Audio Self-Reflection PARODY

Can’t stomach all those glowing self-reflections about what’s so great about DS106? [Assignment1119] Then why not have a iittle fun and make a parody? Record a 3-5 minunte “self-reflection” from the point of view of a disgruntled student, teacher, or open-onliner, etc. responding to the questions: Why are you here? What brought you to DS106? Why are you still here?  Start by creating an obviously fictitous name and location, then let ‘er rip.  Maybe use a different voice, and some strange background music.  Provide a thumbnail image that will grab the reader’s attention when they scroll down the list.  Here’s an example of a self-reflection you can poke fun at.  You can submit your parody here for consideration to be added along side the other DS106 self-reflections.

DS106 Radio Commercial

Create a commercial featuring an item that you have invented that would be extremely useful to your favorite movie or TV Show character. Try to be as creative and abstract as possible. Must include sound effects or background music and be at least 20 seconds in length.

Teezee Reference

Find an audio clip from a show or movie outside of the Twilight Zone. See example from the Everybody Loves Raymond episode, “Standard Deviation.”

Advertisement for the scottlo podcast!

Everyone who has heard the scottlo podcast loves it, but not everyone has heard of it before. You need to fix that. Create a advertisement for the scottlo podcast. Make an audio advertisement (Or any media you want) that gives some basic information about the podcast. It needs to include where people can find the podcast also. If doing audio, add background music and sound effects. Upload to soundcloud and share it with everyone. 

Inflate Your Language

This assignemt was inspired by the audio assignment. “Puncuate like Victor Borge” submitted by ampersanddragon.

 
Narrate a story using Inflationary Language. Becareful, be sure that your story contins enough “numerical” words to make the assignment worth it. The inflation should occur in just about every sentence to get full effect. Remember to give tribute to the genius of Victor Borge by using some lines from his skit on Inflationary Language. 

Create a READ poster

Since 1985, the American Library Association (ALA) has tried to sell reading books as cool by showing celebrities reading their favorite books. You can read about the history of this promotional campaign here. Experiment with this tradition, introduce a celebrity with a book who hasn’t been recognized yet, but should be. Or use the poster you create to poke fun at a public figure, or do something else all together. have fun.

It’s Your Birthday, Happy GIFfin’ To You!

Did you say someone is celebrating their birthday? <i>And you need a birthday card to help them enjoy their special day?</i> Then look no further than the <b>”It’s Your Birthday, Happy GIFfin’ to You!”</b> ds106 assignment!

Make someone a special birthday card, but make it extra special by including a GIF!!  Try to make the design unique to them (it’s THEIR birthday, after all!). Share the card with them, and also share it with us so that we can share in their special wonderfulness, too! 

Car Chase Commentary

Take any video. (The worse the video, the easier this is. Look for something with virtually no action. If it’s exciting, you’ll never keep up.)  Add your voice over as if you were a local TV news anchor attempting to provide color commentary without stating anything overtly factual. Add all the hedge words and banalities that exemplify this kind of coverage.

Real-life 8-bit Art

8-bit art is all the rage right now, and what is so compelling about it is that it’s all around us. Find or create 8-bit art in your real-world environment and photograph it so that you can share it here and actually get credit! Free yourself of the prison that is your computer, find 8-bit art in nature and release your inner-hippie.
