bumper #1

This week I made a bumper for my groups radio show. As mentioned we are doing our show on college advice so I made sure to add that in when I was recording. I used audacity to record myself and I got the background music from the free music archive. After I mixed them together using audacity I uploaded my work to sound cloud!

Radio Bumper Time!

Radio Bumper: http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/creat-a-ds106-radio-bumper/
Now that we have a #ds106 radio up and running creating a 15 to 30 second bumper for the station. What is a bumper? It is a short recording that identifies the radio station with signature music or an expression that makes sure the listeners know what they are tuned into

I went very simple with this Radio Bumper so it was easier to create then mixing multiple audio clips together. I also created a small script with what to say and added notes on the way I should say it by hearing other radio bumpers. It was a bit time consuming but because I had some more practice with Audacity I knew what tools to use. I also enjoy adding effects to my voice. I wish I could distort my voice until I can’t recognize it anymore but oh well I have to deal with it. Anyways it was fun like last time but still cringy to hear my own voice over and over again.

HOW IT WORKS!
1.) I looked for audio in FreeSound.org and downloaded one audio clip

2.) I imported this to Audacity and added my voice as well
3.) I then cut down unnecessary silence and added effects such as ‘reverb’ and ‘compressor’
4.) Finally I lowered the volume of the background music and enhanced my voice a tad.

Goodbye….

For my last audio assignment this week I decided to do another radio bumper. I decided to make it kind of a goodbye bumper for radio show. I was really excited to do this radio bumper and kind of say goodbye to the radio show.

Like all the other audio assignments, I wrote down a loose script to what I want to say and then recorded it. With this being the 3 audio assignment that I have done this week the script was not as detailed as past audio assignments.

I think this was my favorite assignment of the week! I really am getting a lot more comfortable with recording my voice!

Kick Back and Relax

For one of my audio assignments this week, I decided to do a radio bumper for our radio show. I felt a lot less nervous this time when record than I have in the past with audio assignments.

The first thing I did was create a little script. I want to make sure that I got all the information I need to get across and not miss anything. When recording I actually ended up adding something to the end! I really enjoyed making this radio bumper!

Radio Bite

The original assignment was to create a radio bite for the DS106 radio. I thought I would take this opportunity and make a radio bite for my groups radio show since this was one of the tasks I took on when we split the work. Having done all of the previous work this week figuring the details of the show out it made it easy when making the radio bite. I thought of the famous intro sound to CSI to start it off and set the tone. I google the sound and downloaded it for free off of the second add from google. I then used that in audacity and recorded my voice to create the rest of the sound bite.

Check out this bumper, y’all

Keep it Bumpin

As I began thinking about my bumper, I decided to tune in to the local station beat 101.5 to gather some inspiration. I noticed that in almost every verse or statement, they conclude with the phrase “101.5” or with the beat that rhymes with 101.5. Although I wish I were talented enough to create a beat that rhymes with our radio show title “The Breakfast Club” (maybe a goal by the end of the semester), I chose to ultimately conclude my bumper with the same idea.

I used freesound.org once again to choose my sick beat, and actually liked the beat so much I decided to also use the same beat for my 80s radio show commercial. I imported my audio voice recording and converted it into a WAV file to be able to use in Audacity. I then imported my free sound into the same platform and cut the sound to match my voice recording. I then saved the file as a WAV file and uploaded it to soundcloud. Hope you enjoy it!

“Listen to all the hits and keep up with what was popular in the 80s. Stay tuned for more interviews on the 80s and what were their favorite music hits and movies and to hear what we think. Catch it all here, on The Breakfast Club Radio. Where we love, listen, and do all things 80s.”

What’s Their Damage? Bumper

This is a radio bumper I tried out for my groups show, I’m not sure how I like it though! The other beginning and end voice is the Joker from The Dark Knight, played by Heath Ledger. It’s one of my favorite lines and the Joker is my favorite super villain so I wanted to incorporate that. Then I used a small part of the emergency alert sound to cut to the other sound because that’s the sound they use to alert the public via radio. I wanted to use the show name, obviously, but I wanted it to sound like it was a witness speaking and the voice is distorted. Finally it cuts back to the Joker. Still not sure how I feel about it..

Around the World: 80s Style Bumper!

Today I got to do a radio show bumper as my audio assignment to contribute to our radio show: “Around the World: 80s Style.” Because we’re essentially traveling around the world, I decided to make it sound like the listeners were in a plane, and I–the flight attendant–am announcing our itinerary. Then I close it with an audio music file from http://freesound.org called “Back to the 80s.” So not only are we traveling around the world, we’re also traveling back in time!

Radio Show: Bumpington

For this post, I’ve decided to make this one of my audio assignments while also using it as a radio show promo assignment for the upcoming radio shows. What a busy week I’ve had so far… Regardless, I was still able to get around to my radio show bumper for our new radio show — … Continue reading “Radio Show: Bumpington”
