Two Different Realms…

For my last assignment I decided to do the “Common Everyday Object” that is meant to take a picture of a common everyday object and then to manipulate the colors. While a rose may not be an every day object, it is still something we see everyday in our lives. Especcially in the fast paced lives we live, sometimes we do not get the chance to appreciate a single beautiful flower for the joy or simplicity it may bring.

I chose this picture initially

After manipulating the colors using Gimp…this is the final result. It was really hard to learn all the tools in Gimp. But one of my good friends actually was exploring with it and came upon the tool that allowed us to do this. Shout out to Schulz! ;-)

You’ve changed

I was originally planning to do Say it Like the Peanut butter. Unfortunately, I had a lot of trouble with that and so I decided to try a different visual assignment. My choice was “Common everyday object.” I saw that some other students had done this one so I figured it would be a good idea.

As I still haven’t gotten my hands on a camera I used the built webcam on my laptop. The quality isn’t great but it was my only option. The state of the quality did render me a certain avenue of color adjustment. I got the result by playing around with the hue, which got funky from the pixelization.

Everyday cables

Here is the image of the Visual Assignment: Common everyday object. The blog response will be fleshed out.

*: This assignment was pretty straightforward, simply take an image of ‘Everyday items’ and alter the color/effects so that the items are slightly off. I decided to go with an image of ubiquitous items like accessory cords for a computer, just a little tangled like they so often are. Afterwards I simply turned the image to a sepia tone and focus a blurring circle on the center of the image. I feel that these effects mostly describe how tangled cords can be viewed, in that when woven together they create a barrier to their use.

Editted Cables

short. sweet. common. objects.

This week’s Take One features a visual assignment, Common everyday object or Common everyday object (it’s double posted, go figure).

The rules for this assignment were simple, take a photo of a common object, and manipulate the color.

My first thought: keys. So that’s what I took a photo of. The issue? Keys don’t contain much color.

So, I added in a Sharpie and a Pencil, and changed it to “common everyday objects“.

From here on, it was relatively simple to reach the end product in photoshop. All I really did was alter the levels to change how the colors are displayed–making the colors very bright–and I like how it turned out.

So, while there is not a lot to this assignment, I do like the finished product, and here it is for your viewing pleasure:
