Assignment Idea

An Album Cover

_cokwr: So here's something fun for everyone to do, should be quick and easy, but try to make it pretty. First, go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random The title of the article is now the name of your band. Next, go here: http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3 Go to the bottom of the page. The last four to five words of the last quote are the title of your first album Lastly, go here: http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days Select the 3rd image. It is the picture for your album cover. Manipulate the picture, resize it, add some other color, whatever. Do the same with the band name and album title, put them over top. However you wanna do it. Make it look cool., _cpzh4: Visual, _cre1l: http://blog.thecrazyleghero.info/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Stallion.jpg, _chk2m: Crazylegs, _ciyn3: 44, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Reimagined Road Signs

_cokwr: Reimagine the scene in a road sign. What is going on outside the iconic depiction in the sign itself? Find a road sign image online or photograph it yourself. Redraw it to show the rest of the scene you imagine, and show us the before/after on your blog., _cpzh4: Visual, _cre1l: http://is.gd/8qUpyK, _chk2m: Cheryl Colan, _ciyn3: 139, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Movie Trailer Mashup

_cokwr: Take your favorite movie trailer and mash it up with a different trailer to completely change the meaning of the original trailer. For example, if you have a funny movie trailer, give it the sound of a terrifying movie; or vice versa. You may need to clip the audio or the visual, use imovie and audacity to cut the clips to give you what you need. Good luck!, _cpzh4: Mashup, _cre1l: http://donuts56.wordpress.com/2011/04/17/mashup-finding-jaws/, _chk2m: duncandonuts56, _ciyn3: 125, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

colorize your world

Play by Play

_cokwr: Take any real life video and give us a play by play commentary on what we see. It can be a sports event, funny video or videogame gameplay. Make it funny, make it real, make it anything you want to be. Lets hear what you have to say about the game!, _cpzh4: Video, _cre1l: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2Te9LJncBo, _chk2m: Eric in Tokyo, _ciyn3: 212, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Phake Tweets

_cokwr: Use the Twister tool from ClassTools (http://classtools.net/twister/) to generate a series of images representing the voices of past figures if they could express themselves in twitter. Notch it up, and recast a historical event with a new plot line, and notch it up again, but making it a back and forth between two figures (use @person!) - my example is not developed as a fanfic, but should give you an idea of what to do (okay, okay, I will do a real assignment, sigh)., _cpzh4: Fanfic, _cre1l: http://cogdogblog.com/2011/03/17/phake-tweets/, _chk2m: CogDog, _ciyn3: 99, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Messing with the MacGuffin

Wikipedia defines the MacGuffin as "a plot element that catches the viewers' attention or drives the plot of a work of fiction." For this assignment forever change the plot of a movie, tv show, etc. by changing a single line of dialogue. Put this new line of dialogue below a screen-cap of the moment in the movie you're changing. Credit to Tom Woodward for posting an example of this idea in the #ds106 Twitter stream.
