!

Recite an Original Poem

Write a poem, but not just any poem.  Your poem must set the scene for your blog theme.  It should match the colors, layout, and overall theme of your posts.  The poem contents/meaning, structure, and length (at least 10 lines) are up to you.

This poem should be recited using a recording software (or straight to soundcloud) without any extra audio.  You need a steril environment.  This is your blog so we should only hear your voice!!

Embed the audio into a blog post and tag it appropriatly.  Remember, we will all see the theme of your blog in the post!  Don’t forget Design week; use the shapes and layout as inspiration.  Read through this to learn more about what the colors on your blog can tell someone.

Animate a Classic Painting

Choose a classic painting and animate in anyway you want. Make it move, blink, or add another image to make it come to life. Remember be creative and make it interesting.

Guess the Song

You have to create a poster that describes a popular song while also using an image of yourself, without telling us what the song is.

It’s kind of a mix between the minimalist assignment and the 4 images one movie assignment using the Noun Project, except you have to put yourself in it.

Barcode Transformation

Recently on Pinterest I discovered some images of designs people made out of barcodes. Turn a simple. boring barcode into something interesting by using an image of a barcode and forming a different object or design. For examples, look here.

Back to basics

Choose a photo of anything that you want to make a stencil out of using Photoshop or some other editing software. Using your software, remove the color and make the image appear to be a stencil instead of an actual photo. Take notice of how this changes the focus of the image.

Remix a Song with some Speech

Take a song and some speech and remix both. Make it meaningful and give it a message. For example this is often used to cite politicians and underline the importance of a statement. (For me coming from Berlin these could be JFK’s words “Ich bin ein Berliner!” – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Pjn5E6yOKo)

Cheesy Radio Ad For Your School

Ever watch those crazy corny ad’s for colleges on Tv? Or hear them on the radio? You think “Wow that was so cheesy, I could’a done that!” Well, let’s see if you can. Try and make a purposely cheesy and/or ridiculous Ad for you school.
