Bumper the Radio

For another audio Assignment I did Create A Ds106 Radio Bumper which I did before for the ds106 radio. however this time I changed it up a bit and created a bumper for our group radio show. Rated 4 Stars

I used audacity to record my voice and then before my recording I added some fun music that I liked. This bumper was also fun to create. Hope you enjoy!

80’s Brain Cells You Forgot About Radio Show Bumper

“IT DOESN’T SMELL LIKE CACA TO ME SEÑOR!”

This is my bumper I made for my radio show group, 80’s Brain Cells You Forgot About. Since we will be talking about scary movies from the 80’s, Stephen King’s IT came to mind. Therefore, I decided to include one of my favorite lines from the remake of IT. I also used a song from my audio assignment, Played From Another Room, as the background music for my bumper!

I hope you are very entertained as you get to hear my disgusting voice, saying one of the best lines from Richie Tozier!

Radio Show Bumper

This a short radio show bumper I created for my groups project. I recorded myself talking by voice memo and an 80s beat through youtube by voice memo. I combined both of these voice memos into GarageBand, then uploaded onto SoundCloud.

BUMP UP THE JAM

? Bump up the jam, bump it up
A bump it up yo bump it ?

Technotronic Melody

Hey, this assignment looks familiar! This week, I created another bumper for Ds106 Radio. I wanted to make one that more specifically promoted my group’s 80’s television Power Half-Hour, so I made a new recording for that purpose. The assignment is from, Create A Ds106 Radio Bumper, and the task for this assignment is as follows:

“Now that we have a #ds106 radio up and running creating a 15 to 30 second bumper for the station. What is a bumper? It is a short recording that identifies the radio station with signature music or an expression that makes sure the listeners know what they are tuned into (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bumper_(broadcasting)). So for ds106 it should certainly include “DS106 Radio” and some sort of message about the station with voice over music”

Using the same method as before, I searched for a cool 80’s synth beat to mix with my voice recording. I found an “80’s mean” beat over at freesound, and imported it into Audacity. I trimmed the track and synced it to my audio. I then used the envelope tool to quiet the music at the part where I give my promo for my group’s radio series. Finally, I uploaded to Soundcloud, where I then I re-read the assigment and noticed my bumper was too short! I went back in to Audacity and extended the intro by 2 seconds and the outro by 1 second. I still had the original bumper assignment in my head that said, make a bumper that’s 10-30 seconds in length. I decided a longer intro wouldn’t sound terrible, so I fixed it and re-uploaded to Soundcloud. I then noticed that Soundcloud clipped the very beginning beat for my bumper! This is a very annoying thing that exporting and uploading audio tends to do, so I fixed it in Audacity by adding nothing to the beginning and uploaded for maybe the millionth time.

My (hopefully) final bumper:

80’s Radio Show Bumper

This assignment I did is called Create A Ds106 Radio Bumper where you must create a 15 to 30 second radio bumper for the DS106 Radio. I did this assignment to create a bumper and content for my group’s radio show project. My group’s radio show is called “80’s Television Power Half Hour,” so I integrated that tagline into my bumper that I created here. I added some synthesizer music that I got from Freesound to give it an 80s vibe. Lastly, I organized and laid everything out using Audacity. I enjoyed getting to create a radio bumper with a theme to it rather than just a general standard radio bumper. There was not too much difficulty to this other than just trying to find just the right music to pair with the speech and theme. Take a listen to my radio bumper below.

My NEWER radio bumper

I know, I know, I’ve completed this before. However… that one was for the DS106 radio! Since we’re creating our own podcast, I’ve decided that I wanted to make a new one for ours! I really was excited about completing this! I made mine a little creepy with the background noise, since our first segment is horror based. It’s also October, so it’s totally appropriate that it’s creepy. I’m perfectly on schedule.

I recorded this on my computer, and anyone could tell I was trying to put more dialogue into this radio bumper. That’s what I wanted to do though, and I feel that I did that. For my last bumper, I related it to Disney channel, but I decided for that this one I would do my best to make it sound like a radio bumper that podcasts would actually use. I actually am really proud of this one, and the creepy ambiance in the background helps a lot with tying all of it together.

My bumper

This is the link to the original assignmnet. am using my bumper in my groups radio podcast! I used a guitar for the light background music and I recorded myself using my phone. I put all of it together on Audacity and it turned out great. I lowered the volume on the guitar so you can hear me talk better.

Smoothest Bumper You Heard Today

One mission, one task, create the best DS106 radio show bumper possible. Guess what, mission accomplished. For some reason whenever I think of radio voice transitions, all I can imagine is that old school smooth jazz cliche. Obviously that led to my only option of using that style for my own bumper. I started recording before realizing that I hadn’t decided what to say, but like I always say right now at this moment, “the best bumpers are improvised”

Radio Bumper

My radio bumper was fun, but it didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted. I guess some more experimenting with Audacity is needed. I had to do a lot of searching for the background music and my voice is maybe too quiet, but overall it isn’t too bad.

It was a fun little project and I liked listening to other’s versions too.

Bumper Ds106

This is my 13 second ds106 Radio Bumper. Enjoy!
