Choose a song that you really long and do a mash up of the original with a cover done in a different Genre.
For this assignment, take your favorite Disney songs and try to make them flow when you mash them together!Have fun with it and enjoy!
Create a new mashup by combining any two songs you feel fitting for a mashup! You would be surprised at some of the results!
Below I completed this assignment by mashing Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” with Letting Go (a popular electro song back from 2011)
For week 5, an assignment I decided to complete was entitled “Covers by Different Artists-Same Song.” I chose this assignment as I love mashups as well as covers, so why not put the two together? The assignment recommended using Youtube Doubler to complete the mashup, so naturally, I found my videos on YouTube.
I decided to look for covers of the song Hallelujah because it is a really pretty song that a lot of people love, so I figured that there is bound to be plenty of covers on the song. When I started my search, I wanted to find both a male and female singer so that they would be different enough from each other but still be the same song. The first video I found was a cover created by Samantha Harvey, and the second by TONYB. When I mashed them up (embedded below) they were not perfectly matched up. They more so echoed each other, which I really liked. When it got to the first chorus, the two were in complete sync after being off for the first voice and it was perfect! Some people may not like that the two don’t match up, but trust me, it gets so good at the chorus!

This is a mashup assignment worth 4 stars. This took me a long time to complete and I wish I was able to edit it a little more so it ran a little smoother but I am happy with how it turned out! I chose these songs because I love both of them and I thought since they had similar vibes to their songs they would work well together. I was correct and was surprised that when I was finished and listened to it Lord Huron’s song sounded like it was supposed to be there! It seemed as more of an addition to the song to create more dynamic in the song.
For one of my assignments this week I decided to cover with the assignment post from the Audio section 2021. This assignment said to take two different covers of the same song an use YouTube Doubler to create a mashup. I chose to do a Send My Love Cover Mashup using the song from Adele. I chose this assignment, because it included two things that I really enjoy listening to myself, covers and mashups. With this assignment, I would be able to create something that I myself enjoy listening to.
I found one version of Send My Love by Adele when it first came out when four different people sang it while playing Patty Cake and I really wanted to incorporate it this video when I saw that it said to use covers. Although I realized that this would not be overly simple because I know that covers can be very different even if they’re based on the same song; it ended up being much harder than I anticipated. Because they were covers people would often alter the tempo and that made it very difficult to find two videos that matched up well. There was also an issue where one video would load and start playing before the other so that would sometimes throw the timing off and I couldn’t tell if it was a problem with the video itself or just the loading.
Ultimately, after watching and trying many different videos, I decide to go with the Patty Cake cover by KHS, Sam Tsui, Madilyn Bailey, and Alex G along with the cover by Jonah Baker. I chose to go this route with this assignment because I often lean more towards acoustic covers of songs and this had the acoustics and the interesting combination of clapping in the Patty Cake cover. Although I like this song it is not necessarily one of my favorites. However, I love this cover so when I read the assignment description the Patty Cake version immediately came to mind and I knew I wanted to do something with it if at all possible.
I had to set it so that the video by Jonah Baker starts a little further in than the Patty Cake version, but with that setting the first verse is practically in perfect sync and then the chorus and subsequent verses are a cannon where a line is said in one video and then repeated in another and I really like the affect. Although some may be bothered by the songs not matching up perfectly the whole way through, I really like the variations in the audio and the tones it gives the song overall. This assignment really gave me an appreciation for the effort it takes to match up two videos or songs to create one well-blended version.

For this assignment, you should create a story using the lyrics from various Disney songs. For example, if you start with “did they send me daughters when I asked for…,” from Mulan, you could follow it up with “happy snowmen!” from Frozen. In no way does your story have to make logical sense. Be creative!

I did a mash up using Audacity to create a mash of Imagine Dragons – Redioactive and Arctic Monkeys – Do I Wanna Know? for my #3 Assignment for Audio Media.
I took the two songs and imported them into the Audacity file and tore the original songs apart into different split pieces so that I could switch from the songs back and forth. So there wasn’t any bad overlap, I also faded the music in and out when they were transitioning songs. And in order to not get copyrighted, I switched the pitch to a slightly higher tone and switched the beat to being slightly faster. It was pretty easy to do so.
Both of these songs come from the same type of Indie genre. They’re both pretty good bands that were both especially popular between 2010-2015, I hope both of them continue to produce more new music. The Indie Rock genre has expanded a lot in recent years, prior to it rock “had died” as the alternative rock phase panned out.

I made a combination of two songs Location and Xo Tour Life, to show the different in beat and vocals. In Xo its a faster pace, with less sentimental lyrics but in Location it’s a slow beat and more emotional lyrics. Both these songs are at the top of the Hip-Hop genre but they are very much different from each other. Lil Uzi Vert is a rap artist while Khalid is a soul-pop type of singer.
I combined them both by using Audacity, the effects I used to change it up (so I don’t get copyrighted) was Change Speed, Fade In, and Change Pitch. None of them were super noticeable differences from the original piece of work. The greatest different is I made Khalid sound a bit like a girl, but it maintained the same pitch and tempo from the song.
The Sex Pistols are by far, the greatest boy band of all time. You cannot debate me on that. They were a band put together by record producers, featuring people who couldn’t play their instruments (at least Sid Vicious), but I still love them. Motley Crue, is my favorite band, and sure, they wore makeup and big hair, but they were as punk rock as hair metal could be (I mean, their first album was pretty much Glam Punk, in the style of the New York Dolls).
The Sex Pistols released their song Anarchy in the UK as a single in 1976, and it would on their first (and only real) album, Never Mind The Bullocks… Here’s the Sex Pistols. It really sent a message in the UK that would be picked up by bands like Crass and the Subhumans, and later on by numerous anarcho-punk bands across the world. It would be covered by acts like Megadeth and Green Jello, and become a common stable in the world of hard rock, where we all know the lyrics, even if we don’t know what Johnny Rotten was really saying.
Years later, Motley Crue would cover the song and feature it on their 1991 compilation Decade of Decadence. Their version would be slightly faster, adding that metal edge to their version of the song. I’ve mashed these two versions up, as it adds a layer of dissonance to both songs. It’s almost if the original version echos after the cover, reinforcing the message of chaos that that combined tracks preach. Personally, I want to go join a black bloc when I hear this version, and it’s only half because of the complete perversion of a great song from two amazing bands that I want to get away from.
